  1. Just saw a post from Nancy Spann that the parade will start at 6:00. We're still going to be out at 5:30 just in case that info is wrong. We don't want to miss any of it.
  2. We started with a gas powered Class C, and it could have been a lemon, but my husband hated it. We only felt comfortable driving it about 60...65 at the most. It would barely make it over the bridge in Baton Rouge. We traded it for a used diesel pusher and never looked back.
  3. Nancy Spann , another travel agent who lives at the Fort, posted the parade times on Facebook. I'm assuming they're her clients who come every year. They had a parade last night about 7:30 (more informal) and the decorations were great. We've cancelled our dinner plans for tonight so we can see the parade and spend our last night looking at all the fantastic light displays. Anyone coming this month will not be disappointed. Merry Christmas from the Fort!
  4. We always request the 900 loop and usually get the site we request. We like 912, 914 or 915 if we can't the first two. They are in the back of the loop, no one backs up to you and plenty of privacy. Once you get past 915, the campsites are getting close to the group camping area and it can get noisy. Welcome to the group!
  5. There are impressive displays in every loop right now. I've never seen so many decorations in all the loops. Some of the large decorated sites are not here, but there is still a lot to see.
  6. Ruby was found lasti night about sunset by the old railroad tracks. Thanks for all the good thoughts...there were a lot of eyes looking for her. Campers are the best!!
  7. For those of you at the fort right now, please keep your eyes out for Ruby, a one year old beagle who slipped her lease today, December 6 , at the fort. Her owners are in site 622 and have been looking frantically all day. I'm not sure yet when they have to leave, but I have their phone number if Ruby is found. Thanks, Karen
  8. We thought about bringing our linx levelers and building ramps, just like leveling, and driving the front end up to make more of an incline. That being said, the first time we backed the cart out with no incline it scared us to death so now we bring it in a trailer.
  9. Thanks, I'll try again tomorrow. His iPad is new, but I still can't get the sites to show up on iTunes or the App Store.
  10. Sorry I have no short term memory, but, I want to put the Fort Fiends app and sites app on my husbands iPad and I can't remember how I did it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Karen
  11. I think that's a good plan. It's best to learn the basics on something simple. I'm so impressed your daughter wants to learn to sew, mine never showed any interest.
  12. I have a computerized Singer sewing machine and I really like it, but they can be very tempermental so you need to be patient. They need a very stable, level surface when sewing. You have to thread them just right...sometimes several times before the machine recognizes that you did it right. If you have a good Singer store, I would also take a few lessons just to help learn this machine. There are usually You Tube videos and sewing forums on Yahoo and Facebook that can help with any problems relating to the machine. It looks like it has plenty of good stitches and features to learn how to sew.
  13. I looked at the dresser on Pinterest and her Facebook page. In the comments, she said she used a vinyl cutter and peeled them off after painting the dresser.
  14. I'm not crafty enough to accomplish that kind of project, but I wonder if you could find the word stencils or premade words in the scrapbooking section of any craft store.
  15. Thanks! I would appreciate it. Do you think mapquest is right and it will take us about 2 1/2 hours to get there from the Fort?
  16. I wasn't sure where to post this, but I need help from people who live in Jacksonville and/or are familiar with the parking at EverBank Field. In your opinion, which parking area would be close to the stadium but easy to get out of at the end of the game? We will be attending the game on Dec. 7 and heading back to Fort Wilderness after the game. Any help would be appreciated. Karen
  17. Hope you get all your problems resolved. Enjoy your time at the Fort!
  18. If you want someone else to look at it, call Camper Connection....407-397-2267. They have a guy who is great with all electrical problems. He fixed problems on our motorhome that no one else was ever able to fix. It was worth it to pay another repair bill. A service call last year was $65.00 and the labor was 55.00. Worth every penny to us.
  19. We have had a class c and are now on our second class a diesel pusher. The one thing we found consistent in all three was the lack of seat belts. It didn't matter what floorplans we had...the only seat belts were on the sofa. It is important to think about what your needs are as a family. We didn't need as much sleeping space on a regular basis, but we wanted comfortable seating for watching tv. When we need more beds, we use air mattresses. Good luck on your search.
  20. One of the campgrounds we went to this summer, which allowed golf carts, charged us $5.00 a day, plus we had to show that we had insurance and that it was street legal and licensed by the city. They only allowed one outside vendor if you wanted to rent and the going rate was $100.00 a day. (But that was the same rate all the outside vendors charged for a four seater) But, it was pointed out to me that it was for a full 24 hours. What a bargain!! It was cheaper to comply with all their requests rather than rent.
  21. Why don't you just cut new foam to fit and throw away the old foam. If the memory foam is an inch, buy two inch regular or high density foam to use as a base and put the memory foam on top. Should make comfortable seating and a good mattress for sleeping. Joann's sells all the base foam.
  22. Just curious...Are you calling or just checking the website? I wasn't looking for the 5th, but I called and was able to add the 6th to my December reservation.
  23. Are they Mosquitos or gnats? Pour some vinegar into the drains and that will keep any more bugs from coming up that way.
  24. Last summer, we were walking through FantasyLand with our grandchildren having just finished lunch at BOG( hour long wait), enjoying the rides, the crowds and the warm summer weather. When our six year old grandson throughs his hands into the air, spins around and with the exuberance a child says, " Can you believe it Nana! All this and it's FREE!!!" Love the Memories
