  1. I think that's an accurate observation. DCL will not allow any loose ice to be brought into the terminal. They actually x-ray bags there, but there's an additional concern of melted ice damaging the equipment. TCD
  2. Disney has an onerous right of first refusal for any DVC proposed resales. They're not going to let any contracts get snapped up by third parties. If things get really bad, then everything goes down the tubes along with Disney. Disney always wins (or everyone loses). TCD
  3. Thanks for sharing. There's a big map like this and a bunch of other cool artifacts on display in the lobby for the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction at Disneyland. I always enjoy spending time in there. TCD
  4. The alcohol has to be carried on. You can't check it. All the cabins have refrigerators. Even though there's no limit on how much you can check, pack light. Overpacking is a big rookie mistake. TCD
  5. Great post DIT- I have no doubt this new resort will be really nice. Look at what they did over at Wilderness Lodge with Geyser Point and the new pool. My beef is that they have apparently chosen to take away the entire Settlement and give it to the new resort. That's a bigger loss to the Fort than anything that any old timer can name. Sure, this fancy resort will be great. But what they are apparently going to do to the Fort is unforgivable. TCD
  6. Good eye. I was still on the island when that photo was taken. Yes, I was the last guest on the island again. TCD
  7. Here's a screen shot from the Orange County Property Appraiser's website- Disney owns everything shaded green- so all the way around Bay Lake: TCD
  8. Great updates. The mermaid skeleton was added to Pirates in conjunction with mermaid special effects in the water. One of the Pirates movies had mermaids. The special effects in the water never worked right, so they took all that stuff out a year or so ago. TCD
  9. I think we're getting a new beach to the east of the marina. Real old timers will remember this was the swimming area back when guests swam in Bay Lake. I saw this big area encircled by a silt fence in that area when I was at the Fort last week: This boat was parked next to the area: The view from here isn't awful: So, chop down some more cypress trees, pulverize them into mulch for more golf cart parking spaces and us filthy crybaby campers have our fireworks viewing. And we'll be out of sight and downwind from the rich folks. Which is how it must
  10. I used to always bring a case of bottled water in a duffle bag, but skipped that on our last cruise. We just used Yeti tumblers to fill with ice water. Those hold a lot of water, and not having bottles of water in the fridge left more room for beer. TCD
  11. Yes, I saw those, and they do look like houseboats. If they are, I can't imagine that they would let guests drive them around. But, if they're not going to be operational boats, then why mess with them? This also opens the possibility of them building docks with shore power for these around Discovery Island. That would be something. TCD
  12. If you're a beer or wine drinker, you're allowed a six pack of beer or a bottle of wine per adult. Your beer will taste better than the $8 beers they sell on the ship. TCD
  13. I agree. When I heard that rumor it didn't make sense that sites near the Meadow would be more valuable than sites near the Settlement. But if the Settlement is gone, it makes sense. TCD
  14. That plus all of the construction flags and stakes in the field next to Pioneer Hall and even further to the east. Some genius made the decision that this real estate was too valuable to leave it as an amenity for lowly campers. This is a big FU to the Fort and its loyal guests. TCD
  15. It's funny you mention the DVC perspective. I didn't like the old plans, but at least there was separation between it and the Settlement, and I thought the Settlement would still feel like the Settlement. For the first time ever, I thought I might buy in to the DVC. It would be cool to stay at this resort and be able to walk over to the Settlement. But this new plan totally erases the Settlement and makes it part of the resort. I'm sure it will be very nice, but I can't see myself sitting on the Crockett's Tavern porch and looking at all of this. No thanks. TCD
  16. I think you answered your own question. You and hundreds of other guests are still shelling out the big bucks for your concrete slabs. Disney has no incentive to work any faster. TCD
  17. The A frame structures look like the buildings on the west side of the project. I'm guessing these are DVC villas. But then there are five or so brown buildings further back. Are those Fort Wilderness style cabins? Sure looks like it. Whatever is going on there, it looks like the entire length of Clementine's Beach is being taken over by the new resort. That is pure and unnecessary greed. TCD
  18. That's what I was afraid of. If this is for real, then this project has shifted way further east than the previous plans, and the entire Settlement area as we know it is going to be gone and consumed by the new resort. TCD
  19. Wow. I am trying to process this. Is the building I've marked with the purple arrow the Settlement Trading Post? I think it is. And I think I might cry. TCD
  20. Thanks. There's an older CM whose family was friends with the Disney family, so she knew Walt as a child. I hear she gives a good tour. TCD
  21. Great to hear! Do you know the name of their tour guide? TCD
  22. How convenient. That will open the door to some kind of paid skip the line option. TCD
  23. Disney will offer you an easy solution to the silver passholder issue. TCD
  24. I figure that the CM lot is now the construction lot. Or it's in the footprint of the new resort. TCD
