  1. I look at it this way, if I am doing these park, I want to stay on property, it is just easier, and the level of service you get is extraordinary. The Fort is pricy for a campground, but then when I compare it to the other resorts, along with having meals at the campground easily, and everything offered right there at the campground, it becomes the most affordable way to do Disney. I even said to Becky just tonight, we will probably always stay at the the Fort when we go there, it saves enough money that we can then do the nice dinners out or spend a little more money elsewhere, and not jus
  2. Forget the Mickey waffle, we know who the star really is here: They even gave Becky a cupcake for her birthday at breakfast: We had dinner here too, but I took no photos of the food. Enjoyed both.
  3. I agree with Carol, plus this allows the flexibility to not have to have the whole thing paid up front and you can cancel your reservations very late if you have to.
  4. I said I would give a full report, but to summarize, I would say I don't know that the tour was worth the cost. I like trains, have been to plenty of railroads, and been in plenty of roundhouses, and this was not too much different then those. If you have never been to a working railroad but are interested, this might be for you. They go deep into detail of the operation of the trains and their railroad. You get there early and go into the park pretty much before anyone else. That in and of itself is interesting, I've always loved being in parks really early and watching them "wake up."
  5. Don't even care what they send me, I am sticking with my Stitch band from now on!
  6. Yup, what Grumpy said. If you don't get the driver's name, you should be able to get a bus number, they can match that with the driver. Sounds like a few trips on SEPTA buses I have taken in the past.
  7. Sometimes that's what we're here for :D When everyone puts their heads together you almost get a complete picture of things
  8. Like many others here, we ate nearly every breakfast at the camper (some morning we were up really early so took a ride out to Waffle House or Denny's instead), lunch was often snacks we took with us to the parks, and dinner was either out at a nice place or back at the camper. We used the crock pot a few times and had a nice dinner waiting for us when we got back. I can understand the appeal of the all inclusiveness of the dinning plan, and it even makes a good deal of sense when staying in a hotel, but for camping, I just think it would be a waste of money unless you really want to eat a
  9. If you are spending a couple of days in the Hershey area, take a day trip to Knoebels, you won't regret it.
  10. While we were camped at the Fort in January a group (of teens, unfortunately) were camped for the weekend in Fort Wilderness rental tents. I figured I would take some photos after the group left, but before they were taken down by the maintenance staff. I don't know anything else about them, but figured it would be good to have some nice, clear photos of what they look like.
  11. Friends of ours had gotten a CampLite a couple of years ago. Initially they had a lot of problems with it, but they were quickly ironed out and once that was done they loved their little trailer. They only traded it in when they decided to go full time and getting a class A was a better option for them. We had dinner with them while in Florida and they said while they need the space, they miss the ease and convenience of the small trailer.
  12. You can find an animated POV of the coaster here: http://youtu.be/1gK5MWQ__Ns The coaster is going to meander it's way down the tower, with some interesting elements, like outward banked turns near the top. There has been a lot of talk about this thing for a while, and this may be the first of several, if it gets off the ground.
  13. That is the XL. I like it, takes only about five minutes to set up, and just as easy to take down. It is good for us as we are usually only in one spot for a couple of days. It will protect the front from rain, bit it does not like wind. If you get both, forget it.
  14. Get ready for construction "as far as the eye can see..." Not only the crane and the hat, but the central plaza is boarded up all around, including the Walt and Mickey statue, construction on Main Street, the dinning room in the castle, the central section of AK, and the least noticeable, Maelstrom boarded up.
  15. Saw Dick on Saturday, great guy, though he is starting to turn things over to his boys. He let his boys talk about the new roller coaster while he sat back and worked on a crossword puzzle. Have done the Covered Bridge Festival many times, it just gets bigger each year. They have an enthusiast event (Phoenix Phall Phunfest) on the Saturday night of the festival that is one of the favorites.
  16. To push this back onto topic, here is a look at our little camper at Knoebels this past September: We squeezed right onto the end of the Pan Handle, for those that know the campground. I love the place, we go at least once a year, and of all the amusement parks I have visited this is in my top three (Dollywood and Busch Gardens Williamsburg are the other two). I will have to check out JD, driven past it plenty of times. Knoebels, I feel, is getting expensive for what you get, though it is convenient and feels like home to me. Looking at maybe visiting in July :)
