I haven't been following the walkway project too closely but just came across this article that suggests that there's a lot more going on there. Still quite a bit of speculation, but the photos seem to suggest a lot more than a walkway and some bathrooms going on here.

Fantasyland Tangled Walkway and Bathroom Construction Shows Lots of Progress

Though the Fantasyland Tangled themed Walkway and Bathrooms project has yet to be officially announced more and more signs are pointing towards that inevitability. Images recently leaked to the internet showing off some of the plans to create restrooms with the Tangled theme. Specifically it seems the area just outside the restrooms would include the floor-tile-sun that you might recall from the animated film. Our own photos show a building that is progressing rapidly and looks to be one of the restroom locations. Also of note is the addition of steel framework for the creation of rock work. There have been rumblings of a waterfall and small walkway bridge included on the site and perhaps that is what the rock work will be for. There is a ton more to show you just after the break in what is the most exciting update to this project since it all began.

  • Whatever is finally built should provide a nice visual end-cap to this area.

DSC07397-600x398.jpg The project has expanded considerably in about a months time.

DSC07399-600x391.jpg A keen eye might notice that fresh sod has been placed atop the retaining wall. DSC07403-600x398.jpg

DSC07404-600x426.jpg Could this be the location for a small water feature and a bridge to cross over into Liberty Square?

DSC07406-600x459.jpg Not sure what this base is for, could it be for Rapunzel’s tower instead of where we hypothesized before? If anyone knows more, be sure to let us know. DSC07408-600x387.jpg The building on the right will probably house restrooms as well. DSC07495-600x398.jpg As you can see the construction is visible from various angles within the Magic Kingdom making it aesthetically important.

DSC07496-600x323.jpg This gives a good sense of scale for the project and you can see how high the rock work steel framing rises.

DSC07498-600x398.jpg This is a high traffic area that no doubt will be well served by an extra pathway.

Two pics from Fantasyland this morning. The first is on the bridge leading to the new restaurant (not yet open but you can peak inside) and the second is from the Arielle clamshell ride.

The next batch of attractions is scheduled to open by the end of the year. They are the princess laden "Enchanted Forest", which will include the "Under the Sea, Voyage of the Little Mermaid" ride

And that's the way it should stay!!!

I'm glad they reduced the "princess centric stuff"

Me too.

And I'm also glad that Pixie Hollow got replaced with the Storybook Circus area- much better.

Agreed. I believe (or at least hope) that the whole Pixie things is temporary on Disney's radar and dies off. I like Tink as the fairie that starts parades, fireworks, and when I was a kid The Wonderful World of Disney. But as a star in her own right...I just don't think she or the other fairies they've come up with are that likeable.

PHOTOS - A look at the new Fantasyland restroom area construction

Aug 20, 2012 | 11:29am EDT

Today we have an updated look at the new Fantasyland restrooms. This is the area that was the former home to the Fantasyland skyway station, and once complete, will give guests a new access path to Liberty Square, and new restrooms to replace those located near the Peter Pan queue.

Live comedy shows to be part of new Fantasyland experience?

Aug 28, 2012 | 10:35am EDT

Last week Disney wrote a short teaser on their official Twitter account mentioning that "two new entertainment offerings for #NewFantasyland are now under development. More to come soon on the @disneyparks Blog".

Disney has since posted a recruitment notice for 'Male and Female Comedic Actors' for two new entertainment offerings in the Magic Kingdom that are "highly interactive, comedic and unique atmospheric experiences will bring fun and fantasy to each Guest."

It would certainly seem plausible that these shows are likely to be located in the Beauty and the Beast village area, and similar in concept to the World Showcase Players in Epcot.

The full audition text is below.

Disney Auditions is seeking Male and Female Comedic Actors for two new entertainment offerings appearing in the Magic Kingdom® Park at the Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando, FL. These highly interactive, comedic and unique atmospheric experiences will bring fun and fantasy to each Guest. Each experience demands high energy and a passion for seeking out guest interaction. Physical comedy, improv skills are required. For the audition, come prepared with one - 1 minute comedic monologue.

Concept art of Ariel's Grotto meet and greet in the new Fantasyland

Aug 28, 2012 | 10:02am EDT

The official Disney Parks Blog has today shared some new concept art for Ariel's Grotto (see below), the Little Mermaid meet and greet coming to the new Fantasyland.

Located in the base of the Little Mermaid attraction cliffs, the meet and greet will let guests meet Ariel in mermaid form, seated on a seashell throne. The grotto is a separate attraction from the 'Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid' ride.

Ariel's Grotto will open for previews with the rest of that area on November 19 2012.

Very interesting. They say these are new roles. It does make it sound like it would be something in the FLE.

The official Disney Blog is kicking the hype machine into overdrive.

New video today showing more on the Belle meet and greet: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/first-look-lumiere-madame-wardrobe-welcome-you-to-enchanted-tales-with-belle-at-magic-kingdom-park/

Looks cute, but I think there's going to be huge waits for this. They show kids sitting on the floor for part of this- I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Disney has announced that they are conducting play-testing of Enchanted Tales with Belle, part of the new Fantasyland expansion that is officially opening on December 6th, with previews beginning November 19.

The testing is going on now through mid-September. Guests may be invited into the attraction periodically, and delays and closures without notice are possible. There is no guarantee that the attraction will remain open throughout the day. Once play-testing is complete, the attraction will be further refined in preparation for the official opening.

Enchanted Tales with Belle is a storytelling experience that brings gusts into the world of Beauty and the Beast. Beginning in Maurice's workshop, guests step through an enchanted mirror to find they've been transported to Beast's library where Belle and Lumiere invite guests to participate in a re-telling of the Beauty and the Beast story.

The experience can take up to 45 minutes and photography will be allowed (no external lighting or flash permitted).

For those of you wondering if Gaston's Tavern was going to serve alcohol, the Disney Blog told us yesterday that the signature drink is going to be something that sounds like an apple juice slurpee. Yum!

Oh, and they are going to serve cinnamon rolls all day long.

What the Fort are they thinking?
