I'm glad you said something. It was good to meet you and your wife. Hopefully, we will meet up again at the Fort when we are both there camping!
Also, good catch pointing out that they blocked off that sodded area from parking- I forgot people used to cram in there too.  So, they removed more than the 20 spaces I estimated.

It was great meeting you and your daughter today.  I sat down at the table and thought, "That looks like TCD!".
I'll add a few more pictures here.  It seems as though in addition to reducing the number of carts parked up near the marina, they've eliminated carts pulling directly into walkways.  My wife was wondering if someone walking was hit by a cart in that area and that sparked this change.  Here are some more pictures.  No additional explanation necessary; TCD covered it well.

The new fence on the far side of this walkway shows an area that used to be parking but is now fenced off and sodded:

@djsamuel wasn't lying. I ran into him and his wife over at Roaring Fork this afternoon and he has photos to share.
    But so do I . . .
Nothing looks too different as you walk toward the marina, but look at all the bikes up ahead on the left:

Here's a closer look at the new bike racks and boulders which now block all the parking spaces closest to the playground:

The area to the right as you approach the marina now has four metal picnic tables parked on it:

The ultimate indignity is the placement of this fake boulder on the site of the Lawnmower Tree:

The prexisting parking area to the north of the Settlement Trading Post is still there:

There are no signs restricting driving on any of the existing paths. So all that has happened is the removal of about 20 cart spaces. Pedestrians arriving or departing from the marina area will still have to dodge the golf carts driving in and out of the area on the lake side of the Trading Post.

For information purposes, I snapped a photo of the Fort merchandise on display at the Settlement Trading Post today, February 14, 2018:

The mugs are from Big Thunder Mountain, and say "It's the wildest ride in the wilderness!"  I guess since they use the word wilderness, the merchandise people think Fort campers will buy them.
On a happier note, they are providing a choice between two ugly tire covers.  How long have they been promising us new ones?

Who proof read that sign?  There are at least 3 different ways of writing today's holiday on there:  Valentines Day (with no apostrophe), Valentine Day, and Valentine's Day.
Probably the same person who can't figure out whether it's Meadow or Meadows.  Or is it Meadow's?

Man, I miss the good old days when you could drive your golf cart wherever you wanted. Down that path by River Country, behind Pioneer Hall, in front of Pioneer Hall, through that path into the 100 loop, down the path behind the 300 loop, through the 1400 loop and over the bridge behind the Meadow Trading Post. You used to be allowed to drive to Wilderness Lodge.
They've restricted all of the above.
And do you know how many alternate routes they have provided?
    None!
No wonder the remaining pathways are so congested.

This exactly.  The animal was her responsibility and no one made her do anything. By her account she had *hours* to find a solution and was even willing to rent a car.  So... why not take a cab to the local animal shelter?  And how did she get to the airport?  She claims she had no friends or family close by, but couldn't she bring the animal back home in all that time?  She could have at least left him with a bunch of food and water until she could get someone to go by her place and check in on him.  I also have to think that if a crying girl is walking around an airport terminal with a cute furry animal in a carrier that someone would have taken pity and taken the critter off her hands.
I read somewhere that it was in a carrier.

And the kicker to the story... her lawyer confirmed she's already bought another hamster.

There's also a quick way to the MK from there. Head through the Beach Club lobby to their bus stop, and it's a nonstop ride to the MK from there. If you're at the back of Epcot, this will save you the long walk to the front, waiting for the Epcot monorail, and then transferring at the TTC.

I have a first-hand report about having a dog at the cabins.
The TCD gang made a quick two night visit over Thanksgiving.  Just Wednesday and Thursday nights.
I would have liked to stay longer, but we had to pay rack rates for the cabin, and they are expensive.  Plus, we did have to pay the $50 per night pet fee on top of that.
I checked in on Wednesday, November 22, at just before noon.
I did not do online check-in, but it was offered to me.  I wanted to check-in in person, so I would be sure to get the pet goodie bag that is part of the deal.
This is what the Disney Parks Blog says about that:
At check-in, Pluto’s Welcome Kit includes mat, bowls, a pet ID tag, courtesy plastic disposable bags, puppy pads and dog walking maps. Also included: a Pluto “Do Not Disturb” door hanger indicating to hotel staff that a pet is in the room.
    https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2017/10/dogs-welcome-at-select-walt-disney-world-hotels-starting-oct-15/
And this is what I got:

All of the stuff you see on the table was inside the yellow bag.  There was no pet ID tag, but there was a bandana.  There was one "puppy pad," and the bowls were suitable for a small dog.
As far as them keeping dogs on certain loops, I was assigned to the 2600 loop, and the CM told me that they did not have any open cabins on the two designated dog cabin loops.
I was required to sign this pet agreement:

And they gave me this set of rules for the dog park:

This is the "Pluto" "Do Not Disturb" door hanger.  I don't see anything about Pluto on it:

As everyone here already predicted, there were dogs on all of the cabin loops.  There were dogs in the cabins on both side of our cabin.
Fortunately, all of the dogs around us were well behaved, and we had no incidents.  One of the dogs next door barked at anything that walked by, but other than that, it was quiet.  I did hear some loud and constant barking coming from a neighboring loop, though.
For us, the experiment was a success.  It's way overpriced though, so I am not sure that we will be doing this very often.

There is so much about that story that doesn't add up.  For instance, if Pebbles was so small it could fit in the palm of her hand, why not hide it and sneak it on the flight?  Also, I can't imagine someone that needs an emotional support animal would ever willingly flush that animal down the toilet.  I would think they'd do anything in their power to protect that animal.  Thirdly, since when does PETA not respond to a request for comment from the media?  I've never known them to pass up free publicity.  And finally, why is it news that Spirit Airlines provided poor customer service to someone?  Isn't that the only thing they are good at?
Too many things ain't right with that story.
