  1. The early footage was great...and it was a nice relaxing break...Sorry to see it go...
  2. We were at the Fort during 9/11 and a couple of days later a tropical storm came thru...They evacuated us to Port Orleans...All RV's and trailers were parked in the hotel parking lots...All pets were allowed inside quest rooms...The storm blew through and the next day the branches were cleaned up and we returned...Actually went quite smooth...
  3. Leaning towards the beach and the Fiend party...Have to convince my daughter...Good advice on the bags for the parks...Thanks!
  4. Been away for a bit....Thanks for the suggestions ...We are torn between the balloon drop at GF or hanging by the beach...
  5. Its about time...In my opinion Disney is an animation driven park or group of parks...They have a treasure trove of Pixar movies and just about everyone would make a fantastic ride or two...Forget Avatar Land full steam ahead with Pixar Land!!!
  6. Glad he's going...Winnie the Pooh wanna be :)
  7. Any ideas for cool stuff to do on New Years Eve at the Fort or any of the parks...Most shows and dining are already booked....How 'bout some neat places for fireworks etc...Any other Fiends going to be around for perhaps a New Years Eve GG bash? Let me know...
  8. We were at the Fort a couple of years ago during a "tornado warning" for the Disney area. We started for Trails End. There was never anyone from Reedy Creek or the Fort going around warning people which I found disturbing. Even once at the restaurant we told people to go inside as no one else was instructing them and many didn't know of the warning......We had very gusty winds and heavy rain for about 10 mins but thankfully no tornado... It was enough to make me wonder of their emergency preparedness plans though!!
  9. We just went in April for the first time....I was nice but ponies were far away and those that were close were fenced in..There was one little guy who had escaped and was walking down the side of the road...He was pretty cool...We biked inside the park which was fun and the beach was beautiful ......Overall a fun trip but a day or two would do...
  10. I have a couple in Massachusetts...Normandy Farms (Foxboro MA) is resort camping and has been rated one of the top campgrounds in the country......4 pools (1 indoor)...Frisbee golf, dog park, very nice facilities.. right near Patriot place..restaurants, shops...Sites are kinda close together though and rates are in the $80+ range...Horseneck Beach (Westport MA) state run campground...No frills but right on the beach...Need to book way in advance...We have a nice little campground (Lebanon Maine) that we go to every year called Flat Rock Bridge...Not too fancy but clean and offers full hook u
  11. I DID take part in the survey...I resoundingly rejected the tiered system...At the end there was a comment section and I made it clear that as a family that has made yearly trips for almost 20 years we would certainly cut back on them if this system was implemented...Hopefully many people responded the same way...Disney already gets enough of our hard earned cash...enough!!!
  12. We did the trip last year with the camper...Stayed at the KOA on the Canadian side...Nice campground...Nothing fancy but clean facilities and close proximity to the Falls...There is a park app. a mile give or take from the Falls which we parked at and rode our bikes to the Falls each day...Parking is kinda crazy...Worth the trip though way cool...
  13. Welcome!!...We tend to drive to the other parks other than MK...The buses can be a pain at the end of the day when everyone is tired and one more line and wait just doesn't seem appetizing...Other Fiends have brought up a good point though as its your first trip you might want to get the "lay of the land" first...Have a great time!!
  14. Congrats!! Its a fun and informative site...A lot of work has gone into it and it shows.....We enjoyed meeting a few Fiends at Christmas and look forward to meeting more over the coming years!!
  15. We have a modest number of shares ourselves. I wouldn't mind a smaller return on my investment for more humane treatment of employees such as the IT people recently laid off...Unfortunately those of us who own small numbers of shares really have no voice...
  16. This past Christmas was our first time staying at the Fort for the Holidays and we had a great time...We decided late and Jason saved the day for us...I agree resort hopping to see the decorations was a lot of fun but the BEST was cruising around the Fort and checking out all of the awesome decorations at everyone's camp sites!! Plan to bring some decorations of your own if you can fit them in...We are returning again this year and look forward to meeting you!
  17. Not a big fan of waiting for the buses either so we usually drive to all but the MK...We are bummed about losing the AAA parking pass too but will still probably drive in.
  18. Agreed very important for all vehicles...I always made it a point to make sure my kids school bus drivers went over ALL emergency exits on their buses with their kids at the start of every school year as well..Be proactive and not reactive after a tragedy!!
  19. 2 refrigerators...That's kinda cool...(no pun intended)...Congrats on your purchase!
  20. With all the amenities the Fort is still a good "bang for the buck"...Especially when you factor in all the $$ you save by eating at your campsite and perhaps bringing snacks into the park...Even a few waters in a back pack will save you big bucks over the vacation...We still go out for a few meals but the money saved really goes a long way so when you factor that into the equation it still makes it cost effective..
