I feel the same way, but the days of enjoying Disney without a smart phone are gone. The TCD gang is about to sail again on DCL very soon. Currently on the ships, everything is on the app. No paper Navigators, no paper menus, and you have to join a virtual queue to get a time to disembark on Castaway Cay.  And did they upgrade the ship wifi?  Of course not. Unfortunately, no amount of complaining to guest services is going to change any of this. The elimination of all the printed materials is a huge money saver.  And those savings are not passed on to the consumer- the executive bonuses will be obscene again this year.

Hmmmm, stuff like this just makes me go into passive aggressive mode and play dumb old person. If and when I go back and have tickets, I'll just have to go to guest services and find out how to use this Genie+ thing without a smart phone. That's how we got RoR boarding passes.

  2. I can't get any answer anywhere, but my biggest concern is that it seems to be based on having to use a guest-provided smartphone to use the system. I REALLY hope that they revamp the FP kiosks to use the system with a card or Magic Band. I HATE using my phone in the parks, and have gone so far as to telling Guest Services and CMs that I don't have one. In the three or four times I've tried, I have NEVER even been able to get my phone to recognize the RoR queue. I've tried all the tricks. It merely goes from not time, not time, not time, not time..... full.

It really started rubbing me the wrong way, when we started dining out again and restaurants wanted us to use our phones to see the menu, and when we went to Disney, them trying to say we had to use mobile order, or using our phone to get a text for seating. I want a menu, I want a beeper to be called to my table, and I want to order in person.

  3. In 1500 The comfort station is right next to site 1503, so any site from 1501 - 1508 is very close to the comfort station. The loop is small with only 21 sites so, you are not too far.

There are 2 comfort stations in the 2000 loop. There is one in the middle of the loop. Site 2020 is right across the pathway to that central comfort station. There is also some sights around 2040 that is close that comfort station.

The other comfort station is near the end of the loop and right near the bus stop, so the higher numbers, 2059, 2060, are closer to that comfort station.

Mark- thanks for starting this thread. You asked a good question, and this thread gives me a good place to share some thoughts.

Yes, this message board is in decline. It has been for a long time. Message Boards are not popular any more. They’re all fading away.

As for this one, I agree with the others about how Disney and the Fort have lost a lot of magic lately.  The dealbreaker for me personally has been how poorly they have treated passholders and castmembers as a result of COVID-19.  I understand that they are a business, but Disney has relentlessly focused on making huge profits at the expense of loyal passholders and castmembers.  They’re also treating DVC members badly.

As most everyone here knows, before the pandemic the TCD twins had been castmembers for 5+ years and both worked very hard and put up with a lot to get on career paths that were very promising.  When COVID hit, that changed. One never got called back and the other took a temporary assignment with Disney doing some very important and sensitive HR work and was treated very badly.

They are 25 years old with college degrees, and could not sit around hoping that Disney would offer them some crappy positions when they finally decide to loosen the purse strings. So, they have both moved on. They both have new jobs with new companies where they are making more money and have brighter futures.

But, it’s heartbreaking for them to have been treated so poorly despite their hard work and loyalty.

So, it’s break time for the TCD gang and Disney.  Such a shame.

Happy to hear that they landed well!!

When I joined the group almost 8 years ago, there were so many different topics and posts on here all the time, that it was hard keeping up with all of them.

Over the last couple of years I've seen the amount of posts dwindling, to the point that sometimes it's a day or more before a post is replied to or a new one started.

Has everyone gotten so busy that they don't have time to post?

Or have people become afraid to voice their opinions or to post anything because someone might take offense or disagree with them?

This used to be the go to place for Fort information and even all things Disney, and it's sad to see the lack of participation on this site nowadays.

Either that or my settings are screwed up and I'm missing a lot of activity!

For me, we've actually lost some interest in Disney and the Fort. The uptick in prices, the fact that we can no longer buy an annual pass at present, and the pandemic, has put a damper on our enthusiasm for things Disney. (Especially since we just traveled cross country for three weeks, for less than a week at the Fort)
