Two pics from Fantasyland this morning. The first is on the bridge leading to the new restaurant (not yet open but you can peak inside) and the second is from the Arielle clamshell ride.

The next batch of attractions is scheduled to open by the end of the year. They are the princess laden "Enchanted Forest", which will include the "Under the Sea, Voyage of the Little Mermaid" ride

And that's the way it should stay!!!

All in the Details: Hidden History at Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on September 4th, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

We previously took a look at the opening of Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station at Magic Kingdom Park when it opened back in June, but there are actually some hidden details here that are worthy of another Disney Parks Blog post.

cjs111333SMALL.jpg

If you know anything about Disney Parks, you probably know that Walt Disney Imagineering often includes nods to Disney history in their projects. (The names on the windows on Main Street, U.S.A., are a great example).

Well, check out Casey Jr.’s colorful train cars, which sport a specific set of numbers on the back: 71, 82, 89 and 98. Know what they reference? Leave it in the comments section below and check back later today to see if you’re correct.

When you’re walking through this area, be sure to check out the little details on the ground beneath your feet. Horse hoofs and other signs of circus life have made their way into the concrete’s designs. (Be sure to look for the elephant tracks and false peanut shells in the concrete that leads into Dumbo the Flying Elephant!).

Can’t get enough of New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park? Take a look at more from the “All in the Details” series:

All in the Details: The Theming of Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on September 18th, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Last week we gave you a look inside the Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid attraction, which opens December 6 in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. Many of you have asked exactly how this attraction is different from The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure attraction at Disney California Adventure park. Well, feast your eyes on the photos below to get the answer – it’s the attraction’s amazingly detailed exterior.

Provided by Walt Disney Imagineering, these photos show exactly how guests will become immersed in the tale of “The Little Mermaid” the instant they arrive at the attraction. Its marquee was just installed and features Ariel on the bow of a shipwrecked boat. From here, guests walk through a detailed queue that takes them over a shoreline that has scattered pieces of the ship and into the rocky cliffs below Prince Eric’s castle, with the sound of rushing water all around.

Exploring New Fantasyland: The Worlds of Ariel, Belle, Beast & More Come to Life December 6

posted on September 17th, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

A few readers have recently commented that they’re new to the Disney Parks Blog and need a bit more information on what the New Fantasyland expansion is all about. If you fit in this category, this post is for you!

Let’s rewind:

nfw917719LARGE.jpg

First of all, Walt Disney Imagineers are bringing the stories of “Beauty and The Beast,” “Dumbo,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and “The Little Mermaid” to life at Magic Kingdom Park in the form of new attractions, interactive queues, character greetings and one-of-a-kind dining experiences in an expansion called New Fantasyland. This is actually an expansion of the existing Fantasyland, where so many of the attractions you’ve loved in the past, such as Peter Pan’s Flight and “it’s a small world,” are still in place.

When New Fantasyland opens December 6, “Beauty and The Beast” fans will able to explore Beast’s Castle (yep, they built it), which is the setting for Be Our Guest Restaurant. This place was inspired by Belle’s fun dining experience in the film, and will offer quick-service lunches and table service dinners (check out the lunch and dinner menus now), and the Disney Dining Plan will be accepted. This restaurant is expected to be extremely popular, so book dinner reservations now!

“Beauty and The Beast” fans can also spend time with Lumiere, Madame Wardrobe and Belle at Enchanted Tales With Belle, a character greeting that truly has to be seen to be believed. Get a sneak peek here! Guests can also visit Belle’s “provincial town” to grab a LeFou’s Brew punch drink at Gaston’s Tavern or shop at Bonjour! Village Gifts.

And now onto “The Little Mermaid.” Prince Eric’s Castle will house the Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid attraction, where guests can travel through an impressive queue that features rushing water, rocky cliffs, and a few surprises. Once inside, they can travel “Under the Sea” to join Ariel on her journey to meet Prince Eric and battle Ursula the evil sea witch.

All of New Fantasyland will be in preview phase beginning November 19, which means some of these attractions will be open for very limited operating hours. For guests who can’t wait until then to start their journey in New Fantasyland, the Storybook Circus area of the expansion is already open, which includes the “doubled” Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Casey Jr. Splash N Soak Station, and The Barnstormer – Starring the Great Goofini. Guests in this area will also soon be able to enjoy Pete’s Silly Sideshow character greetings and visit Big Top Souvenirs.

For more news and updates on New Fantasyland, including the addition of Princess Fairytale Hall in 2013 and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in 2014, keep watching the Disney Parks Blog.

Some of you have asked how the storyline of New Fantasyland will connect with the part of Fantasyland that has existed since Magic Kingdom Park opened in 1971.

A new website, www.FindingFantasyland.com, just debuted to help tell this magical story. Here’s a sneak peek:

A Closer Look at New Fantasyland’s Princess Fairytale Hall Concept Art

Sep 18, 2012

by wdwntadmin

Disney shared the concept art for Princess Fairytale Hall in New Fantasyland earlier today, one piece you probably have seen and one you probably haven’t:

PFHexteriorprint-L.jpg

The first is the previously seen concept art of the facade

princess-L.jpg

This new piece show what the interior may look like when the experience opens in Fall 2013. If it stays true to this artwork, we can expect to see each Princess below a portrait of themselves and in front of a stained-glass window that represents something from their respective films. If you look closely, you’ll also see statues representing characters from Cinderella, Princess and the Frog, and Sleeping Beauty.

PHOTOS - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster track extends further

Sep 18, 2012 | 2:36pm EDT

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster in the new Fantasyland continues to get more track installed.

The lift hill now looks to be completed, with the track now extending outward from the lift area, and into what looks like a small dip for a first drop. Supports can be seen for the next piece, but as of yet the track for that section has not been installed.

New Fantasyland to feature 'D-Zones'

Sep 28, 2012 | 12:09pm EDT

Everything we have seen so far in Storybook Circus tells us that Walt Disney Imagineering have clearly paid a lot of attention to guest behavior in the old Fantasyland, and how things can be made better for the new Fantasyland. So far we have seen the indoor air-conditioned Dumbo queue, FASTPASS for most attractions, shade trees, wider walkways, and lots of wall-seating throughout Storybook Circus.

It seems though that Disney is not quite done yet, and have another trick up their sleeve. The third Big Top in Storybook Circus (the yellow one), along with the new restroom area being built in the former skyway station area, is expected to feature something known as a 'D-Zone'. These areas are designed to allow people to relax, take a seat, and to have access to things like phone and ECV charging stations.

These new additions, along with everything that Disney builds in as 'standard', are going to even greater lengths to take guest comfort and convenience to a higher level.

The construction walls are now down at Pete's Silly Sideshow and Big Top Souvenirs in new Fantasyland's Storybook Circus.

Trees installed around the near-complete Beast's Castle

Sep 29, 2012 | 9:58am EDT

Beast's Castle in the new Fantasyland was one of the first of the themed items installed in the expansion and it looks like it has just received the last of its finishing touches. Scaffolding has been up for the last week or so, and it is now down to reveal a row of snow covered trees around the base of the castle. Check out he gallery below for a look.

New aerial views of the near-complete new Fantasyland

Sep 29, 2012 | 7:32am EDT

A big thank you as always to Scott Keating for shooting the photos.

A first look inside the Storybook Circus park area, FASTPASS distribution and food

Sep 30, 2012 | 10:36am EDT

Along with this morning's grand opening of Big Top Souvenirs, the Magic Kingdom also opened up another section of Storybook Circus - the third big top tent, containing FASTPASS distribution for Dumbo and Barnstormer, along with a seating area and snack carts.

The center of this new area is setup like a small park, with a central tree, surrounded by tables and chairs, with elaborately themed snack carts at the edges. Food offerings consist of hot dogs, pretzels, and the usual range of beverages. It is clear that Disney has aimed at guest comfort with this area, as it includes shade, lots of seating, and easy access to snacks from the carts, and from inside Big Top Souvenirs. The area will be particularly useful to grab a seat to eat some of those Big Top Souvenirs treats that are not so easy to eat on the move. The area can also be used by parents waiting for kids playing in the nearby splash zone. The restrooms are located adjacent to this area.

As with all of Storybook Circus, there are lots of details around, and it has a high quality look and feel. Lots of detailed stone work, which includes the walkways and planters. As the landscaping grows in it will look even more beautiful. This area of Fantasyland has certainly come a long way since the former Toontown areas.

Check out the photos below for a look through the area.

Take a tour of Big Top Souvenirs from this morning's grand opening

Sep 30, 2012 | 10:00am EDT

The Magic Kingdom's newest merchandise location opened this morning at Storybook Circus in the new Fantasyland.

Not only does Big Souvenirs look great inside, it offers a great array of gifts, and an amazing on-stage kitchen producing all kinds of baked goods and treats. Look for exclusive cupcakes, including the cotton candy cupcake, the caramel corn cupcake, and the special Dumbo cupcake.

You can find everything in Big Top Souvenirs, from T-Shirts, plush Dumbos, the fab five, to iPhone cases, holiday ornaments, hats with embroidery service, toys, books, and much more. It feels like a combined and condensedversion of the Emporium and Main Street Confectionary.

Throughout the building are lots of great details, with everything having a high quality look and feel. It is also really well laid out, with the circular building having the on-stage kitchen in the center, with the merchandise surrounding it, and registers at the edges. It is spacious to walk around, and is a pleasant place to be to escape the crowds outside for a while.

As with everything in the new Fantasyland that has been revealed so far, it is a step up from what was there before, and is a great addition to the park. Head to the photos below for a look around!

Did a littel sleuthing ('cause I'm impatient) and I see that you have to register through the AP site.

Also that all members of the party must have active APs to attend. I was hoping if you could bring X number of guests we could get SIL & BIL in, as they're leaving before the soft opening starts. We'll still be there then, so not so worried about us.

Oh well, they'll just have to come back next year!

Ooh! Any chance you can post the "Get Details" link, or does it require you to be logged into the AP site?

If it does, looks like I'm out of luck. Unfortunately we're not getting our APs until we get there.

We're doing the ticket-upgrade shuffle this year, and bought our tix right before they went up through UT, so we won't have them til we get there.

But last time we bought them ahead of time 2 years ago I was able to login to the AP site with just our vouchers so we didn't have to activate our passes until we got there.
