  1. I'm going to Houston tomorrow to pick up my mother in law. She is coming to live with us (she has dementia) and the caregiver won't arrive until Monday, so it will probably be Monday afternoon before I can get back to my trip report. Don't lose faith in me!
  2. I loved the "lessons learned" so much that I decided to use it too. And, we have learned many things.
  3. Sorry its taking me so long to put this trip report together, but I will eventually get it finished. I will probably have some of my days and events mixed up, so I will apologize in advance. Our first few days were just the two of us (no kids or grandkids) and we had a blast. On Monday we jumped on the bus and went to Animal Kingdom. We rode everything we wanted to ride...twice.. and finished up in an hour and a half. Went back to the campground and went looping looking for Dave the Castle Guy. I couldn't remember when he was supposed to check in and I was not able to go online with my laptop.
  4. I'm sorry we missed you too. I replaced my phone with a new i Phone...I'm starting classes next week on how to use it! :rofl2:
  5. That must be what the problem was! My sign only came with directions in Japanese..and I can't read Japanese. I sang "It's A Small World" but I didn't know about the teapot song. Hopefully I'll get all the steps right next time and have true Snarky Power!!
  6. They had those at our Walgreens at home, so I bought it before I left. We still have a KMart and they have alot of Disney decorations also.
  7. We didn't do anything special Saturday night except enjoying being at Fort Wilderness (and still grumbling about not getting our site). Sunday was football day and Louis was hoping we could watch the Texans, but they were blacked out and no amount of arguing with Direct TV would turn them on...so he listened to the game on the radio. I spent the time getting our campsite organized and putting out all of our decorations. Second Lesson Learned...anchor your Mickey Light Post before walking off to do something else. Mine fell over and broke Mickey's head...so I put his Santa Hat on top of the now
  8. Uploaded with ImageShack.us This is our campsite...the one and only picture we took.
  9. I proudly carried my new Fort Fiends sign to the fort thinking we were supposed to get special privileges...like site requests :rofl2: I'm pretty sure thats what KFK said. But, my sign was defective and I didn't get anything close to my site request. But after the initial major let down, our site wasn't too bad. That brings us to the first lesson learned...never check in on the Saturday after Thanksgiving Our request was for the 900 loop, in the back of the loop, away from the main road and comfort station and plenty of privacy. We asked for site 912 first, then 914 or 915. Well, they put
  10. I couldn't get online...finally was able to post my site number on my husbands iphone.
  11. We just got home from a great trip to the fort, but we found out we had a defective Fort Fiends sign, we learned some valuable lessons and we saw so many beautiful light displays that we're already planning our trip next year! Right now, I've got to pay a ton of bills, straighten out my email ( we didn't know you had to delete email on your servers website also) and replace my cell phone (fell into a glass of wine). Hopefully, I can start my trip report tomorrow.
  12. I love what you did! We need a new base for our mickey lamp and we happen to have an old milk jug. I think we'll get started right away. Thanks for the creative ideas.
  13. If you were going to be there the during the first two weeks of June, I would recommend going to Norfolk on June 8th and watch the arrival of the Tall Ships for Opsail 2012. Its a spectacular sight watching the sailing ships and their crews sail into port. I believe the ships are also going to Baltimore but I'm not sure of the date. You can check out the website www.opsail2012virginia.com and find links to the other ports and their schedules to see if that would fit into your vacation. As far as the campgrounds. we were planning on staying at Cherry Hill for a few days while we toured Washingt
  14. We'll be there Nov. 26 - Dec. 4, 2011.. hopefully in the 900 loop. :jumpforjoy
  15. We're going to Epcot on Thursday, Dec. 1 and plan on watching the Candle Light Processional. Do we need to do a Dinner package in order to get seating?
  16. We drove on 429 and haven't gotten a letter yet, so I'm assuming its good. However, in Texas, it sometimes takes them quite awhile to send a letter if you've broken any of the rules.
  17. Thank you for the info, that's the kind of directions I like. I'm the navigator (back seat driver) and its sometimes hard to keep my husband on the right track.
  18. Thats exactly what I'm looking for...thank you so much. We didn't put in avoid tolls...at least not intentionally...but it has us take a left onto Vista Blvd, but then it takes us out to Vineland or something like that and then we wind around all these neighborhoods and small roads until we hit the toll road. It takes about an hour. I will have to look on a map to refresh my memory but I think the road turns into 535. We went that way one time to the emergency room...thats the only reason we didn't totally panic. But, we were the only rv on the road and there wasn't anywhere large enough to t
  19. Thanks! That looked like the way I would want to go on the map, but I couldn't figure out how to get there.
  20. We need help with directions for leaving the fort. We follow the directions for coming to the fort without any problems. We have nice roads all the way in...but when we leave, we rely on the GPS and it sends us on some crazy roads. We end up on the toll road, but I like the way we come in alot better. Even Mapquest and Google Maps gives me the same directions as my gps. We never see any other RV's on this road, so we're sure there's a better route. Whats the preferred route for all you frequent travelers? (Obviously we can't figure out how to reverse the directions :-[ )
  21. My daughter was there last year around the middle of December and she called eveyday complaining about how cold it was. Of course, we think its cold if it dips below 60. :wave1:
