  1. A big THANK YOU to the "On The Scene Fiends" and everyone else who contributed with videos and pictures. It was a great way to share the night with those of us who could not be there. WOW!!! What A Party!
  2. This is great "on the scene" reporting!! Thank you for all the great updates.
  3. I'm loving this. I'm going to share your adventure with my sister and brother in law who are redoing a vintage (1970) travel trailer. They would love to see all your improvements and what you do with the plumbing, propane and electrical. Their old trailer had been thoroughly worked over by mice also.
  4. We showed up at the Luau with an infant which I didn't include in the reservation...since it wasn't going to eat and it was sitting with its mother. They had a major meltdown, but they did eventually seat us. I would think a regular dinner would be no problem.
  5. We've taken our grand kids to Disney world so many times, we would all like to come and enjoy all the things we never have time for: horseback riding, mini golf, water parks, canoeing and kayaking, a fishing trip, renting a pontoon boat, archery, Segway tours, everything mentioned before...I could go on forever. Yes, we could go to an rv resort closer to home, but we haven't found one yet as good as Fort Wilderness. And, if we got bored (which I doubt) we could always buy park tickets at the gate. Anyway, the grand kids have requested a no park visit next summer, we'll see if they stick with i
  6. It seems like every time we're heading to Florida, we either have torrential rains or traffic delays in Louisiana. Our goal is to get through Baton Rouge before rush hour and then hope for no major delays on I 12. Biloxi takes us about 8 hours since we stop every 3 to 4 hours. In Biloxi, we stop at Parkers Landing..it has an extremely long pull through (site 64) which makes for a comfortable night and an easy exit in the morning. We're always looking for good stopping places, but there's not a lot to choose from.
  7. We usually pick up the grand kids in The Woodlands and drive the first day to Biloxi. The second day we stop at Jellystone because there's a lot for the grand kids to do. That gives us a short drive to the Fort in the morning. We don't drive long days anymore...about eight hours is our max. If we stop at Milton Pines the first night (a long first day for us), then we make it to Disney the next day.
  8. We usually stop at the Jellystone park in Madison, fl. Easy on and off I 10. It's about 4 hours from Fort wilderness. But, that's a long drive from houston...I would stop at the Milton Pines KOA instead.
  9. We bought an Emerson portable ice maker at Target, on sale for $109.99 about two years ago. We use it in the motorhome, in the boat and on the porch and it's still working great.
  10. We took our 84 year old mother in law last year and pushed her all over the parks. We took turns pushing and we hung all of our purses and bags off the back of the chair. We were able to do all the rides we always enjoy, she just had to be able to transport from the chair to the ride. The safari ride at AK was the longest wait...I wonder if it would be a shorter wait with the new fast pass plus? But, we'll be at the Fort starting Feb. 16 , hopefully in the 900 loop, so if you're there at the same time and need any assistance please let us know.
  11. I would check with Mears Transportation to see if they have a shuttle that picks up at Fort Wilderness and goes to Sea World. We use their shuttle to go to Universal. Although, sometimes a rental car might be cheaper.
  12. We also like a quiet loop so we always request the 900 loop. We like the outside sites toward the back of the loop. It's a small loop offset from the main road, so you don't hear the Main Street noise. The sites...such as 912, 914, 915 (you can check them out on a map) don't have anyone backing up to them and they're large sites with a lot of privacy. And, although it meets all of our criteria for a great, quiet campsite, we're still close enough to the pool, campfire, etc for the grand kids to have a great time. Have a great time!
  13. The one I brought was about 42" x 42 " and it just barely covered the top. I will go larger next time so I can have some overhang. Hope this helps.
  14. I'll try that when I get home. The sugar has some natural occurring acid in it that is supposed to stimulate collagen production. Don't know if any of its true, but in my mind anyway, I think my skin looks better when I use it.
  15. I make mine with sugar and usually olive oil. I've been experimenting with skin so soft bath oil, but I really think the olive oil works better. I've been using it to try to rehydrate dry , sun damaged skin.
  16. If you have the time, patience and he wouldn't have to climb lots of stairs then it would be like taking care of any aging person. The cataracts don't have to be fixed and the other issues you mentioned aren't too bad to deal with. It would be a great kindness to him if you could take him. Once you get to know each other, you will develop a routine and he will probably do fine. If he's beyond help then animal control would be the next choice, but because of his age and problems it will be very difficult to get him adopted.
  17. How many people are you trying to reserve for? I have read that their reservations system has a glitch that doesn't deal with odd numbers. Try making it for more people and then go back and cancel the extra people at a later date. Good luck!
  18. We've never stayed in 913, but we've been across the street and most people had a very hard time backing in. It's right on the left hand side going around the corner. There is a garbage can and recycling bin right in the way and because of the layout of the other sites, there's not much maneuvering room.
  19. I agree with Carol that a lot of this is personal preference. I don't like site 1001. The reasons are : it's right on the main road, it's right by the bus stop and right by the comfort station. There was absolutely no privacy ! Now, that being said....by daughter in law loved it for all the reasons we hated it. To each their own...
  20. We've now had all five dogs on the supplement for a couple of weeks. Nikki continues to do pretty good. She is still able to hold her body up and walk around the house, responds to sounds and snack cues and a lot of the typical neurological symptoms are in a decline..for example: the circling and head tilt. Now for the other dogs: Susie (Yorkie) hasn't been itching at all, Remy (rescue Yorkie mix) still has some itchy spots, Cassie (inherited white shitz zu) is still getting hot spots in the same areas and George (inherited old yellow lab ....hasn't helped his arthritis or shedding, but he is
  21. Big oak looked pretty nice. The Jellystone campground is especially good if you're traveling with kids, it's easy on and easy off, lots to do, nice shady sites (not a plus if you want satellite) and pools and beaches. It is a family destination campground, so lots of kids and family groups.
  22. We always threw candy and beads at the 4th of July parade, but the last time we were there, they were discouraging it and asked us not to throw but we could hand it to the spectators. Sounds like they haven't really followed up on it. Thanks for the info.
  23. Can you still hand out beads and candy at the 4th of July golf cart parade? I know they don't want you to throw anything but wasn't sure if they had cut out all parade treasures.
  24. We stayed at the KOA west in Tallahassee . It was ok, but we would probably not stay there again unless it was an emergency. If you can push on for about an hour, you can stay at the Jellystone park in Madison. Much nicer place.
