  1. Same here, but now I won't even ride green because of the frightening experience I had on the other one. I'm claustrophobic but didn't realize how bad until I rode that. Also at the time my bp had been a bit high, I don't have heart issues but buddy I thought for sure I was going to have a heart attack inside that ride. My heart was racing and I couldn't breathe. I survived but can't go near it now.I can ride just about everything else in all 4 parks but haven't mustered up the guts to do rocking roller coaster at HS. Back in the day my husband and I sought out the scariest coasters we co
  2. That's right. It's dirt, but sandy dirt that blows with the wind and gets everywhere. I did notice some campers who must be staying there for a while had covered most of their site with tarp or other ground cover. I guess you just do what you have to. I live here and am used to it but I don't like it! I think I could tolerate it in order to be able to walk across the street to the ocean and have all of those other fun things in St. Aug. close by. May stay there for Mem. Day if a spot opens up so we will see…….
  3. Bumping this up to see what everyone's latest advice on Roadside Co.'s is. Our AAA renewal is up next month. Was going to add the RV coverage but have read their service for RV's isn't as good as others. We do most of our towing/camping in FL and GA, but do travel up the East Coast during the summer months some years. I like AAA for all of the discounts and will likely keep them for that reason, and I guess the coverage on my car? Or does it make more sense to bundle? My car isn't the tow vehicle, but it's old and I need something. My husband's truck is brand new and we will need to add
  4. Yes, it is higher than it appears. But you'd have to be very careful about which row/site you chose to avoid the same problem. I'm sure the people who run it know which ones can accommodate big rigs.I really was dirty. Our feet were filthy from walking to dinner (in crocs and flip flops). Price you pay for being at the beach I guess. That's what the outdoor showers are for!
  5. hahaha well, I nursed it, so no memory loss - but I do think it is what prevented me from being annoyed at how long our food took! That, and I wasn't the cook for once!
  6. There's a nice festival at the Mission grounds that weekend. They get some good bands sometimes.
  7. PS: sorry I didn't take pictures of the food. Still learning my way around here! Plus, our food took so long, by the time we got it I just wanted to eat and get going! I did enjoy a yummy cocktail called Goombay Smash that was very refreshing!
  8. Spent Mother's Day at this CG. My mom was staying here while she volunteered at the Player's Championship last week. Overall, the best part about this place is the location. Across the street from the beach, and at the back of the CG is the intracoastal with a boat ramp. It's very sandy/dirty, and the amenities are very dated, but maintained. Lots of pull-thrus, full hookups in most of the sites. Many of these were taken with my phone, and it was an overcast day so photo quality is not the best, and I didn't take the time to enhance them. Here is the entrance/store/office: Beach access
  9. We stayed at the Quarryville Jellystone 2 summers ago and loved the place. Lots for our boys to do and the surrounding areas were just beautiful. Toured the amish areas and went to some of the RR museums. I think there is a price break if you stay 4 nights or more?
  10. Thanks all! I'm the one who asked the questions that jacked the thread - my bad, sorry! Thank you for these great photos! I want to pick up the phone and book right now. No free weekends though Who signed my children up for all of these darn activities and sports??? Oh right. That was me.
  11. I love this! Wonder if there are instructions online somewhere. YC, what did they get you for shipping on the mugs?
  12. From the cave tour: entrance to the caves inside - not fun for really tall folks! I am a bit claustrophobic but had no trouble since I was with a large group and the guides were very reassuring about the number of exits. But, if you have an extreme case of it, you may want to stick to the museum above. And finally, here is where you exit!
  13. I am just delighted that I actually got pictures on here. A while back I attempted to do a TR and after 2 hours of messing with photo bucket and this, gave up feeling like a complete dolt. I'll post a bunch of our cave tour next. Didn't take many of the actual CG. From what I understand, it had recently been redone. It's worth the trip. Had no idea you could go caving in FL, not to mention that there were hills like that! I am usually not impressed by the camping facilities at state parks. Enjoy going to them for the exploration, learning and tranquility aspects, however usually find th
  14. Here are a few shots from our trip to this state park in Jan. of this year. I am doing this to learn how to post photos so bear with me! This was a Cub Scout trip and we always get one site to share for meals and other activities. I didn't take one of the site we camped on but they are all very spacious, as can be seen here. We had over 60 people gather for meals a campfires at this one site! A few more: This state park has abundant walking trails. The boys went on a 3 mi. hike:
  15. Yes - it's the hotel I was thinking of - was wrong about the name. Hyatt, Hilton, potato, tomato! It's right next door to The Landing. Beautiful views of the river and the city. I am still learning how to use my camera, as it's fairly new, and the software/uploading/editing stuff. Maybe once I get a handle on that I can then turn to the lesson of how to post photos here! I'm kinda slow about those things :) Forgot to mention, also due to me reading your TR and talking about it, my husband and oldest son cruised over to peek in on the former RC. We never knew that place was back there, d
  16. Love this! I'm new so have only read a couple of these but have enjoyed them very much! Because of you, I went out early the last morning of our trip, left my sleeping family behind, enjoyed the peace and tranquility (save the busses and boat horns) of the fort in the morning with a nice cup of joe and my camera. Congrats to your daughters! I live in Jacksonville - the hotel looked familiar - might it be the Hilton on the river downtown? How fun for them to get go to WDW thanks to their hard work!! We stayed at Coronado a few years ago, my boys still talk about it! I think they've reno
  17. PS: about the pet/no pet issue - we were in a supposed "non-pet" loop last week and 3 of our next door neighbors had dogs. So evidently, this isn't being enforced AT ALL. Nor is the kids driving golf carts rule, or the # of persons per site rule.
  18. We were there last week and didn't do any parks. Too crazy and crowded! Plus my husband wasn't there for most of our stay and I can't do it by myself! But it ended up being one of our best stays at FW ever!! We did go to DTD (free!) to play at the Lego store and listen to some live music, and visited a couple other resorts for a change of scenery a couple of times - the FW pool was so crowded and frankly, gross! Rode the boats for free, rode the monorail, stuff like that. Also went off property to do putt putt for like 8 bucks one time.
  19. I know, so do mine! I look forward to when they're old enough to drive it and I can just sit back and enjoy the ride!
  20. I heard about Kenny from all of you (thank you AGAIN!!), but also read it was best to book months in advance. Took a chance, emailed and left a v mail msg, and lucky for us, someone had cancelled for next week - a holiday week at that! So don't despair if you haven't made reservations, you could get lucky like I did. You just never know.
