personally I would spend the extra money for a proportional brake controller like a Prodigy rather than a timed based controller like the on you mentioned. With the timed controller it basically waits a predetermined amount of time (milliseconds) after you have pressed the brake pedal in your tow vehicle and then will apply a set voltage (that you select) to the trailer brakes. You get the same braking power at 5MPH and 55MPH. Think of it like this....imagine you had to set the brakes on your tow vehicle to apply 80% braking every time you hit the brake pedal. You would get jerked to a stop at

That very well might be the case for us. We started with planning a trip to the fort in 2015, but were able to work out the trip this May. Now I'm wondering with the prices going up a couple times between our 2014 and 2015 trip if it will be worth it. The only thing that might bring us back in 2015 is another couple families were wanting to make the trek down with us. But for what it will cost us to stay for 10 - 14 days in 2015 it might just be hard to justify it.

+1 to what Rennie said. I had the same brake controller in 3 different vehicles now. I just have to purchase the $20(ish) cable (vehicle specific) for whatever vehicle it's in to connect to my brake controller. I have been using the Prodigy P3 controller and absolutely love it, the only reason it's not mounted in the new truck is because it has an integrated controller. I do however have the cable so I could hook it up in an emergency. If you end up with a Tekonsha brand brake controller you can see if they have a vehicle specific able available for whatever tow vehicle you get here: Clicky I

I get excited when the Lie-O-Meter in my truck shows over 13MPG empty, and haven't towed any distance yet with this one to know what it will get then. I just keep telling myself "I didn't buy this to get good fuel mileage" I seem to say that a lot as I'm pumping $120 worth of fuel into it every couple weeks.

They kept that for the 2011 run :D -
Great report, thanks for sharing and taking the time to post all this. I love the look on Z's face in the dessert pic from HDDFY!! Sappy dad note: I cant wait until our girls are a little older and can see the look of exitement/enjoyment on their faces while at Disney. Great job on capturing that with Z this trip.

If you are looking at a 450 wait until the 2015 models are out, they corrected what they screwed up in the 2011-2014 450's. Don't get me wrong, I love my 2011 F450 but it's not the 450 of old. Like I said, they are returning them to what they used to be in 2015. -
Another thing that you should watch is the cargo capacity of the tow vehicle. There will be a sticker on the drivers door jamb that will say something like "the weight of all passengers and cargo should not exceed XXXXlbs". Without getting too deep into it, make sure the weight of your family plus the tongue weight of the trailer do not exceed that.

Sorry if I missed this but do they have any permits to modify\remove the dam? I see the one posted to build the BABH but I would think they would need something else if they were going to alter the dam. It makes me wonder if they might be doing something to allow water traffic up to the new 4 seasons? But, if they were doing that I would think they would have to do some sort of modification to the bridge going over the canal closer to the 1800 loop as well. On second thought I guess I should ask... Is that canal wide\deep enough to support boat traffic?

Overnight suggestions

Thank for the heads up on Agrirama not doing the RV thing anymore, that really stinks as we liked that stop a lot. I guess I need to check out Eagles Roost or the I75 Park for this May. As for the return trip, we stay at the KOA in Forsyth, GA. It is an easy on\off and they deliver pizza to your campsite. I'm not sure if it was due to the fact we had been in the truck all day but their pizza and wings were fantastic. -

We stayed at Agrirama in Tifton, GA the last time we went down to Florida, it is at exit 63 on 75 south. It is right off the interstate and is basically a parking lot for overnighting, has water and electric but no sewer. I'm pretty sure they call it the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village. When we were there last it was $20 to stay and the security guard came by to get it from you. We are planning on staying there in May when we head down to the fort. Oh, and welcome from another Knoxvillian :)
