Katman1356...Jason 1,140
I have seen some and I sure some of you have seen many more. Some home made trailers are nothing to look at. How about a 5th wheel? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4QKHCB34FM
h2odivers...Ray 952
Pretty impressive. I can't believe he built that for less than $10,000.
ependydad...Doug 176
I've seen that before. Gives me hope of one day building out my dream mini-camper: http://www.learntorv.com/2014/05/camper-design-sleep-6-under-20.html :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know I saw some travel trailers with murphy beds a couple of weeks ago at a show that appeared to be strapped upright for towing if that helps in your design. twiceblessed....nacole 433
Wow...my grandfather built his 5th wheel as well, and it too looked amazing. I was too young when he built it (plus they lived in a different state), so I didn't get to see the work that went into it. I am always amazed by the skills that some people have! How awesome to build something from the ground up... and a 5th wheel for $9,300? Mercy... that. is. AWESOME! :)
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Thanks for sharing the video, Jason. That guy did a great job. I tried to go on to the website he listed, as I'm curious about his background. Looking at the job he did, I think he must be involved in the industry. TCD
ependydad...Doug 176
TCD, I think I read he was a computer guy- systems or programming or something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oh. Amazing. Is there an article or something about this guy? I looked at the YouTube comments-I guess this was build back in 2006. I wonder how it has held up? TCD I may have read it when his website was online. I'm not sure. Looks like here's an interview with him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAPB3KtqNmw And, here is a site that captured the info from the old website (sans pictures, unfortunately): http://www.doityourselfrv.com/ultimate-diy-rv-project-custom/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now I'm even more amazed. The guy says it wasn't that big of a deal. It's worth noting, though, that he said he was less than an hour away from his suppliers. Seems like he was able to use a lot of actual RV parts. TCD
dblr....Rennie 224
If he was from the Elkhart In. area yes. very close to suppliers also surplus suppliers so that would help keep his cost down.

Retired and Happy (Ken) 101
I wonder if he had to get any special authorization of occupancy for that. I think it is amazing and probably better built than many commercial 5ers.
