  1. Thanks guys.  It has been rough because he was in his second remission and his heart gave out.  I got to say goodby via FaceTime.  It all happened so quickly.

Thanks Jason for thinking of me.  When I can stop the tears flowing, I will copy the post I made Sunday night.  It took me a while to find the words.  Chris (supergeek) picked up his ashes today.  When I get to the house on Friday ( I am in Huntsville for teacher training and I also get to hang out with Rick and Carol) I will probably have another good cry.  He was my best buddy and we had many trips to Dunkin for coffee and a donut.

  2. If you have ever seen the New Year's or 4th of July fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, you know that the pictures are just a representation because the fireworks are timed perfectly with the explosions of the fireworks.  The result is spectacular and everything else pales in comparison.  There are 252 pictures, a combined effort of supergeek and myself, to look at from the fireworks performance this year.  We took them from the Poly across the pond.

    Enjoy!

  3. I overheated the camera, but managed to get all the carts, marching bands, cast members, police cars and firetrucks.  There is even a unicycle and a potbellied pig!  Enjoy!

I have the fireworks for 4th of July as well and they are taken from the Poly, where I partied with the rockstars!  (old, old joke)  I am going to put them on another thread.

Construction is now underway on widening the walkway that links Liberty Square to Fantasyland behind Cinderella Castle.

The waterway around Cinderella Castle has been drained to facilitate the work.

Click the gallery for more pictures of the work.

Shown in the image above by the orange line, the existing narrow walkway is easy blocked by a stroller or two.

By widening the walkway, it will provide a more convenient shortcut from the central hub area to Fantasyland.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach is offering a bundle of food and merchandise, providing a 20 percent saving over purchasing the items separately.

The Splash Pack includes select food entrées and dessert options, a refillable Disney Water Park mug and a Disney-themed towel to take home.

Guests will be able to choose from “Lilo and Stitch,” “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo” and of course, Mickey Mouse-themed towels.

The limited time pilot will be available March 26 to May 4 2019, and Splash Packs costs $44 per person, plus tax. Splash packs are available at Singapore Sal’s at Typhoon Lagoon or the Beach Haus at Blizzard Beach.

Effective immediately, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Tiki Terrace will now be opening at 3pm. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will now be closing at midnight instead of 12:30am, and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace will be closing at 11pm instead of midnight.

No word on why the change has been made, and Disney has yet to update their website reflecting the changes, but we did the “hard work” of actually going out to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to bring you photos of the updated signage.

We've never had any issues and the majority of the time people are very accomodating. Holding doors etc, even at DL. As I mentioned in the other thread ours are a almost 1/2 the size of the rentals however.

When we are with Fiends that have the smaller scooters, people are much less aggressive towards the people on the scooters.  I believe the rented scooters are too large for the space and functionality of what they were made for.  IMHO

  8. The new NBA Experience is set to open in August.  For those of you who do not know, it will be housed in the old DisneyQuest building.

Disney has announced an opening date for the NBA Experience at Disney Springs. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in the world of the NBA starting August 12th.

Here’s a list of the activities you’ll be able to experience:

    • Experience one of the biggest milestones for a basketball player at the NBA Draft with a photo moment that re-creates the atmosphere of the draft stage.
    • Track and improve their jump shots and passing skills in a replicated NBA Combine challenge, complete with a scouting report that highlights their stats at the end of the session.
    • Step onto the court and hear the roar of the crowd as they maneuver through a series of timed shots to aim for a high score.
    • Execute the perfect slam dunk just like NBA superstars, captured by cameras surrounding adjustable baskets.
    • Test their ball-handling skills with an interactive trainer who will challenge them with a variety of dribbling routines.
    • Use an oversized slingshot to launch basketballs at hoops of varying heights, making as many shots as possible before the clock runs out in this thrilling timed challenge.
    • Immerse themselves in the rich legacy and history of NBA and WNBA championship-winning teams.
    • Access a team locker room that showcases up-to-date statistics and visuals of top NBA and WNBA players.
    • Test their knowledge of the NBA and WNBA – past and present – during a trivia game with up to 25 participants competing against one another to be champion.
    • Enjoy two 180-degree cinematic presentations that showcase the in-arena experience moments before the start of the game, as well as special stories from the players’ perspectives.
    • Take a seat at an interactive multi-screen module to watch replay clips from NBA games, using the tools at their stations to make the right calls.
    • Play interactive basketball games, from the fan-favorite Pop-A-Shot to modern video games

Disney also released some new concept art tonight as part of the announcement that took place during an Orlando Magic game.
