Grumpy and Grandma reacted to Roller ... aka Ed in The Marine Corps Marathon
As many of you know, I was selected to race on the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans during the Marine Corps Marathon.
Friday, October 24th, I flew out of ECP on my way to Washington, D.C. Delta Airlines got off to a bad start.
6 weeks previously, I had called and let Delta know that I was flying with a wheelchair and a racing chair. It was all set - help would be available and the chairs fly free.
No help was available at ECP; at first they said the racing chair was too large to fly - even though the same chair clay and the same class airplane all the time; the cargo supervisor came.in, took one look and said, "no problem"; then they tried to say I would have to pay $150 to fly the chair on each leg - $300 to D.C.; when I said it was supposed to fly free, they got snooty; they said there was no information about the fee being waived - I pointed out they said it flew free, so there was no fee to waive; it started to go downhill, until I insisted they contact the CRO at Delta's headquarters; suddenly, they said they would do me a favor and waive the fees.
More to come ... this was mainly to celebrate my 10000th post.

    Dear, It's Ok,.

If the in-laws are that strapped financially that they can't afford the extra ticket you should be chipping in for the trip...

    Prudence.

This kind of "s---" burns my rear.

While out looping I got to take a closer look at the two brown towers. Based on all the "spokes" sticking out at various angles up and down the poles I expect them to grow branches pretty soon.

Grumpy and Grandma got a reaction from 5kidsmommy in Check in - anyone ever have this happen
Somebody must have been very, very new. Check-out is 11:00 check-in is 1:00, cabins are 3:00. They will on occasion extend check-out to 1:00, but only during non busy periods. I would have asked for a management CM and if it happens again definitely ask for a management CM.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but part of the renovation at the BYBBQ included the addition of Coke dispensers. If you remember it use to be tea, lemonade, water, beer and wine well we now have numerous Coke products. Also the new steam tables are now electirc instead of the old sterno burners. As usual the food and entertainment was wonderful.

The rumor is and from a very, very good source that in Feb 2015 a beverage station will be installed at the pool snack bar and it will be open from approximately 10 to 10. A quick serve food court may also be in the works, but a little later down the road.
Rumor confirmed - skip ahead for more details.

I know some of you may not like the change, but the Public Works guy in me is thrilled. Finally a little uniformity with the signs. This is long overdue.

Grumpy and Grandma got a reaction from 5kidsmommy in A site for an RV and a tent?
With the internal buses there is really no need to walk to the dock since they drop you off near the TCD Ranch and the dock is a short walk from there. Why not shoot for something in full hook-up (1600-1700) 1601-2-3-4-41-42-43-44 1701-2-3-4-38-39-40-41 which would put you close to the pool and CS.

Grumpy and Grandma got a reaction from djsamuel in DW has a RV question?
OK. I guess it's time to come clean.
For the last 13 years we've been in a MH and in July we went to look at the new SENECA since I am one who does not want a class "A" for numerous reasons. The primary one being I want something between me and the bumper besides the windshield. Well for numerous reasons we did not like any of them. Then we spotted a new FW floorplan from JAYCO and when Grandma walked in her reaction was the same as when she first sat in our current SENECA, "SOLD". So now have an order in for a new JAYCO PINNACLE that we will have for our Jan trip to the FORT. There is a very slim possibility that we will have it for October. We had 2 FW prior to the MH's so it will not be a new experience.
Here is Grandma's new retirement home, but with a lighter material on the furniture.

And to answer your question Ray we've had a wide variety of units, starting with a pop-up and we don't regret any of the purchasess. The biggest reason for the new change is because when we bought the SENECA we knew we would be doing many 2-4 week trips, but never knew we would be doing 3 month trips so the additional space will almost be like home since we only use 4 rooms out of 7 when we are home. As far as getting a MH and towing a car any front wheel drive car is towable with a dolly, so depending on what kind of car you have at home that may be a wash.
The things to really look at are how much space do you need to be comfortable and how long will the trips be in duration and what are you comfortable driving? I have a CDL so it really doesn't matter and Linda has never towed or driven any of them.
And as I said earlier I don't travel much over 350 miles a day and haven't for many, many years, but I have always been fortunate enough to have the vac time (and now we're on permanent vacation) to not have to rush.
Good luck in your decision making.
