  1. This report needs a jump start! Come on Yvonne your avid fans are waiting.
  2. That is a lot of dirt. this is supposed to open in 2020 they will be very busy to get all that construction accomplished. My colleague is at WDW now and is a DVC member. I asked him to see what he could find out and so far the DVC people he asked about it said they don't tell them much about the resort and he could find out more on the internet. It doesn't sound like they have begun a hard sales pitch for it yet. I have asked him to gather anything he can. Unfortunately he doesn't have anytime to nose around the Fort. He probably wouldn't even know what to look for. As far as I kn
  3. I wish the simple life of River Country and swimming in a lake were still options but they have been gone for decades. I think Dave is right, the changes will probably end up first class for both resorts. Walt himself said his parks would never be finished so change is a constant. TCD you actually gave me some hope with your observation about the beach change. I don't think that will be the only change in that area. Even the artist rendering shows some buildings that don't exist currently and they could bring some nice surprises or upgrades. I also don't think the Fort will go away
  4. I have a few years on you, but I only visited the MK once when I was kid in 1977. I remember the park and seeing these great big topiary on the monorail ride over. I have a memory of Goofy water skiing as well. Unfortunately my parents weren't campers so I had no idea the Fort existed until my next trip in 1998. As soon as my kids were old enough we have made the Fort a regular trip.
  5. How long have you been visiting the Fort?
  6. Thanks TCD. That is how it appears on Google maps. Not sure if they would ever develop that shore line but there is a good deal of it. The more I look at the maps the more I think you are correct about splitting the beach. Looking at the artist rendering other than the Settlement and Pioneer Hall what are those three other buildings? The don't currently exist. I guess one is the barn?
  7. That would make sense. It probably wouldn't be hard to turn into beach. I have wondered how much land does Disney own around Bay Lake? If you crossed the canal by the Bat House and went up the shore till you reached the place where the Ferry's Dock. How far from the shoreline back does Disney own? Google Maps makes it look like Disney property all the way. The satellite view really makes your idea look all the more likely. What ropes are you referring too? I assume it was like most public lakes and had a defined boundary for swimming. My first Fort trip was in 2006 and swimming w
  8. So the more I thought on this last night and reading the latest posts... I believe we will see only a small access road to the boat dock and we will not have access to the beach for watching the fireworks or water parade... Now my glass is half-empty...
  9. Just curious where this artist rendering came from and how accurate it may be? It is possible the artist wasn't sure what was happening in that area and just romanticized the beach area for a sales pitch. Yes, I know my glass is half full...but I just can't accept the other possibility right now.
  10. So what are those structures then on Clementine's Beach? Do you think Fort guests are losing access to Clementine's Beach? Will it be part of the new resort?
  11. We stayed in 2023 in our pop up in 2012, I think it was. We loved that site. Far enough back in the loop and with good vegetation. The walk to the bath house wasn't too bad either. The outside of the loop is always our favorite. Looking forward to see how your week turned out there.
  12. We had a Coleman Bayside Pop up for 10 years. It had king sized beds on each end. I have two 6 foot boys that could sleep in one end. I loved sleeping in the pop up as it felt like tent camping. As I got older, the set up and take down was too much. We bought a crossover Class A. It has a drop down bunk over the driver seats and a fold out couch and a king sized bed in the back. A used one of these could be as affordable as some travel trailers. We spent 7 weeks in a row in ours and the boys never complained. Good luck on your purchase.
  13. Wait, isn't Disney considered liberal and Fox conservative? If that is true what view point will prevail on the news side of the broadcast business? I would think business wise both views would bring in more of the market than a singular view.
  14. I have to say this is impressive to me. As the cost goes down I can see every home in a suitable climate being built with solar panels on the roof. Tesla has an awesome solar shingle system that will power most homes in a southerly climate. It is cost prohibitive for most builders at this time but if it comes down in price it will be game changer, IMO. I have very much considered putting panels on the roof of my RV but we don't boondock enough to make it worth the expense and I am not a person that is concerned enough about the small amount of energy I use at campgrounds.
  15. Reading along. 1601 huh, so everyone coming into the loop got a glimpse of the madness that is WWW! Can't wait to read more.
  16. Gosh, I love hearing about getting the pop up ready! We owned one for 12 years and used it often. I remember fondly getting it ready for the season. We realized camping was a way of life for us we bought a modest motor home. Not as much work but also not as close to nature. I miss sleeping in the screened in beds. I can't wait to read more about how your trip went. Thanks for posting.
  17. There is a nice private campground on. a peninsula in the lake close to where we live. Great elevated 180 degree views of the lake. Rates are about $90 a night. However, you can rent a site for the summer months at about $900 a month. Many people just do that and park their camper all summer long. They call it their redneck lake house. Weekend sites are hard to get but during the week I've never had trouble getting a site.
  18. I think it would work out well. I won't be in there, but I agree with PGHFiend. I hope it ensures the Fort endures a lot longer.
  19. We are with you. I am finding my wife and I are enjoying camping without the kids as much or more than we did when they young.
  20. Gotcha. I wasn't sure if you were talking about privatized campground spots or campers.
  21. What do you mean by the auction sales have gone up?
  22. Amen. Now that our kids are almost too old to want to travel with us, my wife and I are finding we really get to enjoy a great vacation for 2 at Disney for what a vacation for 4 costs. More fun for us but no real savings.
  23. Interested to hear if anyone has a suggestion. We are always stopping around Macon or a little further south. Sorry, no help.
