  1. Rene and I definitely weren't impressed when we went there for the first time this past October. On a positive note at least we can say we've been there. :D
  2. Ours has been five night so far and our next trip will be six nights. We are somewhat restricted with Rene's work on how long she can afford to physically be away.
  3. I keep a Coleman stove in the storage area of our camper. I use it outdoors for things that have a strong odor or create a lot of grease/smoke such as bacon. The Coleman also comes in handy in he event we run out of gas on a trip and there isn't a place nearby to refill it. We primarily use the trailer stove for eggs, heat and serve sausage, grilled cheese or heating canned goods. We always open the ceiling fan and crack the window by the stove to help draw any odors out of the trailer.
  4. It's not any different than using a gas range at home. The food tastes the same. I have found it harder to get the flame adjusted on the RV stove. It is much more sensitive than an in home range or commercial cook top.
  5. They aren't. Usually the higher the pay package the poorer the performance. Of course it isn't going to change anytime soon with the way the executives stack themselves across each others company boards.
  6. Agreed. My daughters enjoyed the educational rides as much if not more than the thrill rides. To me Epcot seems to have lost the idea of "What could be" which is what made it special.
  7. I'd go crazy with that many people around me. I can handle standing in lines but wading through a sea of people is just too much.
  8. Hot skin can be one of the symptoms of a miswired outlet post but could also be caused by a miswired trailer or chord. Mike Sokol has a website that talks about it. http://www.noshockzone.org/rv-electrical-safety-part-iv-%E2%80%93-hot-skin/ . I had the opportunity to talk and email back and forth with Mike a couple of years ago. It was for dealing with mainline power and equipment power supplies. It was related to professional sound reinforcement but as most conversations go we got off on a tangent about RV's. As a electrical engineer by training I will say the guy knows his stuff and I have a
  9. There is a strong resemblance between the two isn't there?
  10. Maybe it's just me being a Senior Software Engineer retiree from IBM that made it seem old when we walked through last October and I'll leave it at that. :D
  11. I recall seeing the IBM stuff back in the 90's so it isn't that new. Also from walking through on our last visit it still appeared to have most of the stuff from back then.
  12. Basically I keep the same tools I would for auto repairs. Hammers, sockets, hex/torx keys, screwdrivers, multimeter, 30A to 50A and 15A adapters, etc. For those that don't have one I highly recommend the multimeter. I never hookup until I've verified the voltage and grounds on the box I'm plugging into. While I have a good circuit protector to protect the trailer it isn't cheap to replace. To use the old adage "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". I looked up the Water Bandit and it looks like a good thing to get. I seem to remember seeing these in my younger years and think my
  13. For us it is immediate surroundings and location. Our site backed up to a canal and it was nice to sit in the morning and evening watching the various waterbirds wade along the bank. Surprisingly we even enjoyed watching the tree rats eating acorns in a nearby live oak (Something that doesn't happen at home, the enjoying part that is). Being roughly halfway allows for a lot of flexibility on how we get around.
  14. We liked the 1300 loop where we stayed and the 1200 loop looked nice too. We are planning on requesting them in that order on our next trip. Being walkers it is nice to be half way from the Outpost and marina. The one potential drawback might be the extra noise you get from the afternoon pool party but it is over by 5PM so doesn't affect having a quiet dinner.
  15. Looks like we are going to have a pretty big choir. I'm on a fixed pension. The DW has a few years left to qualify for retirement from the school system but has had one raise of $500/year since 2009. Monthly income isn't so much a problem as health insurance is. I have some coverage assistance through my former employer but it runs out this year and I will have to pay the full amount myself. This turns out to be about $600/mo for a high deductible plan. Same deal with my wife's plan as they changed it some years back that dependents have to pay full cost. While I can do better with an ACA plan
  16. Where are you staying? What type of food would you be looking for? I haven't lived in SoCal since the late 70's and last our visit to see family was in the 90's. Some of my favorites are still around but I don't know if they are still up to snuff. I still have a lot of family that lives in the Orange County area and can ask around for suggestions if you like. I will say I've always liked the Blue Bayou located inside Disneyland. They serve Cajun style food. It overlooks part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and come complete with fireflies flitting around. If you have time and can get re
  17. As others have said boats and buses. We also used the monorail to get to Epcot. Boat to The Contemporary, Monorail to transportation center and pickup monorail to Epcot.
  18. If it saves The World Showcase from becoming Frozen Land I'm all for it, even if they don't restore The Maelstrom.
  19. I don't use the pink stuff in the water lines either. I add it to the drains and add some to the toilet bowl to keep the seals covered. In addition to blowing out the lines I also make sure the pump and pump screen are free of water. If someone has put pink stuff in the water heater my guess is the best way to flush it will be removing the drain plug to let it drain fill with fresh water then drain again. Repeat until water runs clear.
  20. Raglan Road is where Rene and I are planning on eating the night we do Cirque. I'm happy to hear your glowing (?) review and makes me more comfortable with our plan. Got to hand it to you this is a great not a trip report report. By the way being the oldest brother I full empathize with what your brother had to go through and find his actions totally within reason. I just wish my folks would have laughed at it like yours are in the photo when I did similar things to my little brother. :rofl2:
  21. Looks like it might be a decent movie. Will add it to the rental list for when it come out on Bluray.
  22. I own a Mazda B3000 extended cab (Mazda's Ranger model) and you won't be able to get golf cart in it. The bed with the gate up is only 70" and the width between the wheel wells is a bit over 39". With the tailgate down the length increases to 91". The over all width of the bed is 50" but it won't be easy to work around the wheel wells plus the tailgate isn't designed for much weight and will likely result in damage to the hinges if attempted.
  23. Since you had the other thread asking about emptying the water heater. You need to be sure to never have the water heater set to electric if is empty. To turn on electric operation without water will burn out the heating element.
  24. I leave mine filled if I have filled it from a chlorinated water supply and we are going to be using the trailer within the next couple of weeks. If I have filled from a well, even ours, or the trailer will be sitting more than a couple of weeks I drain it. The amount of work to drain the heater it isn't that much and at 6 gallons it doesn't take that long to refill. I might look into the scotch thing though or maybe substitute a good bourbon.
  25. Why pay for somebody else's mistakes when we can give you lots of those for free. In all seriousness the information available through this site and from the folks that post should be able to get you whatever answers you need and help make your trip less stressful. Warning it might come along with a bit of irreverence and snark but that just makes it all the more fun.
