Good News! Disney just caught Abby the lost dog. Used a cage trap chicken& ribs. She was very calm in the cage. They had her a few minutes ago in 1800 by the greenway.  She is finally going home. Please spread the word...😀

I just don't understand these younger people (oh my gosh am I that old that I'm starting to sound like my parents?). In my day when we found a free way into a place or could sneak into areas we shouldn't be we kept it to ourselves so it wouldn't get found out. I mean what good are they if you can't use them again?

Travisma got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Leaked documents show Universal's new theme park is borrowing one of Disney's best ideas
    https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2019/02/04/leaked-documents-show-universals-new-theme-park-is-stealing-one-of-disneys-best-ideas

A few weeks ago, documents began leaking out from a Comcast meeting where Universal’s new Orlando theme park was discussed. The blurry photos showed the Fantastic Worlds name with the Super Mario World concept art behind it.

Since that initial leak, other details from the town hall meeting have begun to surface, giving us brand-new intel on the still-unannounced theme park that will be built along Kirkman and Universal Boulevard, just south and east of Lockheed Martin.

Alicia Stella of Orlando Park Stop stitched together the multiple leaked images along with ones that were shared exclusively with her to create a best guess at what the new theme park looked like. Comcast has yet to verify that the photos are in fact from an official meeting, but multiple insiders have independently confirmed the legitimacy of the documents.

According to the documents, the new park will be one of the largest theme parks Universal has ever built. A hub-and-spoke design, similar to the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, will be used. This is a departure from other Universal parks that have used the "race track" circular model, as seen at Islands of Adventure. Both Universal Studios Singapore, the most recent Universal park to open, and the upcoming Beijing park use the "race track" model. The proposed South Korea, Dubai and indoor Moscow parks all used this layout as well.

Like most hub-and-spoke designs, the new Universal park will have a central icon in the hub, but it is still unclear what this icon will be.

Theming will be front and center in the new park; the days of bland warehouses and carnival rides shoehorned into a theme are long gone. Everything in the park will be “fully immersive,” from the attractions to the restaurants to even the restrooms.

Previous rumors pointed to a few intellectual properties that may be used in the new park. The documents didn’t confirm many, but they do focus heavily on the Super Mario World, which was previously announced for Orlando. That "world" looks to have its green pipe entrance still. Other "worlds" in the new park will have similar entrances that block views into them from the hub area, like that of Diagon Alley.

At the bottom of the leaked page are a number of trademarks, including Harry Potter and Jurassic Park-related ones, but the one that stuck out the most are the mentions of Universal’s classic monsters. Both the Potter and Jurassic Park trademarks might be listed due to other additions not related to the new park (i.e. the new Potter coaster currently under construction at Islands of Adventure and the Jurassic World ride being developed at Universal Studios Hollywood), but the classic monsters have been a long-running rumor for the new park. Recent attempts to revive the monsters brand have been met with box office failures, but with a new movie deal in the works and with new merchandise recently appearing at the Universal theme parks, it looks like this old-school brand might have new life.
Image via HBO It’s thought that the Classic Monsters would be one of the more budget-friendly lands in the new park with more focus being on the other “worlds,” including a New Fantasyland style DreamWorks area that is rumored to be named DreamWorlds, a possible Fantastic Beasts area, and the aforementioned Super Nintendo World. The Fantastic Beasts area is also now in question thanks to the movies underperforming at the box office and Warner Brothers delaying the Fantastic Worlds trademark.

RELATED It really looks like Warner Bros. wants a fight with Universal over their new theme park name
Image via MarkyDark00 | Instagram The WaterWorld water-based stunt show at Universal Studios Hollywood
A Waterworld-themed stunt show is highly rumored for the new park though it is unclear if this would be in its own mini-land or part of a larger land within the park.

The budget for the new park hasn’t been revealed, but Universal Studios Beijing is costing an estimated $6.5 billion, and at the town hall meeting Comcast VP and NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke are reported to have said that between the last eight year and the next five years Universal will spend more on its theme park division than it cost to acquire it.

As Robert Niles pointed out on Theme Park Insider, that figure still doesn’t give us a complete picture of how much the company plans to spend, but it will be somewhere between $16.7 billion and $23.4 billion. With most of the major projects over the next five years already announced or strongly rumored, that budget would give the new Orlando park a final price tag similar to that of the Beijing park.

For comparison, Islands of Adventure cost an estimated $1 billion to construct in the late 1990s, adjusted for inflation that would be just under $1.6 billion today, or roughly a fourth of the cost of the new Beijing park. Diagon Alley cost an estimated $400 million to construct while the upcoming Star Wars land at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland in Anaheim costing a reported $1 billion each to develop.

Despite the mind-boggling price tag for the new park, Universal is planning ahead with entire sections of the park being left for future expansions that will allow for entirely new lands, a distinct shift from earlier parks where they had only attraction size plots within opening day lands for future growth. That design has proven difficult as the parks add Potter, Super Nintendo, and other new franchises to the parks.

During the town hall, Burke also reportedly said that in the past Disney has gotten “a free ride” and Universal was stepping up to end that. The leaked documents mention Universal is hoping that the new park will expand a Universal Orlando vacation from a two or three-day travel destination into a full week-long option.

The new park is expected to open in the early 2020s, likely just after Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2021-2022.

Park specific reusable bags appeared Sunday
As they will be themed, the bags will likely feature park icons and attractions pertaining to each park. The cute designs will surely help dissuade irate guests who otherwise dislike reusable bags, as each of the four park-centric designs will be unique.
Like the World of Disney bags, these reusable totes will likely cost in the $1 to $2 range, depending on size. Following Disney’s effort to reduce its use of single-use plastics by the end of the year, they’ll also be made from 80% recycled material.
If you’re having merchandise delivered to your Disney Resort hotel from the parks, plastic bags will still be used.

The shadowy world of Orlando's theme park urban explorers: Are they legends or are they idiots?
By Seth Kubersky Late last year, the internet lit up with claims that Buzzy, the audio-animatronic star of Epcot's long-closed Cranium Command show, had been stolen from the decommissioned theater where he'd been gathering dust for a decade. When police reports revealed that Patrick Allen Spikes, who posted backstage photos on Twitter as @BackDoorDisney, was questioned in connection with the disappearance of Buzzy's clothing and hands, a bright light was directed on the shadowy yet increasingly popular subculture of theme park urban explorers (aka "urbex").
Few know this perilous pastime better than YouTuber Matt Sonswa, who has gained notoriety by posting videos from inside abandoned attractions – including the last known footage of Buzzy inside Cranium Command – earning himself two lifetime bans from Walt Disney World in the process. Last year, we met in a public park to discuss his clandestine career, and more recently I caught up with him in Celebration, where he and fellow urbex Jake Williams of Bright Sun Films were greeting fans and followers.
A native Floridian from the Fort Lauderdale area, Sonswa started his urban explorations shortly after moving to Orlando in early 2017. "I've always sort of pushed the limits. We used to break into abandoned malls to hang out and mess around, but I never thought about filming places," says Sonswa. It wasn't until he contacted the vlogger "Florida UrbanX" about an abandoned location they had documented that he considered trying it himself.
His first destination was Discovery Island, Walt Disney World's former animal habitat floating in the middle of Bay Lake. "I came across the article by Shane Perez [shaneperez.blogspot.com] on his expedition to Disney's Discovery Island," Sonswa says. "I searched high and low on the internet for any type of video of the island's current state, and there was none whatsoever. So I figured I should go see it and film it myself." Sonswa describes the experience as "like stepping into a time portal back into 1999, everything is just left untouched. That's the beauty of it being on Disney property, nobody can get there."
The resulting YouTube video garnered more than 130,000 views, fueling Sonswa's exploratory ambitions, and he made a return visit to the island in 2018. In between, he was caught in off-limits areas at Epcot ("a lady tried to bring me to the security office in the back of Epcot ... I took off running and sprinted 40 yards through the back of Epcot and found my way back into the park through a maintenance walkway") and at Disney Quest, prior to the Disney Springs arcade's demolition.
"I filmed it and I got out – that's when a security guard approached me and asked, 'Who are you, how did you get in there?'" He was charged with felony burglary (that charge was later dropped) and misdemeanor trespassing, and permanently banned from the resort. Despite that, he has recently posted footage from the peak of the Magic Kingdom's Big Thunder Mountain and from inside the gutted hull of Walt Disney's private airplane.
Reactions to Sonswa's YouTube videos range from "You're a legend, thank you so much" to "You're an idiot, you suck." Likewise, his family is "not too thrilled about it," especially since his arrest: "My brother bailed me out. Me and him were never on good terms, so that was definitely a fun car ride home." Sonswa adds that he wouldn't recommend the urbex experience to most. "It's been kind of a headache in terms of getting arrested. It's definitely not worth it."
Regarding the #FindBuzzy fervor, Sonswa says, "I'm sure it's very frustrating for Disney fans that the company was not able to secure the animatronic into the Walt Disney archives sooner. I'm just glad I was able to document and share the attraction when I did. It really highlights the fact that urban explorers like myself only strive to preserve history. Sadly, when it comes to 'Disney's Magic,' too much curiosity will always get the best of you."
For another perspective, I turned to Dave "Hoot Gibson" Ensign, the godfather of Disney urban explorers, whose exploits with the late Ed "Thunder Chief" Barlow inside Epcot's extinct Horizons ride were featured in the 2015 documentary The Dark Side of Disney. Ensign says he "feels sorry" for modern Disney urbex "because they missed out on the really cool attractions built in a time when safety wasn't a concern and you could get away with so much more," but asserts that "urban exploring and blatant theft are two different things. Explorers usually respect the places they go and don't disturb the place or steal million-dollar figures." However, Ensign also says that "the theft of attraction props [has] been going on since the first shovel of WDW dirt in 1969," and that "the real problem Disney faces these days isn't the kids stealing props. It's the very wealthy who are collecting this stuff and paying huge amounts of money for anything these kids can steal."
And as for Buzzy himself? According to Hoot's sources, the figure was removed by Walt Disney Imagineering and facility maintenance: "They had an order to remove him so people wouldn't hurt themselves by sneaking in there and climbing on the sets. Unfortunately, nobody told operations or security who found it missing and assumed he'd been stolen." Since Disney refuses to comment on the matter, the mystery of the missing animatronic must end there, but it's only a matter of time until the next urbex uproar ignites online.
NOTE: Neither this author nor Orlando Weekly condone trespassing or any other crime. Don't try this at home!

If this was a once in a lifetime trip, $5000 would probably worth it to some people for a family vacation.
For a yearly or multiple times a year trip that's a lot of $$ (at least to me).

NEW PERSONAL SHOPPING SERVICE AT HS
Having trouble finding the right gifts this season? Not sure where to find that one specific toy your child mentioned earlier in your vacation? Just don’t feel like lugging your purchases around the park? Then Hollywood Studios’ new “Complimentary Personal Shopper” service might be right up your alley.
Inside Mickey’s of Hollywood, located on the main drag at Hollywood Studios, you can find a handful of cast members with iPads. They are there to help you through the entire process of finding whatever it is you’re looking for. According to the cast member I spoke with, they can help you locate any specific item in their system via the aforementioned iPad. She said they would also physically show you to where the item is. You can also have all your selections held for you until later, at which point you can purchase them all at once. Or you can purchase them as you go and they will send all the items to package pick-up at the front of the park.
The personal shopper cast members are not available all day, though. I was given an estimate of about 10:30 in the morning to approximately 4:00 in the afternoon. You can expect the availability to shift depending on the day. It is unsure if this is just for the holidays, or if it will roll out to other parks at any point. I’m sure it all depends on if guests and management consider it a success or not.
This really seems to be an amalgamation of several different services Disney has always done. Obviously, any time you purchase something you can opt to send it to package pick-up for later. You can also find specific item locations via the Shop Parks app on your phone at any time. This is just a consolidated version of those services for the less savvy among us. If you plan on doing quite a bit of shopping in Hollywood Studios, it might make sense to track down one of these personal shoppers. It’s free, after all.

Disneyland Addresses Souvenir-Resale Issue by Allegedly Revoking Annual Pass Privileges
Have you ever sacrificed a significant portion of a Disney Parks visit to acquire a must-have, limited edition souvenir? Have you ever had this effort prove entirely fruitless as the shop, Tiki bar, or outdoor vendor sold out of your sought-after item right in front of you? A collectible mug, pin, and popcorn bucket may be worth a half-day investment. Explaining to your kids how you squandered a massive share of your roller-coaster window, and still didn’t get the cool new Funko you promised them is a tragedy.

Whether you hold Disney, or the throng of Philistines pushing past you with their ten bags of undeserved good fortune, responsible, the resultant disappointment can be enough to ruin your day. The notion that some are likely reselling the surplus, rather than gifting it graciously to grandchildren, might strike outside observers as uncool. Disney clearly agrees.
According to a feature in the Orange County Register today, the Disneyland Resort is pursuing a means to curb the longtime practice. Compiled in the article, the OC Register has identified a number of private Annual Passholders who have had their Disneyland passes canceled. The common thread is that each individual in the story engaged in the reselling of items purchased at an annual-pass discount. A Disney no-no.
The individuals in the story are understandably displeased. However, each admitted they understand what they did to be a legitimate violation of the Disneyland Annual Passport Terms and Conditions, which it is. Disney has yet to release a statement regarding the revocations, nor even to confirm that they are indeed taking place. This seems odd. Public knowledge that you can actually lose something as dear as a Disneyland Annual Pass could prove quite the deterrent for unwanted activity. Awareness of the one particular former passholder who admits she lost her admission privileges, but still has to pay off her pass, might just eliminate the dubious practice altogether.

Terms of the agreement are clear, if not universally known or heeded. Even in the abridged admonishment posted online, Disney warns against commercial chicanery:
Whether this is part of a policy intensification, or larger crackdown, is unknown. As a flood of collectible Star Wars merchandise is set to soon arrive at a galactic outpost near you, it’s hardly surprising that Disney is looking to discourage competition for its own product. Disney’s playing hardball, for sure. If it helps get more limited edition items into the hands of appreciative grand kids, so much the better.

Imagineering STOLport Complex Set for Expansion at WDW, Hints at Magic Kingdom Expansion   The Walt Disney World STOLport (short for Short Take-Off and Landing airport) is located adjacent to World Drive across from the Magic Kingdom parking lot. The STOLport itself dates back to the 1960s, when Walt first assembled land for Walt Disney World. Walt and other company officials would often fly in from California to oversee construction work.

The STOLport hasn’t been used for airplanes in a long time. It has frequently been used as a staging area for major projects such as the Bay Lake Tower construction, and a number of trailers have been installed as office space for Imagineering and other contractors working on these projects.
According to recently-filed permits, it now seems this office space trailer complex is about to undergo a big expansion.

Plans show two big 12-wide trailers and twelve smaller trailers of various sizes, along with sidewalks and parking.

It is likely that this expansion will be used to support the TRON Lightcycle Power Run construction as well as construction of Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Resort. Perhaps even some yet to be announced projects…

Disney lawsuit dismissed over scooter crash allegations
A legal fight in which a woman sued after she says she was run over by a scooter at Walt Disney World has ended, court documents show.
Vicki Denton, who sued Disney in May for an incident that allegedly occurred in 2016, has voluntarily dismissed her lawsuit, according to court documents filed this month in Orange Circuit Court. Each side is responsible for its own legal bills, the filing said.
A scooter driver tried to go in reverse but mistakenly moved forward in a gift shop at Hollywood Studios, according to the suit. The driver hit Denton, pinning her against a checkout counter, and Denton fell over the scooter, her lawyer, Michael Sanchez, had previously said.
Sanchez declined to comment Wednesday. Disney did not immediately have a comment.
The incident had involved a personally owned scooter, a Disney spokeswoman said earlier.
Court records show Disney requested multiple times for Denton to release produce medical records without getting a response.

Between April 2016 and December 2016, Jamaica Hall, 31, of Kissimmee, issued fraudulent credit card refunds to hotel guests, which he transferred to his checking account, investigators said.
Deputies said Hall worked as a front desk concierge host at multiple Walt Disney World hotels.

Better yet build one in Brazil, that would alleviate a lot of the crowding and chanting issues.

Well I guess you will never be a mommy blogger.
This new behemoth is mandatory to have, talk about, and lord over all your poorer acquaintances.
And of course you need 2 or 3 different colors to coordinate with your Prada outfits.

Agree 100%.  But it boggles my mind that as the price increases so do the crowds?  People must really be going into debt just to visit Disney World.  I tell my wife it is the Facebook effect.  Everybody needs to go or they are a bad parent, because "everybody else" is going.
