Thanks Tim. I called a local Infiniti dealer and he pulled the maintenance for me (gave him the VIN #). It appears that this car has been taken care of (battery, breaks, hoses and tires all replaced in the last 18k miles.... plus other general maintenance over the years). We're going to move forward and purchase the car. I will pay the Infiniti store to inspect it ($125 charge) either before we buy or I'll have the dealership write in that we have 48 hours to return the car so we have time to have the inspection done. Our thought is... we could spend more for less miles, but that wouldn'

We do have time... a good 60 days before our next trip and we have to have the truck. The one we found is an infiniti.... I called a mechanic we've used before and asked which was more to repair (Nissan Armada or Infinity QX56)... he said the infiniti. The car we found does look to be in really good shape, that's the tough part. We've seen A LOT of junk... if this one had mileage in the 40's and was $4k more, we'd buy it. It's the mileage that makes us nervous.... that and the repair costs.

I am emotionally drained over trying to find a tow vehicle. I could give the details of my life... but let's just say, I (like so many) am very, very busy. So this "journey" has been exhausting and draining. I've narrowed my preference down to either a Nissan Armada or Infiniti QX56 (really the same vehicle). Here is my dilemma: Money is tight, so we are looking at used. Found a 2006 Inifinit in great shape for $20k, but it has 86k miles. Vehicle is a 2WD (4WD has been very, very tough to find in our area...Infiniti or the Nissan). I'm concerned about the miles. To get less miles,

The trailer we purchased has breaks... which means I think we need to have a brake controller installed, once we do actually find a tow vehicle (had NO idea how tough finding a tow vehicle would be...yuck!!). My question is... the trailer: right now it is stored at a storage facility (it will be stored in our driveway, once we find a vehicle to tow it). So, when we do find the vehicle, do we take it to an RV place to have the brake controller installed BEFORE we try and tow our camper home? For some reason, I thought the man we purchased it from, said something to the effect of taking th

A few fiends have recommended Good Sam over AAA....question that I have, is it worth the $80/yr to have this policy? Now, as a reminder, we just bought a hybrid trailer and we know NOTHING, so I don't know of all the horrible things that could break (making the Good Sam policy a good idea). In my simple mind, I see the tires on the trailer and know we could change one if it got a flat. What am I missing, that makes buying the policy such a good idea? Trying to watch our budget, so I need to justify costs before spending. Tell me your horror stories fiends!

Post Your Pictures From the Fort Here!

This picture cracked me up.... obviously a visitor from up north (where it's freezing). Notice he is in a bathing suit, but the locals are wrapped up in layers -
I agree!! This one has a slide so the amount of living space and storage is AWESOME :) Used. We did a thorough inspection and the only leak we found, was in the front "pop up" bed. We're going to remove it and have a new one made. I read where changing the knobs/dial (that secure the front panel over the pop-up) can help create a tighter seal, thus helping with any water intrusion...we'll look into that further, once we install the new bed.

That was my thought... on this and the Audi that we looked at. Both are probably very expensive to repair. The only reason we even considered them, is because they claim to have the towing power and they can both fit in our garage (other tow vehicles we've looked at, are all too tall). Having said that, I'd honestly feel safer pulling our hybrid in a bigger/taller vehicle. I could be wrong in that thinking, but I do feel more secure. Think we'll go that (the bigger) way...
