Are they in the parks with her/you and they don't want to go on rides?

Or are they sitting home and you are using their MBs to get on rides?

If they crack down, seems like that loophole will be gone.

Neither. They're at home, but we are not using their MBs.

Since the accounts are linked in MDE, my wife can make them FastPasses (as if they were going to a park for a day).

Once we use up our 3 FastPasses, she's able to switch the riders on their 3 FastPasses from them to us. (As if we had all gone together and they decided they didn't want to ride; instead of switching MagicBands- you can switch the riders on the FastPass).

We then use our MBs to get onto the ride.

  2. For 2 hours north of the Fort, we've stayed at what was called Oaks N' Pines in Lake City. It's now Lake City RV Resort. I don't think it had a playground, though- at least not on the end that we were at (campground map looks like they do not- https://www.flickr.com/photos/dougsetzer/24502952802/in/album-72157663367343970/

I only have 1 picture of our site, but it's not a good one because we had pulled in backwards to be facing friends.

Actually, what Doug is talking about may still be allowed, because you can assign a FP+ to the account of someone who is in the park with a valid ticket before it's used.  If that is still allowed, then the FP+ will be used by a guest who is in the park with a valid ticket.

I think that is still going to be OK.  They don't care who actually uses the FP.

That could be.  I read Doug's post as meaning that they book FP's to the AP of a friend who is not visiting the parks that day, and use those.  Perhaps I read it wrong.  I don't understand all of the ins and outs of the MDE system, accounts, the way things are linked, etc.

TCD said what I meant (just you know- understandable). My wife will use a friend's Annual Passes to book the FastPasses in their names. Then, after we have used our 3 FastPasses per person, she'll switch the riders from our friends to us. At that point, they're our FastPasses and we use our bands.

It is good to see they are doing something about FP abuse. I don't know why they didn't use entrance validation to begin with but its better late than never.

Agreed- I was always surprised the system didn't check this.

I'm curious if you'll still be able to swap out FastPasses for other people. My wife uses the accounts of friends who have APs to book FastPasses. Once our 3 FPs a day are used up, she'll swap the riders from them to us. Since we had admission into the park- it should be legit.

  5. We like the 800 loop and being in the site around 860. They're...

    • close to the bus stop but you don't hear it
    • no one is behind you
    • close to the bathhouse
    • you can easily walk to the Marina faster than the bus gets there.

Here is site 862. It has been the most private site we've been on with a fair amount of tall vegetation between us and our front-side neighbor.

    Here is 861:

And here is 864, it was less private between us and the front-side neighbor but still spacious:

  6. I'm in a 42' fifth wheel and am pulling with a crew cab/long bed truck, so I know your concern. Make sure they know you're in a 42' rig - that it's marked in your notes or something. I've both requested sites/loops and have let the Fort pick. They've yet to put me into a spot that I couldn't get into. We have been on Preferred (200 loop) and Premium sites (600, 800, and 1300 loops).

I haven't done full hookup sites, but it sounds like they're generally more parkable than in the Preferred loops.

    You can do it! :D

The neat thing about Florida springs is that the water temperature stays pretty constant- so on cold days, the water can feel "warm."  I remember taking my kids tubing in the Rainbow River one year on New Year's Eve.  Yes, we were cold, but we all survived, and it was fun.

There are plenty of days between December and March when it will be in the 70's and above- you could tube on any of those days and enjoy it.

Thanks for the info. Maybe we'll stay in the park or nearby and test our luck.

Another great park in the same area near Apopka is an Orange county park called Kelly Park. It has Rock Springs where you can tube a 20 minute run and has a large swimming area. RV/tent camping available too.

I just learned of this place on Facebook. Hard time for me is that I only do Florida in the cold months (Dec-Mar), so couple a potentially cool day with cold water and I'm not sure it makes sense for us to go. :(

  9. We're pretty split on driving vs. using Disney transportation. Except for Magic Kingdom, for that we always take the boat.

If we do NOT have a golf cart, we'll drive way more than using Disney's transportation. I despise waiting for an internal Fort bus to go wait for a bus. I know people say these are quick, but I seem to have crappy luck with them. At the parks, we often just walk instead of using the trams- with a stroller and multiple bags (yes, we're those people), it's just too much of a hassle; plus we have split up before and it was quicker to just walk.

Sometimes I claim I'll drive the truck to the bus depot (like we do for golf carts), but we never park. We always just keep driving. Good intentions and all. :D

If we have a golf cart, we'll drive that up to the bus depot and then will take Disney transportation more than we'll drive.

As for traffic, I've never found it to be bad (but then again- I spent 10 years in the Baltimore/DC region). Except for park closing- that can back up traffic in the parking lots. Same thing happened to us once at Disney Springs... not sure what the mass release of people was from, but we sat in stop + go for a bit.

The signage can be a little confusing but a couple of trips around and it gets easier to figure out. Google Maps is your friend.
