Disney has officially, and quietly, released the points chart for their all-new Disney Vacation Club property – Disney Riviera Resort.

All told, there are 5 different room types, and two different views – standard and preferred. Here’s the full Disney Riviera Resort DVC Points Chart for 2020.

    RVA_VacationPointsChart-1.jpg

In addition to the above points chart, pricing charts have also been released. The price per point is currently $188, with annual dues at Disney Riviera Resort of $8.31 per point.

There is also a 2020 rack rate chart available.

Finally, here’s a look at the Disney Riviera Resort Map.

  2. A good friend and fiend, Jim Pecoy, is in need of blood donations.  He is a really neat camping buddy and has been to many-a-gathering.  He has had 14 pints of blood since the beginning of February.  Please help our veteran Fiend by taking a small amount of your time and donating a pint of blood in his name.  Even though he is in Florida, every bit counts and hopefully they will contact the local hospital and let them know his group of Fiends are helping out.  Please, if you can, post a picture of you helping so we can share with his family.

    Thanks so much in advance,

Close your eyes and imagine this with me. You’re at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, surrounded by your loved ones, and it’s hot. I mean really hot, and not the dry kind of hot, but the kind where the humidity drenches you instantly when you walk outside. Now, you walk towards Asia and look up to find the greatest news! Kali River Rapids! is open again! Time to cool off. The white water adventure awaits your arrival.

Kali River Rapids! Reopens at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Kali River Rapids! recently opened from it’s planned refurbishment in January 2019. Closing during January is typically when Walt Disney World does so since not many people enjoy the water rides during the colder months! They also do this for the water parks each year to update/refurbish anything needed.

It is no secret that the 30th Anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios is coming up.  While this milestone will be achieved technically on May 1, 2019, the theme park has already been celebrating.

Starting on March 31, 2019, a newly updated park map will make its debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The new design will feature the 30th-anniversary logo. It will also feature a photo from the all-new Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy show.  While the area of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is labeled in the My Disney Experience app, it is not in this new map.  Check out the design below.  I must say that I find this updated park map super adorable and am loving the new design!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been celebrating its 30th anniversary!  All the details can be found HERE.  The Incredibles made their debut at the park on January 18 complete with a meet and greet with Edna Mode as well as a dance party.  A meet and greet with Mike and Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.” also made its debut.  Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy opens March 31 which perfectly aligns with the new park map!  The Wonderful World of Animation will debut on May 1 to take Guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation.  Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will make its debut later this year.  Lastly, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open to Guests starting on August 29, 2019.

  6. https://chipandco.com/disneyland-is-testing-mobile-only-ordering-for-dole-whips-346853/

(currently this is only at Disneyland)

    Quote

If you are a Dole Whip fan waiting in the line to order can seem like the longest wait of the day. The tropical frozen treats are arguably one of the most popular treats at Disneyland, and the line stretching down the path in Adventureland supports this theory. However, starting March 28, Dole Whip lovers will be able to skip the line with a new mobile-only ordering feature. Rather than stand in the congested and seemingly never-ending line at the Tiki Juice bar, those craving the sweet treat will order and pay on the go then pick up at the familiar location.

Guests who prefer to pay with cash, credit or debit cards will still be able to order at Tropical Hideaway. This new location is not so new per se, but is newly reimagined into a quick service dining location. Tropical Hideaway is tucked conveniently between The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise. Offering a new spin on the traditional Dole Whip, Tropical Hideaway has several flavors of the tasty treats. Options include floats, swirls, and loaded whips. Additionally, diners can choose to adorn their Dole Whip of choice with different toppings.

The mobile-only ordering option is part of what Disneyland is calling the Project Stardust Initiative. The project is designed to identify and alleviate the crowds that inevitably seem to gather at certain spots in the park. These pinch points make passing difficult and impede the pedestrian flow of travel throughout the park. The initiative takes a look at how to best handle the crowds expected when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens May 31.

If you would like to try the new mobile-only ordering option the window to do so is short. The test run is occurring from March 28-3o at Tiki Juice Bar. With any luck, the test will be deemed a success and waiting in a long line for the frosty treat will be a thing of the past.

  7. My dad and my sister's father-in-law were on scooters last year when they went.  Both of them have severe back problems and have had surgery, so they cannot keep up with my sister's family, who are all under the age of 10.  The rudeness goes both ways, as they wanted to go slow because they were learning the scooters.  There were families (mostly younger) cussing the two of them out because they "weren't going fast enough".  I told my dad that from now on, we would rent them a wheelchair.  I have noticed, just from my personal observations, that if you are pushing someone in a wheelchair, people react to that in a more positive way than a scooter.  Just my opinion however.

For years, the theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort haven’t been overly strict on the size of strollers brought in by guests. Well, it appears as if all of that may soon change as stroller size limits will soon be strictly enforced as will the “no wagons” policy.

walt disney world disneyland stroller size limit keenz wagons

If you check out the list of “Prohibited Items” for Disneyland and Walt Disney World, you will see that guests may not bring in:

    • Strollers larger than 36″x52″ (92cm x 132cm).
    • Any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an Electronic Conveyance Vehicle, wheelchair or stroller, or pulled by a person, including wagons.

Now, these rules haven’t always been enforced which has resulted in big wagons being brought in, stroller-like creations that look like Cinderella’s Coach, and even larger conveyances. Well, it appears as if Disney is going to start cracking down on these items an enforcing the rules in a stricter manner.

As a matter of fact, these newly enforced rules may go into place as of May 1, 2019.

Am told WDW and DLR will start enforcing stroller size limits May 1: 31" by 52", including a "no wagons" policy. Seems to be addressing strollers like the Keenz 7s?

Disney has not officially said anything about this as of yet, but the rules of “no wagons” and not having an overly large stroller have been in place on their websites for years.

  9. According to a Facebook source, (and I cannot confirm this until I get there at the end of the week), all the rented Disney scooters have had a governor and object detection system put on them.  This is in MK only right now and will be implemented to all parks by end of May.

The story was that a disabled person was at the Keys to a Kingdom tour and was riding a rented scooter.  Because it had the detection system on it, it was jolting her to a stop every time someone passed in front of her.  She had to leave the group finally because she could not keep up.

I foresee nightmares "a comin" when the parks are really crowded.

  10. Have you guys seen the prototype soft serve ice cream machine that LG is considering making?  It does work on those pods like the coffee makers, but considering I have been outbid on so many actual ice cream machines for my dole whip obsession, this may be an option. lol

  11. Ok, I know that if I was a person who owned a brick, I would be pissed.  However....

From the perspective of someone who has literally kicked herself since the late 90's for NOT buying one, I am all in?  Why? Because I was actually researching places on where I could get one custom made for us.  Now, I don't have to and I can get a couple for a fraction of the price I was looking at crazy folks who would even consider such a venture.

Yes, call me insane if you would like, but I have wanted one of these FOREVER it seems.  It is one of those items I cannot explain, but to say ok, I give in to the greed.

I will be in line next week to get mine.

Jason wasn’t any help to me, I got up with him about 6 months before and he told me no problems he could get more days for me. I sent him a text two months before my trip and he didn’t even know who I was. About a month before the trip I called Disney checking on something else, I told the agent that I was looking for more days at the Fort the agent got me one more day. I couldn’t get it because I had a agent. Jason never did find me any extra days.

    Geez...

    A first post to remember.

What did your mother tell you about saying something nice or not at all?

It's funny you mention the DVC perspective. I didn't like the old plans, but at least there was separation between it and the Settlement, and I thought the Settlement would still feel like the Settlement. For the first time ever, I thought I might buy in to the DVC. It would be cool to stay at this resort and be able to walk over to the Settlement.

But this new plan totally erases the Settlement and makes it part of the resort. I'm sure it will be very nice, but I can't see myself sitting on the Crockett's Tavern porch and looking at all of this. No thanks.

    TCD

I had the old plans in my head before I read the latest plans.  Now I am just sad and disappointed.  I swear I was sick to my stomach.  We love staying at OKW, but it is a different experience than camping at the Fort or anywhere else.  I am in no mood to mix the two honestly.
