  1. Wow, the big chicken..... I used ot live a couple of miles from there. The big chicken is what is used as a landmark to give driving directions in that area
  2. Yup, new prices for several things including parking and annual passes released. I’m glad I go my AP last week.... https://wdwnt.com/2018/10/annual-pass-parking-magicband-prices-raised-at-walt-disney-world-effective-today/
  3. Just as an update - It worked like a charm. We got the 10 day hoppers for $996 We entered Epcot with the hoppers and walked in a circle to the exit. Went to their guest services and upgraded to 2 AP’s for $700. That ended up saving $110 plus a few cents over just purchasing 2 AP’s! While at guest services we had our tickets prioritized on the Magic Bands so the AP’s get used rather than the 7 das remaining on our non-expiring tickets. We even found we had 4 remaining “pluses” each, giving us 4 water park entries....
  4. Obviously the originating city of a flight can affect the pricing. If you are anywhere near a SoutWest city that helps hold down the costs. I have a trip to Jamaica booked for April and I'm waiting for SWA to release the last half of April on Thursday. As of today Delta and American are pricing between $650 - $800 a seat, but my guess is when SWA releases on Thursday I can get on them for around $400 a seat. Just look at flights from your local airport to MBJ (Montego Bay Jamaica)
  5. I agree with both points. But, until folks vote with their feet Disney will keep raising prices....
  6. I get it, Disney needs to make a profit, that is what they are in business for. But, they are pricing themselves out of the market. We find that we take more trips to Sandals Resorts than we take to Disney now. I'm sure our age and things we like to do factor in, but I just priced a 7 day Disney trip and compared it to a 7 day Sandals trip So, here goes- October 30 – November 6, 2019 2 Adults Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort 5-Day Ticket with Park Hopper Option Disney Deluxe Dining Plan $4,839.70 October 30 – Novemb
  7. Yea, they are catching on to how we can extend tickets and use them on multiple visits. Before the non-expiring tickets went away the wife & I picked up 2 10 day park hoppers each. I will probably cry when all those days are gone.....
  8. While I am a huge fan of Google Maps and Google Earth, I have stopped using them for travel navigation for several reasons- First, just like the comments here, it can sometimes lead you into difficult situations. Second, Google maps relies on a good data source. One would think that driving along an interstate highway you would keep a good signal, but not always. We left home in the mountains of NC headed to Ohio to visit the DW's father. Westbound on I-40 in the NC/TN border area and we drove right off the edge of the map. We probably drove for 15 or so minutes before we got a s
  9. Thanks Carol. While I was waiting for your reply actually fond a link from Allears to Maple Leaf Tickets that saved an additional $20 per ticket over the UT tickets. I have always used UT in the past, but all the research I did shows Maple Leaf just as good and the extra cash helps....
  10. Well, Mo is the last one to talk about this last October. Does it still work? UT has a couple of tickets that are a $65 discount, so it would be a $130 savings for the two of us. As we are looking at several trips over the next year the AP would be worth is..... Carol??
  11. Before Disney eliminated the non-expiring tickets we purchased 4 (2 for each of us) 10 day non-expiring park hopper passes. We only activated one each on our MDE accounts and right now have 6 unused days each on our accounts. We generally only visit once or twice a year and on those trips there is more Fort time than park time, so we generally only go in the parks a couple of days. So, here is the question- Over the next year we have several trips planned so an annual pass may be a better deal for this year. How would that work on our MDE accounts with remaining individual
  12. It did open November 19, 1971 and I was being a little generic when I said it opened with the park. The Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, Poly Golf Resort (now Shades of Green) and the Fort were all built basically concurrently to the best of my knowledge. I've neverheard of it being used for contractor housing.
  13. They purchased the land in 63-65 and the planning for the fort wasn't far behind. it opened with the park, so figure 68/69ish for the build. That is a long time for utilities to last.
  14. I was there in the middle of May and they had identified a problem - lots of "suits" were running around, looking and measuring.
  15. It would appear to me to be on the dog walk area behind the 1800 loop. The photo would be taken from the Four Seasons side of the canal.
  16. If you are going to cruise, how about all inclusive: https://www.rssc.com/experience/all-included/ I like the FREE Unlimited Beverages Including Fine Wines and Premium Spirits FREE Open Bars and Lounges PLUS In-Suite Mini-Bar Replenished Daily
  17. You need a Pilot RV Plus card. https://www.rvpluscard.com/ " Discounts of at least $.05 off every gallon of gas and $.08 off every gallon of diesel in the United States." The down side to this card is at the end of the billing period you can not send them a check. You must link your bank account and pay with an electronic funds transfer. There are a few "franchise" Pilot location that do not honor the full discount, but I get at least something off at every Pilot.
  18. Yes, they include the gate code on your invoice they e-mail you. You can arrive at any time and get in. 2122, backs up to sites in the 1100 loop. Yes, I liked it. They are currently cleaning out the canal on the opposite side of the loop and piling the mud on the bank. I didn't want that side while they were working. Some sites were shorter than others, but other than the two next to the comfort station sidewalk and a couple that back up on to the main street all seemed nice. 2100 loop is a bit out of the way if you don't have a golf cart. I did so no problems.
  19. Well, our week at the mouse ended up being a relaxing time - but hot! We really linked the 2100 loop and would not be disappointed if we got it again. But, this trip was in our 18' Aliner. For future trips we will probably bring the big camper, a 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express 297RLDS. We liked having our golf cart with us so we will probably bring it for future trips. Our current drive time from SC is a little over 6 hours and we normally stop about an hour shy of the Fort when traveling down. Once we move to the mountains full time it will increase the drive to a little over 8
  20. We actually rescued this cat in a campground. He was a tiny kitten and walked up to us by the campfire the first night in the campground. We talked to the ranger (Maryland State Park) who said he just appeared a couple of weeks before. They planned on calling animal control to pick him up. My guess was he was the runt of the litter, and he had obvious respiratory issues, (including the inability to meow) and was dumped in the park. He had learned that by going from campfire to campfire he could beg a meal. We we took him home, and the rest is history. He still loves campfires. W
  21. Well, I'm starting this on day 5 of 7; bad Tim.... As is our normal trip, we drove down the day before our reservation and stayed at Volusia County Lake Monroe Park $16.50 for water & electric site with a clean bath house just east of Orlando on I-4 wi h normal traffic figure an hour to the Fort. I arrived about 9:30 towing the trailer and checked in immediately. We had already been assigned a site in 1600 (don't like it) which was not ready a,,but he said we could have one now in 2100. For,this trip we brought the Aliner which is about 18 feet, plus the F-250 I ba
  22. OK, I admit - while viewing the show from Bay Lake Tower looses the perspective of being on the ground in front of the castle, you still get a great view. I wasn't drinking yet, so I can't blame alcohol - but the "story" was difficult to follow, and that was with good sound on the observation deck with a decent volume. I doubt many down on Main Street will be able to follow it in the crowd. I totally missed Tink flying and prefer that as the start of the show....
  23. We got to see the last night of Wishes (staying in the 2100 Loop this trip) and are going to see the fireworks from Bay Lake Tower tonight. I'm not sure we will make it in to the park to catch the projections on this trip, but may....
