  1. "And funny you should mention having to change places with your DH- I had to do that a couple of times with my DD's on the Aqua Duck line- there are definitely a lot of cultures out there who do not understand the concept of personal space." Yes! Unfortunately many are the same cultures who don't believe in deodorant or hair removal!
  2. I think it's the latter, I got it wrong. I don't think I've ever written it out, only spoken it, so never stopped to think about the meaning! And you are correct about them not being tidy at all!!
  3. This is so cool! I used to work for Bacardi, Coke and some smaller bottling companies. These pictures look very familiar, just different packaging (and contents). Plus you're cracking me up! When the whole "micro-brewery" craze was happening in the 90's my husband and I had several in town we used to frequent, and I remember it kinda stunk. I do like beer (probably a little too much;) but boy it reeked! Did it smell funky in the brewing area? FP4
  4. I have a funny story about a European gentleman in a BH getting a bit too close to us while in a line at BB last summer. My poor husband. I had to trade places with him. Dude had no concept of "personal space". Myself, I prefer a 3 foot radius on all sides, particularly when in crowds of strangers in swimsuits (or lack thereof). Much like WSD, his abs didn't meet the challenge.
  5. I'm with Stef - the first thing I thought when I saw WSD was tidy whities!! What the fort? It's bad enough he's wearing a banana hammock, but a WHITE one, to boot? Why ARE you the only one noticing these things?
  6. Your fort trip is much like most of ours. No parks, mostly fort, lots of beer, maybe a trip to DTD. Lots of Pool, Settlement, Looping! Thanks for the brief lesson on beer history. Never knew that, but it makes sense! My husband likes to say, "food has no beer value, but beer has food value"! I, too enjoy the EWP. Even after seeing it umpteen times. If we're not out there, hearing the music from our site even makes me smile. The 2000 loop is always good for some interesting views. I'll bet TCD has named many a real man of genius in that area. I actually like the flip-flop shot. Because
  7. I was totally teasing. Which I really shouldn't do, given I've never met you, but do feel as if I know you from reading all of your wonderful TR's. Your man card is very much intact, particularly due to all of those females in your house. Anyone who takes such good care of 4 women is more of a man than most! So drink all the "foo-foo" cocktails you want!
  8. hahaha I thought the same thing! Between that and admitting riding a tube with another dude! (Not that there is anything wrong with pink drinks or water rides with friends - I enjoy both very much!)His saving grace are all of the photos of Mrs. TCD! And she is indeed, a SCF!!
  9. Which website do you use to book Disney cruises? Directly through them or another travel site? Just curious as to where the best deals are, if any. I've found with WDW properties, it doesn't much matter how you book, the rates are usually pretty much the same. The only time I've gotten a better deal is with the FL resident discount. FP4
  10. This TR has made me giggle more than once. We have very similar senses of humor! My husband loves the "Disney on Ice" idea….you'll have to tell me when you'll be at the fort again, I think that would be reason enough for him to be convinced to go! He is also a big fan of the Captain, and he'd be all over those breakfast sandwiches. I'm pretty boring, all I ever bring is cereal! I do make some good dinners to compensate, though. And the beer is always ICE cold.
  11. Oh good. And, I agree! Don't sweat the small stuff.I love Christmas at the fort, and sometimes go there just to see the decorated sites and the WDW resorts. I do wonder how some of the really elaborate ones pull it off, how many extension cords they must use, and how long it must take, but appreciate their efforts as my kids and I enjoy it very much! We make hot chocolate, get some fuzzy blankets and loop around and around looking at all of them. OK well the kids are drinking hot chocolate…..
  12. I had this same problem during Spring Break this year. Had one res. for a premium for most of our stay, and one for a full h/u the rest. Kept both, told them about it when I checked in and that I'd like to stay on the same site for the entire stay. They told me it was no problem, went back the day I was to check out of res. #1 and got everything changed but stayed on the same site. Chances are they can do it for you too if Judy doesn't have any luck (but I have a feeling she will fix it up long before you arrive). People book stuff all the time and don't keep it. Spring Break has to be as
  13. I am with you. We rarely go for the same reason. Though, last time we were there it was just me and my 2 boys and we did get a small GAG because of all of the good things I'd read here. It fed the 3 of us for dinner and lunch the next day so was worth it.Cost is also why we've never done the backyard BBQ. Though I need to bite the bullet before they take the pavilion down!
  14. AC: aw, shucks! Thank you, I believe that is my very first "up arrow". I feel more like a real fiend! TJ: I meant no disrespect to tent campers who have the ingenuity to hook up some AC. And that is coming from a former tenter who suffered thru many hot and cold nights. I am very, very fond of Spanish Moss Lane, and if we hadn't upgraded from pup to TT last year, that is where you would still find me every visit. What chaps my a** are those who really streeeeeetch the limit on # of persons per site. My apologies!
  15. I have spoken to her a couple of times at Christmas, as we always visit her site and my kids sit and watch her movies. Last I knew she was a CM. Drove by again in April but didn't stop to chat, yes she has a lot of decorations out but nothing I thought seemed unsightly, cluttered perhaps but not trashy. Her 5th wheel is just gorgeous and her Christmas displays are one of my favorite parts of visiting in Dec. I have seen far worse at other CG's with permanent residents. Compare hers to some of the visitors in the 2000 loop with 18 people on a site and tents out in the middle of the loop w
  16. tomato, tomato; in line, on line - doesn't matter!
  17. TCD - I have a quick off-topic question for you. I see in this TR as well as some of your other writings that you use the phrase "get on line". I am curious if you're from NY or NJ? The only other person I have heard say it this way (as opposed to "get in line") is one of my college roommates who was from NY. Just curious!
  18. I agree. It looks more to me like a "look at me, I want attention" get up. My first thought was "huh.".
  19. Karla, WOW is all I can say! Thank you so much! This is fantastic. I too will print it for my files and email a copy to Mom. I use the wecamphere site also. Just thought I'd get first hand recommendations from those of you who come down to FL regularly. You know how the CG websites can differ drastically from what you actually see when you pull in! Thanks again to all of you! I just love this wonderful resource!
  20. Good info, thank you! I will keep these on the list for the trips when time is short. We generally take our time (have kids, gotta stop for more than a nap) and this info is also for my mom who travels alone. I should have been more specific - looking for campgrounds with hookups convenient to our route.
  21. Hi all, I am looking for suggestions for good overnight stops between St. Augustine, FL and upstate New York. Will be going up 95, then over to 81 through PA. Any and all suggestions welcomed since the timing of stops isn't certain yet. Prefer secure places that would also be convenient to gas and food. Also, if you have any suggestions for alternative routes that might be more RV friendly that would be great. 95 can be scary and 81 always seems to have some kind of construction going on that brings traffic to a standstill in the middle of nowhere! We do have the benefit of being able t
  22. Oh and I forgot to mention cable didn't work at our site at all and the wifi signal is nonexistent. So even though they advertise having both, they don't. When Mom was there 2 weeks ago her cable did work and she was closer to the wifi so got a very weak signal but you pretty much have to be on top of it to get anything. Also there is poison ivy here and there so look out for that if you ever stay here. And bring PLENTY of bug spray/citronella, etc.
  23. We did end up going to N Beach this weekend but just checked out this morning (a day early) due to Tropical Storm Beryl. (boo) Also I only stayed there last night because I had to go up to NC Friday for a funeral. but I will have at least 2 days of work ahead of me cleaning our gear and scrubbing the TT, truck and car out from all of the dirt and sand. Even though I was only there for one night, I can say it will be a while before we return, and most definitely not on a holiday weekend. It really is dirty - not just sandy, like filthy dirty, our feet were black. The place was so crowded,
  24. How funny, I jump on here to read another page or 2 of your New Year's report that I've slowly been enjoying the last week or so, and end up on page one of your brand new report! Not bad for a rookie!! With 2 boys, I've been to SWW weekend more than once. My favorite part is seeing all of the "overly enthusiastic" SW fans (kind of like the old "Trekies"). Not a huge fan myself, but do know a good bit about the characters by proxy. Ask me to name a Disney princess, and I'd be stumped. Nice score on those FP's!!! FP4
