All in the Details: Storybook Circus Nears Completion in New Fantasyland

posted on October 2nd, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

We’ve previously shared updates on the Storybook Circus area of the New Fantasyland expansion – and now that the location is about to be completed, we’ve got a few exclusive peeks inside the last few areas that are set to open.

Just to recap, the Storybook Circus area is themed after a grand circus of the 1940s, and several of its “main attractions” – Dumbo the Flying Elephant (complete with a fun indoor queue), Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station, and Barnstormer – Starring the Great Goofini – opened earlier this year.

Remaining areas that will make their circus debut soon are Big Top Treats and Pete’s Silly Sideshow character greeting, as well as a new FASTPASS distribution area (for Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Barnstormer – Starring the Great Goofini). Big Top Souvenirs is also sure to be a big draw to this area.

Check out the photos below to see the amazing level of detail that our Walt Disney Imagineers put into these exciting new places:

The interior of Big Top Souvenirs looks just as if its proprietors set up shop in a recently used circus tent – complete with strings of lights, trapezes, tightropes and more! Even the floor appears to be a circus ring, and nearby check-out stations resemble old circus train cars. (For an inside look at the merchandise available here, be sure to check out Steven’s recent post.)

As the sign pronounces, “circus snacks galore!” can be found at Big Top Treats, which continues the circus theme and will offer caramel apples, cotton candy and other circus snacks. Additional food carts outside will offer hot dogs and soft pretzels.

And here’s a first look inside Pete’s Silly Side Show character greeting, where guests will soon be able to meet Minnie Magnifique, Madame Daisy Fortuna, The Great Goofini, and The Astounding Donaldo. Looks like one of the Great Goofini’s daring stunts has gone awry in this photo. Be sure to visit the Disney Parks Blog later this week for an exclusive look inside this new location.

Two pics from Fantasyland this morning. The first is on the bridge leading to the new restaurant (not yet open but you can peak inside) and the second is from the Arielle clamshell ride.

The next batch of attractions is scheduled to open by the end of the year. They are the princess laden "Enchanted Forest", which will include the "Under the Sea, Voyage of the Little Mermaid" ride

And that's the way it should stay!!!

Probably not. The plans are not final, but with Halloween falling in the middle of the week, it is not likely this year. The girls can't miss too many days of school right now. We are probably going to squeeze in another weekend this month. I hope.

I hope it's the weekend before Halloween!

I hope to get in on Nov. 3 also.We arrive at Disney on the 15th....it was a little disappointing that we didn't get to register today. I was all ready. Planned an early lunch and shut my office door and pretended to be working on book orders. I didn't get the email(I'm having issues getting Disney emails) just kept going to the Passholder site, then saw the sign up had been postponed until next week. Bummer!

Gaston at New Fantasyland: ‘There’s No Man in Town Half As Manly’

posted on October 11th, 2012 by Shawn Slater, Communications Manager, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Creative Entertainment

Previews for New Fantasyland are just around the corner. As the date gets closer, we’re happy to be able to share more and more with you about this largest expansion in Magic Kingdom Park history.

Within the Enchanted Forest area of New Fantasyland, the world of “Beauty and the Beast” comes to life. Enchanted Tales with Belle transports you to the Beast’s Castle for a wonderful storytelling experience with Belle and Lumiere, and over in Belle’s Village, you’ll soon be able to meet another memorable character from her story – one with biceps to spare!

gnf089224SMALL.jpg

That’s right. That man among men, Gaston, will be tromping around the village square. As a specimen, yes, he’s intimidating, but he’s also everyone’s favorite guy, happy to pose for portraits, comment on the fine statue he has donated to the town or just generally talk about, well, himself.

You can ask any Tom, Dick or Stanley, and they’ll tell you Gaston will be in New Fantasyland when it opens for previews November 19.

Interesting.... And they are gonna have Passholders scrambling online for an exclusive preview.....

Fool me once....

They did fool me once.

A long time ago, and they got me good.

There was a special passholder preview when the Primeval Whirl ride opened in AK.

The thing was that the ride had been open to guests for weeks before the preview.

But, they made a big deal of it, and invited passholders to come out for the preview.

It was packed.

I think we waited in line for an hour to ride the ride once. We had already been on it many times with very short or no waits.

We were stupid to show up for that.

Sounds like the same deal here maybe.

ETA- I just looked at all the photos in Monique's link, They show guests entering the Little Mermaid ride! So. it looks like the "exclusive" access being given on the previews is already available to anyone who shows up now.
