Would either of these weekends work for folks? September 24-26 or October 1-3?
-
Just bumping the thread up to see if there is any interest for continuing the Defeated Creek GG this fall.

Thanks for your input.

I might be in a tent but if I can make I am going to try to do so. Any weekend should be fine with me.
That would be great if you can. Thanks for chiming in.

March is when the opportunity to book a site opens up should we choose to have the Grand Gathering again this year. So as we are quickly approaching March, I figured we probably should get the conversation started. There are 4 weekends in September with the first one being Labor Day Weekend. They are 9/3-9/6, 9/10-9/12, 9/17-9/19, & 9/24-9/26.

In the last 10 years I have made some of my closest friends thanks to discovering Fort Fields one day while just browsing on my computer.
I look forward to many GGs especially the WWWs in the future. -

Yikes... that is off-the-charts wrong. By that logic, if I pull up with my tent gear strapped to the back of a motorcycle I should be able to get a Premium Meadows site for next to nothing!
A good argument for not taking the word of a self-proclaimed "expert" on YouTube as gospel.
I need to start working on my backpack camping skills.

Thankful you didn’t have to find out the answer to that question.

I’m in. I am sorry to hear about the problems with your hand. I will keep you in my prayers.

Merry Christmas!

So Gwen I saw on one of the Facebook groups you had mentioned more Fort time and less park time this trip. I know that is a huge change for you. Before you had mentioned going to the parks every day for a little bit. Positives and negatives you observed for this trip in light of your typical Disney travel?

It all depends on which way you go. We live in De and just came up from there in August, took 40 out of Tn to 81 then up 81 to Winchester Va then 7 to 340 to 70. Most GPS or map services want to route you thru 66 thru DC I choose to avoid that. Yes there are mountains on 81 but really nothing to worry about, gentle climbs, to me more like rolling hills. Now in November I would keep a watch on the weather, we did it in a car mid November last year with no issues. If you want info on stop over spots let me know.
Coming from AL I always take the WV route you mentioned above when traveling to visit family in MD.

I got my 5K walk in this morning. No, before you ask it is not my normal routine. I signed up to participate in the St. Jude Walk/Run to end childhood cancer. Originally the event was supposed to be last Saturday in Huntsville. They changed it to being a “Virtual Walk/Run” today. That way everyone could participate wherever they were. My walk was enjoyable, but I did have to resist the temptation to stop at various campers along the way. Especially when I could smell 🥓

All packed already except for cold stuff in the fridge 🙂
I started my other job at Asbury Weekday Preschool today. Thank goodness I am not scheduled to work Wednesday at St. John’s so I can get things together before Friday.

We won't be making the trip this time. My son is graduation college - he was supposed to Graduate March, but the ceremony was postponed due to Covid - so it will be happening now in, September. Sorry to miss it... hopefully next year.
Congratulations to your son. We will miss y’all.

So nice to see you posting photos. I feel 13 years younger. I need a real man of genius award in your next post.
I’m hoping these photo previews mean we are going to get a new TCD trip report next week.

Spelling's been going by the wayside for a long time already. Back when my kids were in school ( early 90's), the teachers gave spelling tests, but the grades didn't count. They just corrected the spelling and moved on. Their attitude was: " As long as we can ready the word phonetically, it's fine."
That is how we were taught to teach back in the late 80s early 90s. I remember the emphasis was on writing. Just get the students to write. Don’t correct spelling or punctuation. Granted this was only to be used for journaling type work.
I was also taught the whole word approach when learning how to teach reading. I did not learn about teaching phonemic sounds until my son was diagnosed with dyslexia. -
It was a perfect weekend. Just what I needed to recharge.

Frontier city is a smaller amusement park but it’s still a lot of fun. They have a waterpark area with slides, etc. it’s a lot of fun. So bring your bathing suit.
If your going during the week then yes 1/2 day at frontier city is plenty. But my 15yr old would say it’s not. Lol.
the Okc zoo is 110 acres which is 10 acres bigger than the world famous San Diego zoo.
but if you’re not the type that spends 15-20 minutes per exhibit 1/2 day should be enough.
but make sure you see the elephantsAnd the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is larger than both at over 130 acres. It has 17,000 animals of 962 species.
I may be slightly biased since I started going there back when I was about 6 years old, but I think it is the best zoo in the United States.
If your Traveling to the Fort on I-95 you need to know about Buc-ee's

Carol (Mouseketab) and I stopped at the one in Macon on the way to WWW2021 in January. My daughter and I stopped by the one in Leeds, AL on our way home from our out of state college campus visits. It was packed. Of course we are smack dab in the middle of spring break season here. So many breaks were either at the end or beginning depending on where you live.
