  1. Roberta,  as TCD said... "Relax"  you will fit in just fine.  In fact, you will blend in just fine.  I'm sure others can weigh in, but I have seen all kinds of camping equipment while camping at the Fort.  I have seen U-Haul trailers being used as campers, road tractors, horse trailers, and even saw someone once camping in a boat on a trailer. You already know that campers are some of the most welcoming and friendly folks out there...  Once you pass through those gates (heck even before you pass through the gates), you just need to enjoy yourselves and have a great time!

Thanks derek! We are flying and renting but the rental company wanted something crazy like $10 a day for their transponder but my dad just told me he has a sun pass! I think we will just bring that but I'm going to check that link and see if it's worth bringing. My luck i would forget it in the rental car when we turn it in.

Beckers,  When you get your rental car, and if it has their version of the SunPass or any other sort of toll tag (depending on where the car is licensed), make sure the lid is closed or the lever is flipped in a way so that it will not work.  The safest thing to do is to remove it from the glass and place it in the console of the car until the rental is over.  Most of the time these things are affixed to the glass by some sort of Velcro.  It would be terrible to get home and receive a bill for tolls plus their "convenience fee".

Also, if you are using your Dad's SunPass, and its the portable version, download the SunPass app to your phone as you are supposed to register the particular car you are driving at the moment.  Florida's SunPass system and the app allows you to temporarily register a rental car to use with the toll tag.  We do this all the time when we fly in and rent cars at MCO or TPA.  It is very easy and user friendly.

  3. I just spoke to my daughter and she and some of her friends went to see it last night... She called me a little while ago and told me that she absolutely loved the movie, and she is not a die hard Star Wars "groupie" either...  In fact, she has asked one of her friends who has all the prior movies to borrow them over the Christmas break so that she and I can watch them all...  So if you happen to be in the neighborhood over the holidays with nothing better to do, stop by and watch with us!

  4. I was in Tampa the past couple of days for work and wandered over to Disney Springs last night to kill some time and to have my AP activated.  I asked the CM who activated my AP about when I would be able to request my band.  She said that now that the AP had been activated, that an order request would be generated for me to go in and customize the band...  I'll let you guys know how it turns out... I just got back home a little while ago, so haven't had a chance to take a look yet.

  5. One other thing to check aside from your daily rental rate is for insurance coverage....  Check with your credit card company as some cards will cover the insurance if you use that card for the rental.  Also check to see if  your personal insurance will cover a rental car as well and get the details.  My insurance agent (State Farm) once told me during a conversation around this, is that if you use your personal insurance to cover the car and something happens, the personal insurance would pay to repair the car, however, the rental car company could come back and charge you for lost revenue while that car is out of service.  Things could have changed since then, but the time to find out that something is not covered is when you are watching the car being towed away after an accident.  I am in a rental car about once every other week, and my company carries the rental car coverage with their negotiated rate.

  6. I'm sure some of the Ford owners will be along shortly to verify, but from what I remember when I had my F-250 back in 2008, I would just leave the truck in drive and if I needed for it to down shift, I would just tap the brake and it would do it.  If the level of the grade caused the truck to accelerate past my comfort level or overspeed the engine, even if it was operating in a lower gear, I would depress the brake pedal firmly to slow the truck down the immediately release the pedal... Whatever you do, you do not want to ride the brakes so that they overheat.

  7. What is the deal with Disney starting up and adding more events around dining?.  They are attempting to do this with the River Boat, selling pizza in the All Stars' bus line, drinks and snacks in the Epcot parking lot, and using the booths that have historically been used for the Flower and Garden and Food and Wine at Epcot for food during the holidays...  I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing, it just seems like they are throwing things at the wall just to see what will stick.

  8. When we were at the Fort before Halloween, we managed to finally get into the Chase lounge after waiting about 15-20 minutes for some folks to come down, and like Lone-Star said, it was nice... pretty much the same as years before.  We also managed to get into the DVC Lounge on another day...  Had to show our membership card to gain access... It too was nice, places to sit, a couple of those Coke Freestyle Machines and a Keurig machine.  They had a person walking around with a cart handing out free snacks like potato chips, cookies and gummies...  All in all it was a nice place to rest and have some "free" drinks and snacks...

  9. The airbed that came with the sofa had a couple of straps that held it to the frame so when the bed was folded up the air mattress slid down behind the sofa.  The new bed does not have any straps and has had no affect on its operation or use.  When we are out camping, we make the bed the first night with a mattress cover and bottom sheet.  When we put it away, I just deflate it, leaving the mattress cover and bottom sheet still attached, and close it up like usual.  The mattress slides down behind the sofa.

When we leave to go home, or no longer using it for that particular trip, I remove the mattress cover and bottom sheet, deflate the mattress and fold it up.  Our sofa has a large drawer underneath the bottom sofa cushions that I store everything in...
