Roller ... aka Ed 351
Epsilon was the one that screwed up - and they contract with a lot of companies. Expect an e-mail from credit card issuers, etc.
tim5055 120
Yup, it was a hack of Epsilon, who provides e-mail services for multiple major companies. I would assume that the companies would not give a vendor more than maybe the e-mail address and first name (as in an email ad that starts Dear Tim).HERE is an article about the breach
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
I got the same email from Disney and TiVo
tim5055 120
I got the same email from Disney and TiVoNot to hijack a thread, but lets hear it for Tivo :D
tim5055 120
And now I am starting to get the notification e-mail from my credit card companies. The last one said all the hackers got was e-mail address and my name. For me, those things are all over the web so I'm not to concerned. I always deleted advertising e-mails immediately so I don't think a little more spam will hurt me.
GOBA Mom Lynn 18
I guess everybody is sending out the warning email this morning. I got one from the College Board (the SAT people) with the same message. Shall we keep a tally of how many companies use Epsilon?Carry on........
TnBob 311
I got this email from Disney Destinations this morning also and it was blank, Kroger uses the same company and they got hacks also.
MandMandMandMandM 31
I did NOT get that e-mail & guess what, I already got an e-mail from the hackers! Yeah, lucky me. The problem with this is now they know the e-mail addresses & will send out spam (ie: trojans, virus, malware) to you & because it looks like it's from Disney Destinations, you open it & you get to take computer in ONCE AGAIN to have it fixed by a techie. So I'm going to unsubscribe to the e-mails & if I receive anything just delete it. Hopefully they won't use my e-mail address to send things to those on my contact list! (similar thing happened last year, some people got letters that their credit card numbers had been stolen, if you didn't get the letter you were safe. WRONG Mine had already been used. Do I have 'sucker' written on my forehead?) If you received a blank e-mail, that's from the hackers. Look at all of your e-mail from Disney, the end part of the address is different, looks like from Disney, but it's not. Flag it, report as spam, block address, whatever, so that you don't get from them again. And Thanks Todd for bringing this up:)
