  1. Good point. I do try to find the bright side, when I can. Plus there is another pool for me to pull a Caddyshack day on.Now the question is, which side of the Fort will I need to stay on to avoid viewing the towering 4 Seasons or DVC?
  2. One of the mornings when I was out buzzing around on our cart, I said to myself, I bet TCD is off on one of his investigative expeditions. And I was right! My son noticed those cranes one day while we were there, and I told him about what I'd seen in your previous TR about them. Normally, I enjoy your TR's immensely - your photos always have a way of bringing a smile to my face, and are peaceful in a way. These are making me very angry. Damn the man and his almighty dollar!
  3. Love it! You were definitely way more prepared than I was for our first family camping adventure! Very wise to be sure you had refreshments on hand. I've heard those coolers are good. Our friends had one once when we were all tenting a few years back and the burgers she made for dinner on our second night were still frozen when she pulled them out for the grill! As for being warm in a tent, my methods always included long johns worn under pi's or sweats, socks, and a sleeping bag rated under 40 degrees. We would all wear the boys' soccer socks - you know those gigantic, long wool ones that
  4. It was fun, they still talk about it when we go by there. Well to save money I guess you could stick a bandanna on their head and take them on one of the resort boats, just tell them there's a secret treasure to find when you get there! But then you'd have to come up with something (or just giggle while they look for nothing).
  5. He didn't want to wear the bandanna on his head so they tied it around his wrist. He's always liked the m&m's car, no matter who the driver is. Even though I told him Kyle's a dirty driver, he didn't care. It's all about the m&m's for him. I don't like either Busch driver. My older son is a Stewart fan, now him I can tolerate. I believe he got that hat at Kyle's trailer at a Daytona race a couple of years ago.
  6. Maybe one day we'll have a chance to meet, at the fort or in OP. I'm right across the river (Fruit Cove), but hardly ever go over there - the bridge is too far down from me and the traffic in OP is pretty bad. We store our TT in Green Cove Springs. Ha! My brother called them pounders. And I remember beer balls too. Living in the middle of nowhere, a lot of our parties were out on back roads in fields and I can remember people sticking the b.b. in the snow to keep it cold! We had a classmate whose nickname was beer ball. I wonder how he got that?
  7. Thanks!pretty sure that's another word that ends in -ation. But I wouldn't know, either…… heard it in a movie once.
  8. After the pirate adventure ended, we went inside the GF to see the beautiful Easter decorations. There were hydrangeas everywhere - I just love hydrangeas. From what I remember reading, several (or maybe all) of the chefs in WDW participate in this egg decorating event. They are all 100% edible, and beautiful. The detail on some of them was just incredible. We spent an awful lot of time looking at them, as you can tell! I wanted to sneak a bite of this one: Then we headed out to grab the monorail. But first, a traditional GF pose for mom: We went upstairs and hopped on the mo
  9. The movie that night was Tangled. Can't get my boys to watch it, as it is about a girl TCDRMOG was 2 sites down from me! That setup was something. I'm just glad I didn't get the award! My boys were pretty impressed with it, actually. It appears he also advises folks on where to invest their money! It kinda looks like the back of the bench has some metal cut-outs of safari animals. Hmmmm….wonder if it's from a midnight run to AKL? I saw a lot of the same things you took pictures of. We must have crossed paths a couple of times that night, before we met up in Little Havana. FP4
  10. You're my hero, pulling a TT on your own. I've yet to do it, but am gonna have to grow a pair and learn. When we had the pup, I took off with the kids all the time. We miss out on a lot of opportunities because my husband just can't get away sometimes, but we can. LOVE the Seinfeld reference! I was in the pool!!! FP4
  11. Good points. Not being a pet owner, I don't think of these things. It sure is complicated! If anyone is ever camping at Lowe's Motor Speedway, or in the vicinity of Kannapolis, NC - I know a guy! FP4
  12. Not sure why you're apologizing, I didn't see any harm in your remarks. The half-staff thing doesn't bug me much, but I have to admit I rarely take the time to know why they're there, if I don't already know. What does irk me is when I see a US flag flown after dark with no light on it. They're supposed to be illuminated, or taken down at sunset, right? FP4
  13. Hey Harold, what happened to the purple crayon? I liked that one better.hehehe hijack over! My brother and his fiancee have a pet sitting business they operate in addition to their full time jobs in NC. They're always looking for new clients. Seems to me there must be a similar mom and pop type of operation that might be able to assist pet owners staying at the fort? Maybe Kenny or some of the other businesses we support might know of some?
  14. ne too….**sigh** They did! And yes, a break is a break - I'll take what I can get! hahaha maybe if we're ever there at the same time, we can switch - you get your pirate thing, I can indulge in some princesses and glitter! I've secretly always wanted to go to the Bibbidi-Bob place, whatever it's called…...My husband went to UF. So, I'm a Gator by marriage!
  15. We didn't use it, but the one time we stayed at AKL, I checked out the kid's club there. It looked amazing, and I would think any kid would have a blast - one of those places I could never get mine to leave. LOTS of things for them to do. I'm sure the ones at the other resorts are similar. If there is one thing Disney knows, it's what kids want. I guess it would depend on where you plan to go for your night out. Maybe, since you'll be there during a busy week, there will be another FF family there and y'all could swap parent's night out babysitting services? FP4
  16. I said the same thing. It's really remarkable! On one hand, I wish that it still looked like your 80's shot. But then I realize that looping would be pretty darn boring for all of us if everyone was hidden behind all that shrubbery! There are a lot of state parks in FL that still have sites with tons of natural surroundings/foliage very similar to the "old" fort. FP4
  17. They did! Glad I solved that mystery. Your daughters are smart. I don't want to see your mug on the tele sitting across a min-bar from Chris Hanson! Then you'll be the one walking around AK with an ankle monitor.Chomp, chomp!!
  18. I have no reason to suck up to anyone! I honestly mean what I said. I do the same for cashiers in the store, drive-up window workers, etc. Plus, I despise a$*-kissing. Probably why I never got past middle management at my old job. Yea, you'd think my 3-mile-a-day biking in the FL heat would show, sadly, that is not the case. But it's better than nothing! I run, too. But I'm a carb/dairy addict and eat whatever I please, so I kinda break even there.
  19. We're now at the mid-point of our trip. And, it will be one of our busiest days so far. Earlier in the week, we had seen a big boat pull up to the CM dock at the fort, and a bunch of kids dressed liked pirates get off and scatter all over the beach. The boys wanted to know if they could ride it, too. So I went to the marina desk and asked about it. They referred me to a website and I looked it up when we got back to the camper. Turns out there is an excursion for kids-only that departs from the GF a couple times a week. They make several stops on the lake and the one at the fort includ
  20. TCD........I am so disappointed to hear you went on a bike ride when I was at the fort and had my bike too! I would have loved to have gone on a guided TCD exploration mission. I would even pay admission! And I can hang when it comes to biking. That is how I have transported my kids to school every day for the past 7 years. We don't get a bus and the "car line" is ridiculous. So, we bike 3 miles round-trip every day, rain or shine. Next time! FP4
  21. I would be the one who made the solo cup reference. Honestly I was just teasing TCD, and I've never brought a solo cup full of beer on a Disney bus, nor would I suggest anyone else do so. As a matter of fact, when we were there last week, we were leaving the Poly one night, headed back to the fort. My husband suggested we get "one for the road", since we had to hop a monorail and then a boat, and it would be a nice way to enjoy the boat ride at night. I shot him down and told him I didn't think that was a very good idea. Also, knowing what adult beverages cost at the resorts, I didn't wan
  22. Oh my goodness. OV splits! Yup, I remember them. I think we'd drink twice as much though, thinking they're so small it was OK. I'm from a small - no tiny - town called Sidney. I was born in Oneonta, and went to college in Binghamton. Sidney is on I-88 in between those 2 cities. I worked in Syracuse for a while, and still root for the Orangemen!
  23. She sounds wonderful! And she is very beautiful. I'm envious. My in-laws are BIG cruisers. They took the whole family on one not long after my husband and I first got married in the 90's (at that point, it was their 3 sons + spouses and 3 grand-kids). It was an older ship called "The Big Red Boat", that I think might have been an old Disney vessel. Not the best shape, and not the best food. Our SR flooded every time we showered, and my husband and I got twin beds that couldn't be moved together. We were the only ones traveling without kids, and the other siblings got the double beds.
  24. I know, mine probably wouldn't either. Too many Legos and video games to distract them here! This is my maiden voyage as far as a TR. It's kinda fun, but time consuming. We are very fortunate to be able to go often. But like everyone, I'd go more if I could! The day we left, I had to stop at the front to return the old-school internet contraption and saw the pass in the car next to mine was good until mid-September. I was like, man, those people are SO lucky!
