  1. Don't forget that cell phones really change the way the game is played. You might add cell phone stealing strategies to your Golden Egg Hunt training. And there were a ton of RV's parked there. A snarkier person than me might theorize that the overflow lot was filled with free-loading locals who bring their crock pots with them or entire households worth of stuff to have at the pool all day long. We have now done Halloween (a bunch of times), Christmas, and Easter. I would say hands down that Halloween is the funniest holiday at the Fort. This year it was marina rentals. I t
  2. Easter Day at the fort continued. After our Trail's End breakfast we just relaxed and played on the playgrounds (marina and dog park) until it was time for the scavenger hunt. I did a thread on the scavenger hunt on the long drive home from this trip so rather than re-write it click the link and check it out if you want to know more about the scavenger hunt. http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/9598-easter-2013-golden-egg-hunt/ I do have a few things to add in the reporting of our Spring Break trip. On Easter Day the Overflow Lot had really OVERFLOWED and they were parking RV's
  3. NO! Funny stuff! I have noticed that too! It is frustrating to spend all that time getting in all the photos and text only to lose it and have to get clear back to where you can autosacv
  4. We have also missed Stef's presence and are happy to hear she's alive and well.
  5. I'm late but enjoying the trip report all the same. It is darn near impossible to work, mother, write a trip report and keep up with the "new" on this board. I will leave commenting up to my husband since he doesn't have the mothering or trip reporting on his plate, but know that I am enjoying what I read especially the geek 'discussions' and the great Fort pictures.
  6. She picked up eggs and didn't know there were prizes attached. Next time they already plan to go after eggs first. They assume there will be a next time. They are darn lucky kids. You are so totally right!!! I should say right now how pleased I am with the Auto save feature on this board. I was kicked off 5 times this morning trying to get this post on. The autosave feature was a God send in bringing back all that I had lost. But in my haste to get the post on and not be super late taking the kids to the Zoo to celebrate summer break I failed to look at the time on the last phot
  7. Easter Day continued So what do you do with Thumper on Easter Day at the Fort. You have a dance party of course. My kids all danced of course. Then on GaDawgFan's cue we stratigically placed ourselves for the candy scramble. I took this one with me. BuckeyeFortFan took BuckeyeFortKids 2&3 with him so they could line up next to BFK1's section. Here's a sun made entirely of DOTS boxes. There aren't many people here yet, but each bus that pulls up is packed full! Here's the markers to tell you what section your kid is going to pick up candy in. You
  8. I'm sorry this is dragging on. I know I keep blaming work, but it really is to blame. It has thrown us a curveball this past month. I can't let ImDownWithDisney finish his report before I do. Remind him that he will be totally recovered by next year and you want him to have the full Disney Easter experience. 1.This raccoon was not right and lurking. I don't like lurking animals. 2. Just wait for the pictures of how much we walked away with. WHOA! Long after it was over, they kept making announcements that adults should pick up the candy that was left. So I don't think there
  9. Easter Day 2013 Well, on our last trip we discovered that Santa knows where the Fort is and today we found the Easter Bunny does too. (check out my first ever trip report First Christnas Trip to Disney for the Buckeye Fort Family http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/8725-first-christmas-trip-to-disney-for-the-buckeye-fort-family/) Happy kids. These were the hit out of the baskets. We had learned from Kelly the GaDawgFan that it was best to be early for the candy scramble. We were early for sure. They were putting stuff out and setting up still. The candy scra
  10. I've never seen them eat a funnel cake that fast before. It must have been. The turkey walked right off the bottle.
  11. We do a lot of painting outside when we camp someplace other than the Fort (there's too much to do at the Fort). Watercolors and paper don't take up much space and there is always rocks to hold the masterpieces while they dry.
  12. I totally agree! Awesome photo. I pulled this up and thought wait did I post already? Although it'd be well over 6 hours I can't wait to see what this trip report brings. I was looking into the area as a non-camping trip but this might just be a nice camping place.
  13. Stef was one of the first fiends we ever met. And she is wonderful. Bubbly, full of fire and one of the friendliest persons in the world! I even have recipes in my recipe book that are Stef's. I miss her on the board too!
  14. Well, we looped a little while our dinner was cooking in the crock pot. We found only a few Easter decorations. We miss Halloween and Christmas. I found this wild turkey in someone's campsite. Seriously, that is YUCK!!! and would scare the daylights out of me if I found that upon exiting my tent. Cute Mickey and Minnie light poles. It's always good to loop with BuckeyeFortFan because it usually involves a stop for a Mickey Bar. He always says as we pull off property at the end of the vacation that he didn't have enough Mickey Bars. We came back to our loop to find
  15. No, Coach "wrong" is not what I call wearing a tutu to the Magic Kingdom. We'll just leave it at that. And my Lou...pic was magical, can you see the pixie dust? And a totat sweatheart. He really did. My youngest and Buddy warmed up to each other right away. It's not over.... Thanks for the kind words, schmuck face. Whoa, where is this going? ? ?
  16. If I recall correctly you are a transplanted Yankee. So does that mean that you have overcome your 'Yankee' fear of gators because you changed your address? PS I love the stage coach in the display case. It makes more sense than the calliope (don't get me wrong I love the calliope), but Walt bought that Stage Couch to give rides in Frontierland. It just makes sense that it should be displayed in the only place leftover to give the feel of the Frontier-our Fort. That's all this Yankee has to say.
  17. It's the day before Easter and we have just enjoyed the robot alien who plays piano while we stuffed ourselves (minus a few grapes) at Cosmic Ray's. We had 12:35 FP's for Peter Pan and we had a few minutes to kill before that and our next set of portals were in Fantasyland. So, that's what we did. I got bored so I walked the stroller over to park it and BuckeyeFortKid2&4 and I checked out the gift shop and then stood in the shade by the FP line entrance. I have a great "magical" castmember story. And since this a Lou... day I just HAVE to share. This was a very busy day in the M
  18. Those kids take forever to eat. They are a hard sell next to the fries. I'm trying my best! They really do get into playing it. It's cute to watch. I have no clue. I don't really pay attention. It's funny the things they enjoy. And they do love to play portals. I am a good wife and mother and I found all kinds of options to laminate them before BFF decided to go with the playing card holders. We never wait in lines for portals EVER! Seriously I can't pay attention through a whole portal let alone wait in line to take pictures of scenery.
  19. Before I continue on my Lou... day I need to take a quick DaveInTn break. Cosmic Rays Lunch. This is what you get for $55 at Cosmic Rays. Wait that wasn't all of it and you really can't see how good those burgers are. A little better, but there is more... 20 minutes later Our day of Lou... can resume.
