  1. Starla and I have talked about trying this before we leave. We have a GAC though so it'll only be for fun. No way we could claim bragging rights without waiting in lines... still, it is sort of tempting and would be a piece of cake with the help of a red card
  2. I thought it was very good. I've tried quite a few new-to-me drinks this trip. Not sure though, if I'm getting woozy from the booze, or from the accumulated price of all those $10 drinks in lil bitty cups... :wine:
  3. Heard from a CM friend that it was during breakfast. Nobody was hurt but there was shattered glass that landed on a few tables below causing them to close Chef Mickey's. Would love to be able to shoot pics of the repairs but suspect they may do it in the pre-dawn hours...
  4. One of the big glass panes above Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary shattered and fell into the restaurant during the storm the other morning. According to what I was told our reservations will be moved to the Ballroom of the Americas in the convention center area. That's where they used to do the old Jolly Holidays dinner show. The room isn't terribly impressive. Hopefully, the characters will make up for it but I think we'll be changing our dinner res...
  5. Exactly what Memphis said. We're here now and the only option provided by the fort at sites is still wired. With a router from home though it can be done...
  6. Welcome! A GAG is the carryout chicken meal from Trail's End. Officially it's called "giddy up and go"
  7. I'm going to jump in before FWG and tell you to get a full hookup - preferably 1600 so it's a short walk to the pool. The sites in full are generally more spread out and have less traffic so IMO it's a better location for active children to play & ride bikes/scooters/ect. ... and that sandpad? those premium people look at it all wrong. I prefer to consider it an added bonus... like beachfront property
  8. We were in MK for extra hours until 3 am Wednesday night. We were never asked for resort id. Haven't been asked for anything in quite a few years now. I'd sort of expected it this week, given the holiday crowds, so was surprised. edited to add - Maybe they just don't card old wimmenz b/c Starla just said she had to show it on every ride...
  9. Random rules!! I love anything that doesn't take a spreadsheet to plan so of course I'm in! Besides, I'm here in 1600 and haven't seen hardly anybody, so I'll live vicariously thru your pics until I find more of my fiends outside...
  10. me too. I wonder if it's something with the 1500 loop. I swear when we were there a few years ago, those ladies and their ditty bags really made me feel like an unprepared slob...
  11. Looks like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing them. Now, let's go take some new ones. I bet those boys have grown :wave1:
  12. Rumor was that there'd eventually be matching Disney Dooney & Bourke patterns on the wristbands. You know that I'll need those...
  13. That would be my guess but we can never be certain. My suggestion would be to call and ask them to modify the last instead of making a new res. Often that'll open things up. Failing that, maybe check it a couple of times a week in the mornings to see when the rates open up. If you'd like help with it, feel free to drop me a note...
  14. You just need to have them linked and note that they're connecting reservations. We do it all the time. Since they're both Premium the chances you'd have to move are very slim. I'd venture to say non-existent even if you make sure to remind them when you check in the first time. It's easier to note a continuing res than it is to combine them into one b/c the dates would have to be avail at the same rate, then one modified, and one cancelled.
  15. Love counting down the days. See you there! :jumpforjoy
  16. My only problem with the premium sites is that they seem to be closer together. I like the roominess of the 1700 loop and the lower price doesn't hurt either when we're talking about a month-long stay...
  17. let us not forget his dislike for Christmas decorations... how can anyone not like decorations at the fort? Can you imagine living next door to him IRL?? *sigh* just thinking about it makes me want to go out and put up a clothesline in the front yard. :dogsnicker:
  18. We've done it both ways but lately I prefer to walk inside for check-in. If we get there early and it's not ready, or we don't like the site they've assigned us, I figure we'll end up in the overflow lot anyway so might as well start there. Plus, it doesn't tie anyone behind us up if we use the restroom before checking in then. We just tell the guard at the gate we're checking in but want to go to the overflow lot first. Haven't had a problem yet. DH and I had a debate about this method so we made note of the rvs in line outside waiting to check in last July when we got there. Sure enough, I
  19. To my non-spread-sheeting-TA-self it looks pretty low key. You're not asking for the hardest ADRs and you don't need them during a holiday week. I think you can breathe, maybe even get some sleep until 5:30 or so. Now, if you were after princess meals or BOG, that'd be different but your dates and meals don't look too demanding to me. As far as the TiW, that depends on how much more you'll eat out or if you plan a return trip in the next year. I tend to think it'd be helpful given your HDDR plans in addition to the other meals but you'll need to crunch the numbers (in a non-spreadsheet sort
  20. Aha!! That explains why not even one of you stopped down to say hi to me waiting in line all night and half the morning at DTD. Yup, that must be it. It wasn't me, or a desire to avoid the temptation to join us purse-crazy line-standing loonies at all. You were merely suffering from a mass epidemic of spreadsheet withdrawal. :smug:
  21. I would wash down that cupcake with Nicki's & Dave's... might even make up for the fact that it doesn't have a middle. wait a minute... I might have to enjoy a bit of Dav'e cupcake first in order to pay $5 for one b/c you know everyone with me is gonna want one too so there goes $30 easy :banghead:
  22. Not only do I never have spreadsheets, I won't even commit to a definite arrival date until we pass Jacksonville. Shoot, we leave in ten days and I'm not even sure we'll be eating, much less where. I am a spreadsheet addict's worst nightmare... :hah:
  23. I don't know if there's an ideal time to check in. We usually try to shoot for between 11am and 1, figuring that if they give us a site we're not happy with, there's usually time to finagle a switch as long as we're willing to wait for it to be ready. The overflow lot is my frieeeend! :studsmatta-smiley: You can fax a request listing 3 or 4 sites you'd like about a week prior to your arrival. That works for many. It can't hurt. The field on the right side heading up to the outpost is a popular place for the RCFD to get some exercise and throw a football around. It might be an enjoyable s
