WDW to introduce driverless shuttles
PghBob replied to h2odivers...Ray's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
This story made the national news this morning. I think this technology is coming sooner than most folks think. Uber has been using driverless cars in downtown Pittsburgh for quite a while with no reported incidents caused by Uber. One Uber vehicle was hit by a car with a driver. -
Liberty Tree new lunch menu a Disappointment
PghBob replied to PghBob's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
Thanks for the latest info. We can try it out again this Fall. We really like the Liberty Tree more than any other restaurant in the MK. It appears that our awful experience in February has been fixed. Thanks Disney. -

I-85 Collapse in Atlanta
PghBob replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Saw it on our local news as well. From the video clips shown, there were several RVs near the site of the collapse, hope they got turned around and off OK. -

In Medical/Legal/Educational terms, ADA often refers to the Americans with Disabilities Act. Could it be directing Disney Transport to the appropriate place to stop to onload/offload certain guests that need help on/off the buses? Obviously, just a guess. -
Once again I had a chance to speak with the CM noted in the first post in this topic. I am told DVC has dibs on the River Country area, but has not decided what to do with it yet. CM states progress being made with the decision. Further, CM reported that "things" are being slowly removed from the site. Sorry to re-surface an old topic.

Route 95 - New Hampshire to the Fort need help
PghBob replied to Bruin12's topic in Camping To and From the Fort
Thanks for the info on Carowinds. Might try it next time I take this route. -
The rope fencing is up, but seems shorter than at the Fort. Perhaps to maintain the view. The animals will get you sign is up as well. We talked to a suit (with a DISNEYLAND name tag) roaming around the outdoor vacant space adjacent to the restaurant and inquired as to its intended purpose. His reply was it is to be used for an outdoor game/recreation area. I told him that the new bar/restaurant seemed to be doing very well. He replied that it is far exceeding expectations and that there are preliminary discussions about expanding it.

Magic Kingdom Gate Area Construction
PghBob replied to PghBob's topic in Disney and Fort Construction
TCD, thanks for the link to the older posts. It seems the roads will be moved but not the tool booths. -
I remember the times when they had a gondola ride in the MK. It was frequently shut down because of high winds. And, of course, they had problems with idiots throwing stuff down from the gondolas. I guess the new design fixes both of these issues.

There is much construction on both sides of the Magic Kingdom Gate area. I heard different reasons from different CMs, but the most plausible seems to be that Disney is moving the gate towards the MK. The reason is to permit we Fort dwellers and the car care traffic access to the roads we use without stopping at the gate. This, in turn, will shorten lines at the gate area for those going on to the MK. Fact or Fiction?

h2odivers said in part, hopefully they have a bunch of ceiling fans ... They do. Additionally, they have a bunch of electric heaters mounted up high. I did not see, but did not look too hard, for any AC type equipment.

DW and I ventured over to the new Geyser Point dining area this am. We give it two thumbs up. First the setting is gorgeous, sitting just off the shore of Bay Lake. If you consider the building as a rectangle, then 3 sides are open, with views only slightly impaired by structural supports. The 4th side of the rectangle is the kitchen/lines/bathroom areas. In the middle of the rectangle is the bar and bar stools. Surrounding the bar area are a number of tables and chairs (mostly with comfortable cushions) that entice you to slow down and enjoy the view. We had a breakfast meal there

Roaring Fork & Trout Pass Bar at WL to close Sunday
PghBob replied to PghBob's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
We tried to go there this afternoon and was stopped by a CM who was directing & signing in other CMs for the soft opening. I tried to humor the CM by telling her we wanted to be the first customers. She politely told us to come back Monday @ 7:00 am if we wanted to be first. We are planning to go back Monday, but not at 7. -
Thanks TCD.

Has anyone heard of a Copper Creek Development? Overheard a CM discussion today at the WL.

Liberty Tree new lunch menu a Disappointment
PghBob posted a topic in Dining Reviews and Information
Went to one of our favorite places to dine last week, the Liberty Tree, in the MK. We went for lunch expecting to savor some of our favorite meals. They were gone from the menu. In fact there were only 3 entrees listed, a pasta dish, a salad, and a cheeseburger. There was some option for turkey/etc. meal with sides. Gone were the pot roast & pilgrim feast. I questioned a long-time cm about this, and this person just lamented that the staff can't figure out why the two best sellers for the LT were removed from the lunch menu. This cm told me that I could still get pot roa -
Fort Wilderness Food Truck?
PghBob replied to Katman1356...Jason's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
Looked at it again today. It sits on a concrete pad and has it's own very robust power supply. The folks that built it, put on a front end treatment that looks like an old Winnie Brave. But, the chassis seems more substantial than an old class C RV. My guess is the folks who built the safari vehicles at AK, did this one as well. It also sports a Florida plate so it may be street legal. -

Spotted it last night at the camp fire area as they were setting up for the grand opening. "suits" said chuck wagon will close in a week. -
We agree about the Cattlemens in Oklahoma City. Great place, good prices. We especially liked the "parking lot shuttle". BTW, the Western/Cowboy museum in Oklahoma City is first-rate as well.
