May is typically a slower month than April and the summer months. But let’s look at what’s available to passholders for the remainder of April:  I just looked. There are 12 days left in the month.  Of those 12 days, there are 4 with no availability. None. For any park. For four days. There are 7 that have limited availability- with no availability in at least one park each day. And there is one day where all parks are available. When I purchased my platinum annual pass in February 2020, I paid a premium price for unblocked admission to all 4 parks for 365 days, with unlimited park hopping. When the parks reopened last summer, I was limited to making one park reservation per day, subject to availability, and no park hopping.  At the same time they were restricting my pass, they were selling new tickets to resort and day guests who were allowed to visit parks that I was not allowed to. Why?  Because Disney  had my money in their pocket.  They wanted new money.

It did not have to be this way, but Disney chose to screw over passholders so they could sell more tickets. And that is just one of many crappy decisions they have made in the last year.

Oh I don’t disagree about how poorly the pass holders and CMs have been treated. But like you said they are looking at it from where can we get the most money.
I especially hate the way they treated the CMs. From the beginning it bothered me that they expected them to work to bring “magic” to our trips, but they were unable to enjoy said magic during their down time.

Congratulations you got what you paid for. Guests with more expensive passes that are supposed to have no block out dates and weekend admission don’t.

I was just looking at the May reservation calendar. My daughter is going to be there with her friend and her friend’s family. The parents have annual passes. My daughter and her friend do not. I am hoping they already made their park reservations. For the week they are there those with APs have availability at all four theme parks. Resort guests and theme park ticket guests it shows only openings for AK and Epcot.

The corruption and malfeasance has been from the Governor’s office and Legislature more than it has been from local governments. So we now have horrible roads, schools, and our environment is a disaster. But at least we don’t have a State income tax, and you can go wherever you want without a mask. Paradise.

My mistake should have said state and local not just local.

All of the above plus unmitigated government corruption and malfeasance. It is absolutely shocking to see the amount of unchecked development that has been allowed along the I-4 corridor with no improvement in infrastructure or provision for the astronomical traffic that logically flows from the unchecked development.

But if you have enough cash and know the right crooked politicians, you can build a toll road going to nowhere on or near land that you own and then build all kinds of residential units that will dump out onto the overcrowded interstates.

Thanks for the reply. Not living there or even traveling that way regularly, I don’t generally pay attention to the local government workings.

I would say the cause is idiot drivers, I usually avoid I-4 but this year I did use it from 50 back to 95, it was not that bad but I planned my trip well after the morning commute

Avoiding the morning commute is wise if you are able to do that. DH always does that. When we lived in MD he would go into work later and leave from work later. It worked for us too because at the time I was working too and our son was in daycare. He took our son to daycare and I picked him up.

I'd love to attend but I'd have to drive a whopping 45 minutes just to see some Fort Fiend knuckleheads. For those who remember me, I retired from Disney and now live north of Atlanta. I will show up at Stone Mt. to annoy as many of you as I can. It'll be just like old times at the Fort. And you thought you had gotten rid of me. I expect some apple pie.

Is McDonald’s Apple pie ok? I think I can afford that?

  7. So part of what makes Fort Fiends so special to me is the Grand Gatherings both those at the Fort and those away from the Fort. I just posted a Fall Grand Gathering that will be happening in September. Check out the Grand Gathering thread for information on the Stone Mountain GG September 10-12.

  8. Please join us. The official dates are Friday, September 10-12, 2021. Some of us are staying until Monday though.
Stone Mountain Park Campground has been recently renovated and site numbers have changed so be sure to look at the map to see where we have already booked sites. Those with RVs have booked sites in the Orange Loop. Those of us with tents and smaller campers/pop up have booked sites in the yellow loop near by.
The campground also offers rental options including trailers, yurts, and Safari tents.

This is the weekend of the Yellow Daisy Festival.

Like I said in the initial post, there used to be posts about the Fort, Disney, the evil Universal, food, characters, and ones that went off the track so far you had to go back to the original OP to find out what everyone was talking about.

There was always something to read and reply to.

    I miss those days.

I know for myself that when I first joined Fort Fiends I was a SAHM. My children were between the ages of 8-14. I had more time after they went to bed to post and comment. As they got older and as I started working part time my time became more limited. I also agree with Carol about the ease of posting pictures for Trip Reports is gone. Sadly, I don’t have a solution for that.
My thought is this rather than focus on the past, why not continue to just post when we feel called. When I need prayers or positive thoughts I know I can turn to Fort Fiends. If I need advice on places to eat either at Disney or even places outside of Disney Ike Memphis, I don’t ask my friends on Facebook. I come here to Fort Fiends.

I don't do Facebook. My social media is limited to this and several other forums and of those the majority are professional user groups. If Facebook became the primary communications vehicle unless it was mirrored here and visa versa I would likely stop not only posting but lurking too.  I'm not sure how many other members it would affect but I don't believe I am the only one who doesn't do Facebook.

Nope I know lots of people who don’t use social media. The page is set up to draw people here not to get folks from here over to Facebook. I was just thinking of the algorithms. If those of us who are on Facebook already like and comment on the posts then it gets more of a presence.

We need to have more of a presence on Facebook.  Dizney Mouse Campers seems to be very popular there.

There is already a page on Facebook for Fort Fiends. If you have not already liked the page here is the link.

Also, it is imperative that we “like” the posts and comment on them. I have been slacking in this area.

  12. When I joined Fort Fiends my girls were still in elementary school. My son was just starting high school.  They are all grown now. It’s difficult even trying to plan a weekend away sometimes where we can all go. Like I mentioned in the Defeated Creek GG thread. Our lives are moving in different directions.
I was thinking the other day about it and I was thinking it is like a neighborhood. When my family moved in to our neighborhood it was brand new. Like just a few streets done and most of us had small children. You would constantly see children playing and lots  of neighborhood planned activities As the children got to be older the neighborhood became more “quiet.” Some of the original families have moved away and new younger families are moving in. I am seeing an increase in neighborhood activities.
I think the same will happen here so long as we remember to let people know about Fort Fiends. Yes people can go on Facebook, but let’s be honest how many of us cringe at some of the advice given there. I do not go to Disney or camping nearly as much as most of you. When any of my friends outside of here ask me for advice or a question, I always say, “ Well what I learned from my friends at Fort Fiends is...”

  13. I recently took a trip with my daughter where we would be looking at some out of state colleges that she is interested in attending. Knowing that we would be traveling on toll roads, bridges (Chesapeake Bay) and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel I wanted to go ahead and purchase a pass. The EPass is now the Uni Pass. I purchased mine on Amazon simply because I could get it in the quickest amount of time. I was nervous at first that I didn’t have it placed right in the car. Until I got to the Bay Bridge Tunnel all tolls were non manned. When I checked the App I was not seeing my account decrease. Thankfully the morning we were going across the bridge/tunnel my account finally showed what had been paid in tolls. Also they had people manning the toll booths so, I went through a manned toll booth and the person lifted the arm gate for us to continue through.
I purchased the one that can be used in more than one vehicle. I just have to be sure to update the vehicle information when I move the transponder. Here is a link to the information about the UniPass.

We visited a Buc-ees when we were in Texas.

    Agree with everything previously posted.

The closest thing in the rest of the country would be a Wa Wa, but Buc-ees is about 10 to 20 times larger and sells just about everything under the sun!

It's hard to see from one end of the store to the other.  You will get your daily steps in !

I introduced my daughter Rachel to Wawa on the above college visit tour that I mentioned. One of the colleges she is looking at is Salisbury University in Maryland. It is actually where I got my Bachelors Degree.
