This is like a nightmare for me! I don't do reptiles (except turtles and alligators) it would be my luck one would fall on me.

Although it would make for a quick and easy way to clear some of them out from down there.

I have a huge fear of ships.  Irrational... I know, but still, it's a fear.  So, I think the chance of us getting on a cruise ship is pretty slim, but the big vat of real blue cheese?  Well, that might just do it  ;)

How long was the bus ride?

My best friend was like that with any kind of boat. So much so that we had to give her Xanax to get her on the ship we took to the Bahamas one time. Finally convinced her to go on a cruise for my grandparents 60th anniversary, she really didn't want to go but wanted to be there for my grandparents. Well that's all it took now she goes on at least one cruise a year, she's hooked!

I tried that as a joke with an MP at the gate into Tobyhanna Army Depot once.  I had a service truck and was there to repair a Wheel loader at the motor pool.

He asked if I had any weapons.

I told him possibly. Torches, prybars, utility knives, hack saw, sawzall and went down the list of what was on my truck that could be used as a weapon.

He was not very impressed with my attempt at humor.

Whenever  he was on duty from then on I had to pull through the "more intensive " inspection line and open all the doors and hood on the truck.

My grandmother did a similar thing going onto a navy base in Norfolk VA, when they asked if we had any weapons she asked what they considered weapons jokingly. Which turned into a very thorough search of our car and all our bags. The bad part was she forgot she hadn't taken her gun out of her purse so we had to go back to where we were staying drop it off then go through the whole search again. She had a bad habit of forgetting to take it out of her purse when we would go places she couldn't carry it.

That's perfect, our high today is 55, and it's raining right now. That's how I'll look in a few minutes when I have to go outside. That's how I've looked for the last couple of days. Us native Floridians aren't accustomed to cold. Below 75 is chilly and below 70 just plain cold.

    Edited to add

I have actually had to wear shoes and socks, which just doesn't happen unless it's cold or on rare occasions I have to dress up.

  5. Hasn't there always been a no firearms/weapons policy at the Fort and for that matter all Disney properties? Or at least for awhile now, they've just never asked about it before.

The thing with asking people when they get to the Fort if the have a firearm is the people who are honest and have one for their protection will answer yes however if someone was actually going to use it or had bad intentions will simply answer no and drive on through. A full rv search and especially for a weapon would be impossible for Disney to do/keep up with. Them asking and it becoming know that they are asking will make people think twice, but again this is probably only going to affect honest people who have no intention of using their firearms for anything other then defense.

I have that same Dynamite crate full of firestarter sticks shaped and colored to look like TNT.  :Campfire_2:

Haha yeah my grandfather bought that for us and proceeded to carry it through 2 buildings at the retirement home he lives at and to my mom's office to give it to her.  Just imagine the looks he got then the executive director came in and had to ask if it was real.

Haven't actually used them to start a fire yet but they make a good conversation piece.

I spoke to a guy at the dog run a few years ago who just had his RV in the fort for his dg to stay in while the rest of his family was at the Lodge. He or his wife would just bus over a couple times a day to take him to the dog park and make sure there was fresh food and water for him.

Wow that's just horrible! I mean I guess the dog was probably happier then being boarded somewhere but geez. I'd rather stay at the Fort with the dog.

Meet them they went home for the holidays and a few other personal things they needed to attend to. just easier for them to leave it her then move it and risk losing the site. I can understand the whats and whys (hope I can afford to do the same when I retire) very nice people (they may be reading this) but they are still nice people

I can understand that, may have even been cheaper or broke even if they got good deals on their flights and depending on where they went. Compared to the cost of fuel, time and mileage to drive or take the RV.

  8. I've seen scooters on loop roads

Kids riding scooters with and with out helmets

    Same with bikes.

I don't know what the policy is or if there even is one for helmets on scooters at the Fort. But unless you get a ranger who is board or your kids are really cause a problem like blocking traffic or riding out in front of vehicles I don't think you'll have a problem with them riding in the loop. I'm not saying your kids would do this but it things I've seen before.

The thing that would concern me the most is people driving golf carts or vehicles around the loops who may not be paying attention or going to fast. Especially if it's a busy time and cars are blocking visibility around curves in the loop.

  9. The squirrels also steal bananas (probably any food you might have around) right out of your bag sitting on your RV steps.

I'm not sure about the peacocks at the Fort but we used or still might have some at the flea market here, they were pretty but would chase you down and we're very aggressive. There's a neighborhood out on longboat key that started with 2 in the 50s and in 2016 had 50+ out wild and breeding. They started to trap them a few years ago and try to relocate them because they were becoming such a nuisance.

  10. I have a bad habit of getting on here and reading but not always commenting. Also I seem to go through spells of commenting.  Fort Fiends is my go to if I'm taking a break, waiting for something, in general trying to kill some time. There's been a lot of that happening lately with illness in my family but for as much as I check/read on here I haven't been much in the mood to post and unfortunately haven't been or done anything worth posting about. Hoping with the new year we'll be able to make it to the parks more and maybe get in a few camp trips around here.

Like Yvonne I like reading about other places and things Fiends do besides Disney.

We got one of these awhile back on a really good sale and with points from Sears. The plan was/is to hook it up in the garage because we go through more ice then the ice maker in the fridge can keep up with. It's big and heavy to travel with all the time but if we were going to be somewhere for a week or more I'd probably take it. I have it set up to work with a regular rv water hose/garden hose and filter. It freezes the ice and keeps it frozen like a regular ice maker in your freezer.

Looked at the ones like Becker's got but for wanting something for daily use at the house this worked better for us.
