  1. Remember how I said it was the last time? And I promised? I lied. Went for the Grand Tea this time, which comes with a glass of sparkling wine and some duck pâté (that I didn't eat and gave to my husband). Love those onion tarts. Our server must have overheard me say this was insufficient clotted cream, because she brought me another tray after this one was done. This was new since the last time I was here. It's a bananas foster trifle.
  2. I look every day, but it's still sold out. Search for 7501055880089P.
  3. Yesterday my Mom and I took a stab at making school bread. We used this recipe from the Disney Food Blog. If you read the recipe you'll notice that it uses an interesting collection of units of measurement... Water is in pints, flour is in pounds, and so on. This becomes important for later on... We started off by getting out the stand mixer and kitchen scale and weighing our dry ingredients. 3.5 ounces of sugar and 2 lbs of flour got put into the bowl for the stand mixer along with 1 teaspoon of cardamom. In a glass 2 cup measuring cup, we also had 2 cups of water at 95° and
  4. It's different from province to province, but in Ontario it basically breaks down like this. There is a government-owned company called the LCBO that is pretty much the only place you can buy wine, liquor, spirits and beer. There is a separate company called The Beer Store (I kid you not), that only sells beer. It is owned by 3 private companies - InBev, Molson and Sapporo. It is not government owned, though most Ontarians don't know this. There are minor exceptions1, but in general, if you want to buy booze in Ontario, you either get it from the LCBO or the Beer Store. 1You can buy cr
  5. Thank you for the picture of the beer menu! I'm a fan of wheat beers, and apart from Blue Moon (known as Rickard's White in Canuckistan), I've found wheat beers hard to come by at the World so I was intrigued to see Shöfferhofer Weizen on the Biergarten menu. And I was even more curious when it said it was "one of Germany's most well-known wheat beers". I don't consider myself a connoisseur by any means, but I've had my fair share of wheat beers, and even had a few of them in Germany... but I've never heard of Shöfferhofer Weizen. So I went to the website of my provincial government's monopo
  6. I just made them again yesterday. This time for measuring the batter I did use a little coffee/protein powder scoop that was labeled as 47 cc (a little less than 1/4 cup) and the resulting cookie was about 3.5" diameter and that gave me 10 completed cookies. I cooked them for 15 minutes.
  7. I followed this recipe. I found it by googling "disney carrot cake cookie recipe", so I can't guarantee it's identical to what you'll find at the happiest place on earth, but it seemed pretty close to me. The next time I make them (whenever that is), I'd like to try to get better portion control of the batter. As you can sort of tell from the picture, I had some that were much bigger than others. Also, since I'm not exactly proficient in the kitchen I don't own a pastry/icing bag, so I just slapped the icing on and smoothed it with a knife. It wasn't pretty but it sure was tasty!
  8. The guy who posted them said, "my dad actually owned a videography company back in the day, so he spent entire vacations behind the camera."
  9. User "jeffaaronmiller" posted these videos on Reddit that were taken by his family on a trip in June of 1989. Part One - Magic Kingdom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSi2XeZ5bhs Part Two - Mostly Epcot, lots of the original Living Seas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SwMrnGoR1k Part Three - More Epcot, a lot of footage of the original The Land http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XogkdOK0zwM Part Four - Epcot, includes Image Works, World of Motion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT3HZyu0aAA Part Five - Epcot, includes Japan, Tempura Kiku, Horizons, Universe of Energy http://www.youtube.com/
  10. Some of you may recall that my family did a Hoop Dee Doo dinner night at home last year. (My previous post is quoted below.) We liked it so much that we decided to make it an annual tradition, and because we like to plan ahead, we've set a date this year for Saturday, February 22. Why not plan your own for that same date? I'd love to see the pictures from other families having the same kind of fun. (And giving me ideas to steal for next year.) Anyone else up for it? You've got 29 days to make it happen. You can do it!
  11. After a flurry of trips to the World last year, I sadly don't have another one planned just yet. There's a slim chance for the Memorial Day long weekend this year, but I won't know until March at the earliest.
  12. Here's how my carrot cake cookies turned out (I made them last fall). Not bad for my first time!
  13. Walked in for lunch without a reservation and had no trouble getting a table. We decided that instead of mains, we would just get a few starters and share them. (Though we each got our own dessert.) August 2013.
  14. I peaked too soon and grabbed something close to the beginning of the line. I should have scoped out what was on offer further down. But it was busy and they only had one register open. August 2013.
  15. This was my first time at the Liberty Tree Tavern. It wasn't my favourite, but maybe that's partly because I was looking forward to the ooey gooey toffee cake and they weren't serving it that day? It also wasn't very handicap-friendly for my Mom. August 2013.
  16. Sweet cream cheeze pretzel at the Lunching Pad is a tasty bit of business. August 2013.
  17. This is the "warm colossal cinnamon roll". It's really one cinnamon roll in the middle with four others around it. It should probably be shared by more than two people, but since there were only two of us on this trip... What could we do? (And yes, we finished it ALL.) August 2013.
  18. August 2013. You can be sure we made a Mickey out of those!
  19. Back for tea again. This is the last one, I promise. August 2013. Look at the paltry amount of clotted cream. And what's with the lemon curds?
  20. Made a special trip to the Contempo Café for their chocolate coconut cupcake. August 2013. I was hoping the inside coconut bomb would be more like a Mounds candy bar, but it wasn't that sweet.
  21. If you have time, do the free restaurant tour of Jiko and Boma. It starts at 4:00 at the Boma check-in desk. You get a lot of information about the décor of the restaurant as well as samples of the food.
  22. I'd read about the corn nuggets at the Golden Oak Outpost, so went about getting some on our trip in August of 2013. They had to make some fresh so we had a short wait, which was fine. They were dusted in icing sugar which we managed to get all over our dark coloured shirts. :rofl3:
  23. We bought this in the morning and then didn't eat it until much later in the afternoon. I was afraid it wasn't going to hold up very well, but it did just fine. May 2013. These are also much easier to make than you might imagine. I followed this recipe and had pretty good results.
  24. Something a little different every time. May 2013. Inferior strawberries and whipped cream compared to the last time.
