MissyDisneyPin 0
I will be camping at Fort Wilderness in two weeks and I am wondering if there is a lot of standing water due to the frequent rain? I have requested the 800 loop since I will be bringing my little fur-baby and she doesn't like her feet to get wet.
stacktester 78
800 loop is usually pretty dry due to there are drainage ditches in that area. 1600-1900 however can be a lake. If you get a site that seems wet I'm sure they can move you.
ftwildernessguy 778
We had a nice waterfront site in the 1800 loop in September 2013.

BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Last November a raft would have been more useful than a golf cart in 300, but that's the first time we've ever seen it like that. It's also the first trip where we had multiple days of heavy rain. It didn't drain quickly either. Not sure how this latest messy weather has left things - any Fiends on the Scene to report? Grumpy and Grandma 739
If it gets too bad they do start pumping the standing water out, either into a storm sewer or into a tank trailer.

They had to do that in 300 in November. The inside site across from the entrance to the dog walk was practically an island.
Travisma 1,317
Tampa area is getting hammered again after a couple of semi dry days. I thinks it's heading inland towards Central FL.

Travisma 1,317
We were in Orlando last weekend at the Hilton on International near SeaWorld. We had rain on and off for the 4 days we were there, sometimes just a shower, other times raining so hard you couldn't see across the street, plus heavy lightning. Someone posted either on this site or that other one that they were at the Fort and it was really bad and their storm alert radio kept going off. Hopefully the rain in Tampa and Central FL will start to slack off, but the forecast for this weekend in Tampa calls for bad storms again (on top of the daily thunderstorms we've been having). I hope the Fort has really good drainage.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I hope the Fort has really good drainage. Most loops are pretty good. Unless it rains hard and often, like it did for a few days last November. Pack your water wings!
djsamuel 322
It rained a LOT last night and the campsites seem to have drained well. There are some piddles, but not in locations that would cause a problem. BradyBzLyn...Mo
GB&MZ 1
We've been here this past week and on Thursday night when it poured and just drove around the loops. The 800 loop is fine, no obvious swampy places. A few in the 2000 loop but all in all it's pretty dry, for Florida in August. There are a lot of empty sites in many of the loops. I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting your requested area.
