This does clarify that the original report that said he used a Disney boat to access the island was false.

It clarifies a whole bunch of stuff. Turns out the initial reports only really gave his side of the events, which as we know now were also totally false.

If you look at google satellite view and go to the N end of bay lake it looks like a little dock is on the lake at the end of a dirt road Bay Ct.  It's up near the boat repair area but off to the right.

That's got to be the spot, although how he'd have gotten in there without someone seeing him with a boat...

The comments to the link in the first post mentioned the guy’s YouTube channel, and I found it:

He hasn’t gained many subscribers or views. It seems wrong that the guy is allowed to try and profit from his crime.

    TCD

Agreed. I'd have thought they could make him take it down at least pending resolution of the case, but seems not.

I am surprised he hasn't gained many subscribers or views.  Although when did the article @Travisma drop?  If it was recent it may still gain some traction.

In 1994, after winning silver at the 1994 Winter Olympics (despite the infamous knee-whacking attributed to rival skater Tonya Harding), figure skater Nancy Kerrigan participated in a parade at Walt Disney World, like so many other winning American athletes. However, she was one of the first to openly seem like she didn't really want to be there, and she took a lot of heat for getting caught on mic calling the whole thing "corny." She later said she was referring to wearing her medal in public, not to the parade itself, but the damage was done and her reputation as an ungrateful snob, deserved or not, followed her throughout the rest of her career.

And now she's doing quarantine commercials for an energy company up here.  It's funny because when they started a few months ago I wondered if anyone under the age of 30 would even know who she was.

  3. Well that was fun to watch and um, can somebody run out there real quick and get me one of those trash cans?  😎

    Oh but...

Dear people who do illegal things,

If you're going to claim you don't know you're trespassing on private property when they catch you, you might not want to post YouTube videos that prove that you planned the whole thing ahead of time and knew exactly what you were doing while you're waiting for trial.

    :smileyhit:

Supposedly he had only 2300 YouTube subscribers when this was reported, it's probably a lot more now thanks to the news coverage. I'm assuming he's cashing in on the videos and thinks it's somehow worth it.  Although I don't know if he'll feel the same way if he ends up doing jail time.

40% off of $2100 is still a little too steep for us.

Hey I said it was your chance... I didn't say it was actually affordable.

    :ROFLMAO-1:

Here's the crazy thing, for giggles I ran some dates for the Poly Bungalows - random days in Sept/Oct, no holidays, weekdays only... nothing at all came up.  Apparently somebody's got an extra $1200/night burning a hole in their pockets.

  5. And starting next month the only transportation directly from the Poly villas and bungalows will be buses.

News! The Monorail Station at Disney’s Polynesian Resort Will Be Closing Temporarily Later This Year!

    By  Leave a Comment

We’ve seen lots of news related to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort announced lately.

Earlier today, we shared that the resort would remain closed until 2021. We also learned that the Polynesian’s guest rooms will soon be receiving a Moana-inspired makeover. Now, we’ve got some news about the monorail station at the Polynesian.

Please stand clear of the doors. Taking a trip around Disney World on the Monorail? One entire Monorail station will soon be closing.

We chatted with a Cast Member on the Disney World website earlier today who confirmed that, beginning in October of this year, the Monorail station at the Polynesian will be closed.

We were also able to find some further confirmation of this on the Disney website for the Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

Screenshot from the Disney World Website

The Cast Member we spoke to said that it looked like the Monorail station at the Polynesian may be closed for the rest of the year.

One of the big perks of staying at resorts like the Polynesian, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is having access to the Monorail. The Ticket and Transportation Center is a fairly short walk away from the Polynesian though, so guests would have access to the Monorail that way

While some spots in the Polynesian, like ‘Ohana, remain closed for now, other spots like Tambu Lounge and Kona Cafe are currently open. Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are also open.

Update: The Disney Resort Hotels: Know Before You Go website has been updated to reflect the transportation options available to guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Specifically, the website notes that bus transportation will be available from the Polynesian Villas & Bungalows to Magic Kingdom beginning in early October 2020.

Water taxis, however, are not available from the Resort to Magic Kingdom. Additionally, the website notes that the walkway to the Transportation and Ticket Center will remain open and guests will be able to access the monorail and ferry boats to Magic Kingdom from there.

We’re definitely keeping an eye out for more news about closures and reopenings around Disney World. We’ll keep you informed on the latest!

BREAKING: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Reopening Delayed Until Summer 2021

Walt Disney World has just announced the delayed reopening of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort through Summer 2021.
    disneys-polynesian-village-resort-lobby-

The following statement was just released to travel agents regarding the delay:

As we continue to reopen additional Disney Resort hotels to Guests, we are modifying the reopening date for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort which will reopen next summer. This schedule adjustment also allows us to complete some refurbishment work at the Resort hotel, including enhancements to the Great Ceremonial House and Guest rooms. We expect work to begin in early October and look forward to sharing more about these changes in the future. The Villas and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain open during this refurbishment.

We understand the amount of planning that goes into a Disney vacation and we are reaching out to you about your clients with upcoming reservations that are impacted by these changes, at least four weeks before their arrival. Our Cast Members will be able to assist with modifying their reservations to other Disney Resort hotels.

The resort, slated for an October 4 reopening after being initially postponed from August 12, is currently open with limited operations for guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows as part of the DVC reopening.

I just discovered this but maybe the rest of you already know about it. This guy took the loop music for fort wilderness and he added ambient sounds such as birds, the bus is going by, one of the bus loops announcements, the marina horns, a little bit of arcade and then the hay ride going by. It makes me so happy and it brings the fort right to me. I only wish it was longer. By the way this video is for the audio of it. It's not going to have a video of the fort but a stationary, simple photo as you listen to the music.

Love this - thanks for sharing!

You can also go to Subsonicradio.com, set up an account and then go to "Make Requests".  Click on "Background" and then search for Fort Wilderness.  You can request the Music loop from the Settlement.  It runs a little over an hour.

    Awesome!

  8. Welp this would seen to be one more indicator that Reflections is off the table for at least a while....

...a new update from Scott Gustin on Twitter shows a recent change to an old Disney Parks Blog post from August 2019 outlining all of the announcements made during last year’s D23 Expo.

The announcement for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge has since been removed from the post, with changes likely made during the first week of August. Disney has been known to quietly change announcement posts like these in cases of cancelled, altered, or delayed projects.

Disney has not officially announced or commented on the current state of the Reflections project, with no current signs of construction at the former site of River Country besides staged equipment and materials.

I saw another article (can't find it now) that mentioned that the info for the other projects currently known to be delayed (mostly in Epcot) hasn't been removed from anything yet.

Walt Disney World theme park operating hours reduced beginning September 8
36 minutes ago in "Magic Kingdom"

Walt Disney World theme park operating hours will be reduced beginning September 8 2020.

Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios will lose an hour each, with EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom each losing 2 hours.

The new operating hours line-up looks like this:

    Magic Kingdom will reduce hours from 9am - 7pm to 9am - 6pm.
    EPCOT will reduce hours from 11am  - 9pm to 11am - 7pm.
    Disney's Animal Kingdom will reduce hours from 8am - 6pm to 9am - 5pm.
    Disney's Hollywood Studios will reduce hours from 10am - 8pm to 10am - 7pm.

The updated hours currently run through to the end of October, which is the end of the published hours at this time. You can view the full hours here.

EPCOT has been the most badly impacted with attendance falling far below expectations

The theme parks are continuing to see struggling attendance as COVID-19 cases continue to remain at high levels in Florida. In a recent earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that there was ample demand prior to the surge in Florida cases, which subsequently dropped off as guests became wary of traveling to Florida. 50% of guests are still traveling from a distance, with the remainder coming from within Florida. Attendance from long distance visitors has been replaced by local and annual passholders where possible, but it was noted that locals do not carry the same spending value as those who travel further and stay for longer. A higher level of cancellations has also been seen since the rise in cases which was not apparent when the parks were announced to be reopening.

Transferring CM's and early maintenance/dry dock

I'd love to know what daily life is like for the crew on these ships right now with no guests. I'm sure there's stuff to do, and I doubt they're eating lobster in the fancy dining room every night, but it's gotta feel a little like "Mom & Dad are gone and we've got this big ol' place to ourselves!"

Or at least I hope it does for them, otherwise it's just a major bummer to be stuck on a ship trying to get home somehow/eventually.  Although I suppose still better in that at least the ship is "safe" in terms of COVID. I think if I had a choice I'd pick a Disney ship for quarantine over my house.
