With Walt Disney World having its phased reopening for select resort hotels beginning on June 22, it’s leaving a lot of people wondering what exactly will be reopening along with them and what will be changing.

One of the major changes we have noticed (and that Disney World has confirmed) is the club-levels. Many Guests were wondering how Disney would handle the club-levels upon reopening. In case you aren’t familiar, club-level is only available at the Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World and has many advantages. In fact, one of the biggest draws to club-level is the lounge and food.

Well, unfortunately for all of those who were hoping club-level would remain the same upon reopening — Disney has confirmed that club-level will be unavailable. According to the Walt Disney World updates website:

Some Disney Resort hotel services will be modified or unavailable during the initial reopening period, based on physical distancing and health guidelines. Changes include:

    • Bell Services will deliver luggage to rooms, but will not escort Guests
    • Club-level service will be temporarily unavailable
    • Deliveries will only be made to occupied rooms
    • In-room celebrations will not be available
    • Dry-cleaning and valet laundry services will be temporarily unavailable; self-service laundry will remain available
    • Shipping services will be temporarily unavailable
    • Resort airline check-in service may be temporarily unavailable

The long-awaited Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars series coming to Disney+ has finally been given an update by its director Deborah Chow, who has confirmed the series is still a go!

According to Comicbook.com, Chow, who also serves as the director of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, has confirmed that the six-episode series is still in development at Disney+ during a pre-recorded Mandalorian panel that aired during a live stream of this year’s virtual ATX Festival.

Chow confirmed the news after Taika Waititi joked he was “all finished” with his Star Wars feature film, which prompted Chow to update fans of her Obi-Wan series. “We have a little more to do than that, but we’re in development,” said Chow.

As exciting as it was for fans to get this update it’s worth noting they’re still in the dark as to when the series will be released on the Disney+ streaming platform. The update by Chow also failed to give fans a precise understanding of what point of development the series was in as well–leaving fans with no possible timeline to go off of for its release.

However, what we do know about the series is that it will star Ewan McGregor and will be taking place between the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The series is said to follow an exiled Kenobi on the deserted planet Tatooine, where he serves as the secret guardian of future Jedi Luke Skywalker.

As we’ve shared in the past, this series has faced quite a few roadblocks on its journey to coming to completion since it was first announced at D23 Expo 2019. This included the series facing rewrites from a new writer and complete pauses on its production following the recent pandemic. However, it seems the series is now moving forward again and we couldn’t be more excited.

Not one — Not two — Not three — but four live-action Disney films will be coming to Disney+ early!

If you are a fan of Disney’s live-action films you are going to love this news. Some of Disney’s most beloved live-action movies have been noticeably missing from the streaming service, however, now it looks as though Disney is now making them available to subscribers. But the better news? These films are coming earlier than originally expected!

The Jungle Book, Alice Through The Looking Glass, Beauty and the Beast, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, have all been confirmed to arrive on Disney’s streaming service — Disney+ — in the United States earlier than we expected!

    The Jungle Book

The Jungle Boooriginally had a Disney+ release date of May 30 2021, however, now the release date reads June 19th 2020. — Almost a whole year earlier than planned!

Jon Favreau’s live-action The Jungle Book is based on the original Disney Animated Classic of the same name. The movie follows Mowgli, a child who was raised in the jungle by wolves. According to Disney+, “When he’s threatened by fearsome tiger Shere Khan, Mowgli — a man-raised cub in the jungle by a family of wolves — is forced to abandon the only home he’s ever known, embarking on a captivating journey of self-discovery.”

    Alice Through The Looking Glass

Alice Through The Looking Glass is now heading back to Disney+ — almost two years earlier than originally announced! Instead of arriving to the streaming service on July 11th, 2022, the live-action film will now be arriving on August 28th.

The official Disney+ description of the film reads, “When Alice comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland, she discovers that her friend The Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) has lost his Muchness and embarks on a perilous race to save him before time runs out.”

    Beauty and the Beast

Disney has updated the release date for the 2017 live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast from October 1 2020 to Friday, August 21st.

Based on the original Disney Movie by the same name, this live-action film follows the story and characters that we all know and love as they come to life. “Experience the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who, seeking to rescue her father, is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle.” — Disney+

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the last of the four Disney films to be moved up — This one moves from December 2nd, 2020 to Friday, July 24th, 2020.

The official Disney+ description of this Disney film reads, “Captain Jack Sparrow is pursued by old rival Captain Salazar and a crew of deadly ghosts who have escaped from the Devil’s Triangle. They’re determined to kill every pirate at sea… notably Jack.”

  5. Since many of us around the country are still grounded, I would like to offer up a helping hand.  If you make craft items, handmade items, or have something to sell, please consider listing it in our buy and sell forums.  I know most of the time, we have only had RV related things there and I would like to expand it.  I know many of you are doing things at home and selling them online.  There will be NO COST to list items and NO COST to sell items here.  It is very much a community sale.  You make it, you sell it.  All I ask is that you and the buyer use a service to protect each of you, like paypal.  I am not an affiliate of paypal but I do know that, from experience, they are very fair.

There are NO restrictions except things that you would not want your kids to see.

Questions?  Let me know.  (yes, I know I am changing my mind about some things, just be Elsa and let it go.)

Artist Redesigns NBA Team Logos with a Disney Twist

The NBA is going to Walt Disney World! As excitement builds for the return of this professional sport, as well as the fact the season will be held at the Place Where Dreams Come True, one artist has taken the liberty to mark the announcement in her own awesome way.

@pkairdesigns of Melbourne, Australia decided to Disney-fy some of the NBA’s most well-known team logos.

The first two she shared were of the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks. Dressing Mickey Mouse as Lucky the Leprechaun, and replacing the Buck with Bambi, @pkairdesigns shared the designs on her Instagram saying:

“Disney x NBA mashup logos following the recent announcement!! Keen as to get some more done, let me know what teams you want to see next.”

She followed her first two logos by adding Rex from Toy Story into the Toronto Raptor’s logo and replaced the Golden Gate bridge with Sleeping Beauty Castle in the Golden State Warriors logo.

But PK didn’t stop there. In fact, she got more creative with the designs. She featured Bonzai the hyena from Disney’s The Lion King as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Crunch the Wolf and Pumbaa as Benny the Bull for the Chicago Bulls.

Her latest post features Winnie the Pooh as Grizz from the Memphis Grizzlies, and she gives the LA Lakers Mouse Ears.

The artist has made it clear she’s not done yet. Not only does she want to hear your thoughts on her designs, but also it appears she is taking requests as well.

22 teams will be converging on the Walt Disney World resort to complete the 2019-20 season and include the following teams:

The NBA's return plan includes 13 Western Conference teams and nine Eastern Conference teams.

    Here's who's in, according to @wojespn.

It will be interesting to see if this artist takes up the challenge of giving all 22 teams a Disney twist. Follow her on Instagram to keep up with her latest work.

While it is exciting to see the NBA going to Disney World, it will not be a vacation. The NBA will reportedly ensure that players will be under strict guidelines during their stay. When they are not playing games or practicing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, they will apparently be staying at three Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. The names of those resorts have yet to be released. Play is set to resume on July 31 and expected to end no later than October 12.

  7. I got a notification last night that the magnets will be here TODAY instead of tomorrow.  As soon as the box gets here, I will take pictures and post them here.  I will then start to send out invoices to those who have expressed interest.  Once it is paid, I will do my best to pack them up and ship out the same day.  If you know of anyone that would like a magnet, please let them know of the update.  I will be invoicing via email on paypal through goods and services so everyone is protected.  I do have cash app and venmo, but I would like this to be straight business transactions.  This way the money goes straight into the FF account and I don't have to play transfer games.

If y'all are interested in having Snarky do appearances on magnets for a holiday, I am sure Monique can be persuaded (paid) to get us set up with some artwork.  She is da bomb.

Well aware. Also some of the metal fabrication forums I visit has had some folks get cease and desist letters from Disney. Although, it is rare, but it does happen. I think it has more to do with the profile of the seller, and if they choose to advertise them through AdSense, etc

Yeah, not gonna do it.  (in my best Saturday Nigh Live voice)

    Planning Your Disney Parks Vacation

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products logo

    by Guest Relations, Disney Parks

An update from Guest Relations at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort

    Dear Guests,

It’s an understatement to say that the past few months have been a challenging time for us all.  As we navigate the longest park closures in our histories, we’ve loved hearing your kind words of hope and seeing how you’ve made your own Disney memories at home has uplifted and inspired us all.

During this time, we know it can be difficult to plan your Disney vacation. Now more than ever we’re longing for the opportunity to come together with family and friends to escape, to celebrate, to re-do missed milestones, like birthdays and anniversaries and to make new Disney memories.

Given the current uncertainty as to when we will reopen Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort, we’ve had to periodically adjust the schedule for the ability to book hotel reservations at our resorts. While we’re currently accepting reservations starting in July 2020 at both resorts, as this situation evolves, timing may continue to shift.

As we continue to follow guidance from government and health care officials regarding how we’ll be able to reopen our parks and resorts in a responsible way, we may also need to make real-time adjustments to booked experiences, park tickets and park passes.

Please know that if any reservations you may have made need to change, we will work with you to make the necessary modifications.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to check out the recent blog post from our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pamela Hymel, on how we’re planning for re-opening our parks and resorts.

Our focus remains on the safety of the entire Disney community. Be sure to keep checking our websites for more details, and stay tuned for more information right here on the Disney Parks Blog

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this unprecedented time together. We continue to be moved by the incredible support and passion our guests have shown for our Disney family, and we hope to see you real soon.

We previously reported that the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World was the clear frontrunner to house the NBA for the remainder of its 2019-2020 season, and the NBA has just released a very interesting statement on Twitter. Executive Vice President of Communications Mike Bass confirmed that the NBA and the Walt Disney Company are “engaged in exploratory conservation”.

    NBA Statement

With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ declaration that live professional sports are essential services, as well as former Cast Member turned Sports Commentator Keith Smith’s piece in Yahoo Sports calling the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex an “ideal spot” to salvage the 2019-2020 NBA season, the Twittersphere has been speculating about upcoming announcements for weeks now.

In his article, Smith explained that he favored the complex because it has the capacity to house all of the players, coaches, trainers, officials, broadcasters, and other essential personnel in one location, limiting their exposure to the outside world, and therefore, the coronavirus. Smith also outlined possible options for accommodations including Disney’s Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts, as well as Disney’s Riviera Resort if more higher-end housing was needed. WDWNT also believes that Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort might also be a great option, being that it is a moderate resort and more luxurious than value resorts like Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

The Visa Center within the complex can accommodate as many as six full-sized basketball courts, or be configured stadium-style with one primary court, and it broadcast-ready, making it a great option for practice as well as games.

Aside from the practical logistics that the complex can provide, the Walt Disney Company and the NBA already have demonstrated an effective way of working together with the opening of the NBA Experience at Disney Springs last summer.

Imagineers have redesigned the Tri-Circle-D Ranch, which will offer a modern stable and updated outdoor spaces and facilities for “The Happiest Horses on Earth.” The new ranch will maintain the history and spirit of the original Tri-Circle-D, welcoming guests to explore exhibits of classic Disney equestrian artifacts, some of which date back to the 1950s!

There appears to be a completed walking path in front of the stables, and if you look closely, you can spot a few white horses, possibly ponies, near the stables. Can you spot them in this zoomed-in image below? Could they be Cinderella’s Ponies?

The ranch houses nearly 100 horses in a wide range of breeds, including Appaloosas, Arabians, Belgians, Clydesdales, paint horses, Percherons, and quarter horses, as well as the aforementioned Shetland ponies. The horses are used for horse-drawn carriage rides, wagon rides, horseback riding lessons, pony rides, and during the holiday season, sleigh rides at the resort.

The new ranch is part of a major expansion plan of the area behind Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge & Campground, which was formerly a water park called River Country. Last month, we reported that construction has continued on the site, despite most of the Walt Disney Resort remaining closed because of the novel coronavirus. While nothing has been confirmed, we may be able to ascertain that the new location of the Tri-Circle D Ranch will encourage guests of the both resorts to utilize this area for various activities.

With no minor league baseball games to be played, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos are getting creative and diving into the hospitality business.

The team, the Class AA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins that plays in the Southern League, listed Blue Wahoos Stadium on Airbnb, starting at $1,500 a night (plus fees).

Up to 10 guests can stay at the stadium, with four bunk beds and a pair of queen sized beds available in rooms adjacent to the clubhouse. Visitors will have full access to the stadium, including the batting cages.

Per the listing, "guests are welcome to hit from home plate, play catch in the outfield, run the bases, enjoy a picnic in the outfield, or find other creative uses for the field!"

The clubhouse features "four leather couches, two flat screen TVs, a ping pong table, padded chairs and two large tables. Two bathrooms with showers are connected directly to the clubhouse." There are two more flat screens and a kitchenette in the bedroom.

A Blue Wahoos staff member will remain on site throughout the stay to answer questions and provide security.

The Blue Wahoos, co-owned by professional golfer Bubba Watson, set up a disc golf course on the field for fans to enjoy on Friday and will do so again Sunday. On Saturday, a local baseball tournament took place on the field. And on May 29, Pensacola is hosting a movie and fireworks night.

NEW YORK CITY — An organization in New York City is working on an out-of-the-box idea to bring life back to one of the city’s most iconic gathering places that’s been sitting eerily empty for months.

With no Major League Baseball games scheduled to be played in the foreseeable future, MASC Hospitality Group, a New York-based events organizer, saw all the empty parking spaces at Yankee Stadium and saw the opportunity to create what it calls a “social distancing playground.”

The organization decided to take advantage of the recent resurgence of drive-in movies and announced the Uptown Drive-In Experience.

Organizers plan to offer a “complete drive-in experience with live performances from local artists, car-side dinner service from our fantastic street vendors, drinks from local and national brands, a movie feature presentation, games, raffles and tons of giveaways,” according to the event’s official website.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are intended for more of a date-night feel, with a more family-friendly brunch series scheduled for earlier hours on Saturday and Sunday.

The Uptown Drive-In Experience is one of a number of community activities being planned by MASC Hospitality this summer for New York City, which was hit especially hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Since we were planning on having the Bronx Night Market, the Bronx Beer Festival and Uptown Epicure Festival running this summer, which was supposed to start in May, we already had a lot of great options available,” Marco Shalma of MASC Hospitality Group told Time Out. “Everyone is so excited about the possibility of connecting sooner [at this new experience] than initially planned.”

Tickets will be available to buy online and a waiting list is currently available on the event’s website. The price of the all-inclusive movie ticket has not been released yet but Shalma hopes that information will be available soon.

“We’re working with city and state officials, and some of our sponsors to reduce cost as much as we can to be able to make this very affordable, and for as many New Yorkers as possible,” Shalma told Time Out. “Also, with the help of our partners, we will be able to raffle a bunch of tickets.”

Drive-in theaters making comeback during pandemic

    May 18, 2020 at 10:12 AM CDT - Updated May 18 at 2:55 PM

STEPHENS CITY, Va. (CNN) – Even with the rain coming down, business has been up recently at the Family Drive-In Theatre.

“People are seeing it as a safe environment, a safe way to come out to see the movie,” said manager James Kopp.

With traditional cinemas and Hollywood itself reeling from lost income due to the coronavirus pandemic, drive-ins appear to be offering a rare and surging bright spot for the industry, and for fans weary of sheltering at home.

They started back in the early 1900s as an alternative to the stuffy, cramped conditions in some early theaters. They boomed in the 1950s and 1960s then fell into decades of decline.

But now that old idea suddenly seems new – and needed.

And it’s not just for movies. Country music star Keith Urban recently staged a tribute concert to health care workers at a drive-in, suggesting live entertainment may also find a home in the automotive amphitheaters.

At Kopp’s theater, moviegoers recently expressed their support for hospital staffers with a blast of horns. Then the light faded, the projector came alive, and for at least a little while, people sat apart but felt close.

“To me, it’s like, ‘Yes, oh my goodness!’ It’s like we’re back and we’re bringing the community back together – yes!” Kopp said. “The American drive-in theater rides again.”

The Family Drive-In Theatre is still practicing social distancing by telling people to stay apart, limiting the number of people who come in, and asking customers to make advanced reservations, but for a lot of people, it’s a good option for a night out after so many nights in.

Hong Kong Disneyland appears to be the next worldwide Disney theme park getting ready to reopen. While we’re on the eve of Disney Springs reopening here in Walt Disney World, Shanghai Disneyland is already open and Hong Kong Disneyland has reportedly begun Cast Member soft openings.

According to @hkdl_of_fantasy on Twitter, Hong Kong Disneyland has begun Cast Member soft openings to train on the new safety procedures that have been put in place to keep guests and Cast Members safe when the park reopens. The soft opening period will continue through May 21st.

Hong Kong Disneyland has not announced a reopening date, but similar Cast Member testing occurred in the few weeks leading up to the Shanghai Disneyland reopening.

Star Wars has revealed the origin of Kylo Ren's distinctive lightsaber. There's been more recent talk about Rey's new lightsaber from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Before that, Kylo Ren's blade made a big impression when it first appeared in the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The prequel comic book series The Rise of Kylo Ren reveals what led Kylo Ren to develop that distinctive blade. Charles Soule writes the series, which features artwork by Will Sliney. The series starts with Ben Solo's departure from Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple. It goes on to show how he fell in line with Snoke, first met the Knights of Ren, and took the name of Kylo Ren.

That burning red lightsaber of his is the same lightsaber he built while training to be a Jedi. The blade was once blue. After he fell to the dark side, Ben attempted to make his lightsaber's kyber crystal bleed. This process is what gives the lightsabers of every Sith Lord their red blades.

But Ben may have overdone it. He did bleed the crystal, as intended, but he also cracked it. He tried to reinstall the crystal in his lightsaber, but unrestricted energy from the broken crystal caused the weapon to short out. Ben came up with the idea of installing the crossguard, which allows the excess blade energy to shoot out from the hilt's side. And that's when he became Kylo Ren in full.

What do you think of this origin for Kylo Ren's lightsaber? Let us know in the comments. All four issues of The Rise of Kylo Ren are on sale now. The collected edition will release in July.
