Well, Christmas is over. Now we can really look forward to this! 5 more months....

This story is the biggest crock. This is the guy who crashed in the 700 loop 2 years ago Halloween. The story doesn't even tell any truth about the father racing the other cart. This is the guy who was riding around in the 95 cart all weekend with the red solo cup. I know a friend of his and he said it just so happened the only time he wasn't drunk that weekend was that night. The guys an dingal berry and shouldn't be allowed back at the fort.

I think we should all send Dave the Snow White ones for Christmas

We've owned our Big Easy since 2007. That was the first year we spent Thanksgiving at the Fort, and I bought it for that trip. We've not used it enough considering how well it works. Probably 8 or 9 times total in the 4 years I've owned it. I need to try some different cuts of meat in it in 2012, like a pork roast or something. It is a very versatile cooker.
Let us know how that prime rib comes out! And I sure hope you are celebrating with that prime rib on Christmas Day.

And, if you would all indulge me for just a moment, I would like to give my side of this story.
I, of course, knew that Dave, Christy and their family had adopted Anna earlier this year.
And, from that story, I knew that Anna had spent her life to that point in an orphanage.
In Russia.
From what little I know about these kinds of things, I know that we have no idea what that child had been through up to that point in her life.
I also know, that if Dave and Christy had not gone to the lengths they did to adopt Anna, she would probably spend the rest of her life in a not-so-nice institution in Russia.
So, when I finally got a chance to meet her, I expected her to be shy and withdrawn.
Boy, was I surprised.
This little girl was so open and outgoing that it totally surprised me.
As far as I know, she doesn't talk much, but when she saw me, she held out her arms wide open and had a giant smile on her face!
She didn't know me from Adam, but this girl apparently trusts and loves everybody.
That is a testament to Dave and his family.
And, boy can that little girl hug!
When I tried to give her back to Dave, she hugged me tighter.
She was obviously pulling Dave's chain.
He told her that he had to keep her, because he promised the Russian judge that he would.
She reluctantly let go of my neck and went back to Dad.
This little meeting had a big impact on me.
I don't think I will ever forget this.
I am a firm believer that it is in giving that we receive.
And, I have no doubt at all that Dave, Christy, and all of their wonderful daughters have been an unbelievable blessing to sweet little Anna, but she is even a bigger blessing to them.
I have to say, this was the highlight of my trip.
And maybe my year.
Dave, Christy and their girls are what folks in the South call good people!

Yay for Stella! First SM ride is a right of passage for young Fiends the world over.
I wasn't sure what to expect taking Anna on HM, but she liked it. The only ride she had any problem with was Pirates. And that was only because of the drop in the dark. And I don't think she was scared from the drop, so much as she was scared cause I was screaming like a schoolgirl in her ear.
First, you must go to the Plaza for the fries before they disappear. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see them go the way of Aunt Polly's and the Mike Fink Keelboats.
Second, yes, I do hold a grudge. Be careful.
Third, the SM photos were completely candid. I had no idea there was a camera on that ride. Really.
And finally, I am indebted to my cousin, and will pay the kindness forward when I can.
Hey Donnie, thanks for the comments. I am cherishing these times with my girls before they grow up and move on with their lives, leaving memories behind. You know as well as I do how the teenage years can be. Ya gotta take the good with the bad and just roll with it sometimes.

I think if I can do funnel cakes then Tonga Toast will be just as easy. Maybe I should get out the ole bread machine and make sourdough bread for starters. It would give me an excuse to use the darn thing.

When I cooked the lobster for the batch of mac 'n cheese I brought to the GG, I rolled the meat out of all of the tiny claws and you wouldn't believe how much meat was in them, even in small lobsters. And the knuckle meat is some of the tastiest there is.
We used to be able to get really huge lobsters from a place in MA. Biggest one was 15 lbs - we picked at that thing for HOURS. Even the fins at the end of the tail had meat in them.

Thank you Monique. :heart: I would never waste any lobster, I eat every bit I can find. Most people don't know how to eat lobsters and they think the only meat is in the tail. HOW WRONGE but I love to have lobster with people who don't know because there is more for me :jumpforjoy
