Geesh, finally the construction on BVD just outside DHS is coming to end. Well at least that part of it is.
All they did was add an exit lane leading out of DHS that merges into Victory Way. It took forever.
It's been a pain for the buses exiting DHS because they closed off one of the three lanes on BVD with cement barriers and somehow squeezed three lanes into the remaining space. So you had a foot of clearance on the cement barrier side and a foot on the other side for about a quarter mile.
They were paving it last night so it should be open today, I hope.

    How so?
I don't see how that particular carriage ride would be affected IF, you notice that's a big if, there were to be some sort of construction as the regular carriage rides have not been cancelled.

I don't think so. They did have a track record of success in California and it was one of those projects that was too big to fail.
The Disney Company had it's name, it's money, and lots of large companies ready to sponsor the attractions.

Not to put a damper on things, and before we anoint the WD Co. engineers, a number of big blunders were made back then that the company is forced to live with to this day.
BTW, the utilities, roads, and waterways were and are the responsibility of RCID, not Disney
Here are a few of the most obvious engineering blunders.
The famous utilidors/tunnels, which are not tunnels at all, the poor excuse for a real transportation system but really cool looking monorails, and the room slide-in concept used at the CR, were things that are good examples of bad engineering and will never be repeated at WDW.
Come on Lou, being a little tough on the Imagineerless aren't you? No, nothing annoys me more than poor engineering.
The Utilidors are actually a hindrance in day to day operations. They learned from their mistake so much so that every theme park built in central Florida since then used the perimeter access road concept which allows deliveries to be off loaded from standard trucks at all of the locations.
Only at MK does most everything have to be off loaded at the single Utilidor main entrance. Then because larger trucks don't fit in the Utilidors, all those supplies have to be delivered by smaller vehicles to the rest of MK locations via the tunnels. Time and extra equipment equals money. Not to mention that buses drop off and pick up at that same entrance.
Oh, and as you probably already know, they're not really tunnels. They're the first floor of a two story structure and for those that spend money to tour the tunnels, save your money. You can see the same thing at the bottom level of any large hotel. The only thing that makes it different is what's hanging on the walls.
The monorails, I don't think I have talk about all the flaws with the really cool looking monorails.
And if any of you are demented enough to think that it will be expanded, I've got a bridge in... yada, yada, yada,
The slide-in rooms at the CR, that was a joke. If it wasn't, why hasn't it been done anywhere else at WDW or anywhere else on land that I'm aware of. They do use the concept on cruise ships.
I'll tell you why, because it's a stupid and extremely expensive engineering concept.

I don't think anyone is going to bet you, because it looks like that is the correct one.
They've been doing a lot of construction work there for the last few months.
Not sure if they're increasing the pumping capabilities or what.

If it was still morning the driver was actually doing a planned run, freestyling is not allowed. They know where buses are and where they're supposed to be.
If a driver is either not there or heading there, they get a call asking what's your 20?
The bus stops are being watched in the morning for outbound guests either by a camera or a CM so when people are seen at a bus stop, the dispatcher will send the next bus in the dispatch sequence to pick up those guests and take them wherever they're going. The order of the stops is whatever works out best for the driver.
My guess is that he had people to drop off at the Fort and WL, but would continue to pick up at the CR and Poly before returning to DHS which is a standard run.

Judy, I've submitted a request to Fort management for an exemption for you regarding over use of Christmas inflatables because of who you are and because everyone loves you.
Ya, I know, you probably didn't know there was such a Claus in the official rule book regarding Christmas decorations.
The official rule book titled, Tacky Proliferation Of Inflatable Plastic Structures That May Or May Not Have Anything To Do With Christmas", clearly spells it out. I believe it's on page 598, paragraph 344, subsection 45.
But you and only you will get that exemption.

Not just my standard, I was simply agreeing with a previous poster.
Ok, let me say that I don't think Hilda's site organizational style is what it should be. How's that?
What do I have to say to make it worth more?
Well at least I might get some down arrows from Bob, I really need some.
And it was Starbuc that called Hilda's stuff junk first, so he should get one too, neener, neener, neener.
I think most people that see that site think it's a little much.
I've talked to Hilda several times and shes always been very nice to me, but as I haven't talked to her lately, I didn't know that she was no longer a CM. Correction noted.
I guess Bob34787 and I will have to agree to disagree about Hilda's site.

Lou... got a reaction from Nicki aka Rebelstand in First trip to the fort since losing my wife, any tips?
Today is a very special day for FF.Net and Fiends Helping Fiends. It's an example of what makes FF.Net very special.
I'll be stopping by Warren's, BayLakeCampers, site later this afternoon to present him with a check for $500.
For those that missed it or were not members of FF.Net at the time, we had a secret fund raising effort to raise funds in honor of Warren's wife who was taken from him and his family way too soon not that long ago. This is their first visit to the Fort without her.
Her act, and Warren's as well, of bravery in attempting to help a dog that was struck by a car and the resulting extreme sacrifice, demanded that FHF do something in her honor.
The check is made out to her favorite animal rescue organization, Phoenix Rising Border Collie Rescue, in her behalf.
The names of the very generous Fiends that contributed will be given to Warren as well.
Thanks to them, and you know who you are, we've done a very good thing and I was pleased to be a part of it.
My special thanks to Jen for her patience in putting up with my nagging to get me this and I need that.
Yes, I used the words Jen and patience in the same sentence.
For those that didn't know about it or weren't able to be a part of it, you can still do so by visiting the Phoenix Rising Border Collie Rescue web site and donating on your own. Make sure you include who it's in behalf of.
PM me if you need her full name.

    Thanks Andrew, I think.
    Seriously, I appreciate it.
Unfortunately you've never been a guest that I've interacted with while being a CM.
I take being a WDW CM very seriously. Guests expect a lot form us and I attempt to exceed their expectations.
The payoff is when a guest asks you for your full name so that they write it in on the comment card, happened again a couple of nights ago.
Or when one of the kids wants to give the bus driver a hug or a card that says thank you.
On Sept 7th, I will have a 16 year history at WDW. And while I came and went six times, it's still a long time and has been mostly pleasurable.
Even though working for Disney, especially as a bus driver, is a challenge, I'm still glad I am a CM.

    I agree.
I'm all for tastefully decorated sites, but too many are over done.
And it's not just at the Fort, it's out of control in most neighborhoods too.
I guess I'm just old fashioned, but I like the way it was done before the inflatable explosion.
