rdancemom... Pam reacted to LORNADUCK in What being a Fiend is ALL ABOUT
I am putting this on the public forum, because maybe some of the lurkers out there will realize how great Fiends are and come out of hiding and meet some of us.
As you all know Jason is there for a few days, Carol loaned him her tenting equipment, I had agreed to go up tomorrow and pick it up from him, because I am going to see Carol on WWW. Well Rich and I still haven't gotten over The Crud from New Years yet.
So I called on another Fiend to help me out bord1niowa....Curt, I asked him to do a really big favor for me (I also thought he was still at the Fort, but he had left already). I explained what Rich and I were supposed to do on Sunday and asked if he could pick up the equipment from Jason for us. There wasn't even a stop and he just said we will work it out.
I can't tell you how much that helps us.
I thank my lucky stars every day that there are Fiends out there, I know I can't count on. I just hope I am as good a Fiend to them if they need my help.
    THANK YOU AGAIM CURT.

rdancemom... Pam reacted to Tri-Circle-D in Ultimate Bragging Rights! TCD's New Fantasyland Passholder Preview TR
If you have ever read a TCD trip report, you are familiar with my use of cliffhangers.
I am going to go against the grain for this TR.
We will go right to the money shots:

Those photos were taken at 7:02 pm on 11/3/12.
    In the MK.
I was in the first group of non-castmembers to (legally) drink a beer in the Magic Kingdom.
The Magic Kingdom has been open for 41 years now.
And for 41 years, not a drop of liquor was sold or consumed by a paying guest.
    Until 11/3/12.
    Ultimate Bragging Rights!
I could stop this report right here and it would still be awesome.
But, I have to tell the whole story.
From how we got the chance to do this, to the other awesome things we got to do that day before arriving at the Be Our Guest restaurant.
So, in the next post, we will back it up to the beginning of this epic story.
And, the beer was not the only first-time thing we got to do on our visit.
In fact, if I'm counting right, there were at least three other things we did or saw on this one day that we had never done or seen before.
So, check back later for the rest of the story.

Old Lar would curse you for driving a cart in the first place and not riding a bike ,after all, if you were driving the cart, you had to be using some kind of electricity that was for someone else and you would not want to do that would you, I mean really, not going and riding your bike around the fort and riding in a golf cart, but Lar would also commend BB for selling his cart because then he could go and ride bikes and save the tree bark so all trees could grow and his dogs who bark all night long and piss off FWGuy could pee on them and strengthen them for all eternity.
How did you like my Lar sentence? :rofl2:

I am sitting hear LMAO, because when you think about it, people think we are all NUTS. I said it before and I will say it again. There isn't anyone who I have met from this board that when meeting in person for the 1st time, that I haven't felt like I knew them my whole life (and that's a longgggggg time). It hit home most at Stone Mtn. we pulled in really early and were waiting to see if Kim and H were up and about, when I saw them moving around outside I went over said hi to Kim, we hugged (we do that a lot too) and looked at her and said I know this is the 1st time me are meeting, but I feel like this isn't the 1st time meeting. There is a comfortable feeling with everyone, from here. Last year being my 1st WWW, I was a little nervous, since there were a few women that I had talked to for years on line, but never had met, we hugged each other, and just felt at home with each other right away.
You know when you have been friends with someone for many years and then don't see them for years at a time, then when you get together, you start out where you left off. That's how I feel when I meet up with fiends, don't know if I am sounding really nutty, or if you understand what I mean!!!!

I don't understand why Disney can't come up with a reservation system like PA has for their state parks. When you make your reservation online, you put in your dates and size of your trailer, it comes up with available sites and you pick your site. When your check in, you already know your site.

rdancemom... Pam reacted to Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo..Karla in A Trip Around Disney's Epcot Food & Wine Festival (pics included)
Thursday was the soft opening for Disney’s Epcot Food & Wine Festival.
Come on along as we start a journey around the world with stops in many countries for some (we hope) fantastic food.
Cast members, their families and friends were encouraged to attend.

    Official welcome to the festivities

First we had to purchase our “thing-a-ma-bob” so we don’t have to drag out the wallet each time. It’s so convenient and certainly makes it easier for Disney to part you from your money .

    SOUTH AFRICA

Seared Filet of Beef with Smashed Sweet Potatoes and Braai Sauce – The meat was so tender you could almost cut it with the plastic fork. The picture doesn’t show the meat with the Braai Sauce because it’s spicy hot with a peppery after taste and I chose to leave it off. The sweet potatoes were so sweet that some may not like them.

Spinach and Paneer Cheese Pocket – Crispy outside, could have used more stuffing inside. Has a spicy sauce added inside to the mix of spinach and cheese.

    BELGIUM

Belgium Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream – Soft waffle that could have been a little warmer. Berry compote was sweet and had a nice little tang to it.

    CHEESE

Cheese Fondue with Sourdough Bread – Bread on the stale side. Fondue tasted mostly like swiss cheese. We heard some people describe it as too “white wine” tasting.

Artisan Cheese – (L to R) Beecher’s Flagship Reserve Cheddar, Rogue River Creamer Echo Mountain Blue Cheese, La Bonne Vie Goat Brie – All tasted great, wish there had been more. The Brie was more solid, not the creamy variety.

    GERMANY

Roast Bratwurst in a Pretzel Roll – Needed a nice hot, fat brat. Pretzel roll was hard and stale. Probably our least favorite of all the food we tasted. If you want the Apple Strudel, go inside Germany and get a nice big piece for only $3.79.

Schinken Nudel (Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese) – Very tasty, would have been nice to have a little more ham. Large piece easily split between two people.

    IRELAND

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Baileys Ganache – Really good but we were expecting a “molten” center. This one was warm but no runny center. Could have been a little bit bigger taste.

    CHINA
Mongolian Beef in Steamed Bun – Light, fluffy bun and not spicy. Good crunch texture with the added noodles.

Pork Potstickers – Very flavorful, nice and hot.

Mango Tapioca Pudding – Sweet with big tapioca pearls. Mango tasted canned, not fresh.

    SCANDINAVIA
Swedish Meatballs with Lingonberries – Very tiny (on the stingy side) and bland meatballs.

Rice Pudding with Strawberries – More bland pudding but fresh piece of strawberry on top.

    AUSTRALIA
Lamington (Chocolate and Coconut Covered Yellow Cake) – Moist coconut on outside but inside yellow cake was dry.

So that’s it for today’s round of taste testing. As soon as the stomach settles we will venture out again to check out Hops & Barley, Morocco, Poland, Italy and all the others we missed today.
    Hope you liked tagging along.
And, as alcohol is now on the no-no list :'(, somebody else will have to report on liquid refreshments.

Oh don't be silly guys. That what fiends are for right? It was an epic derailment. I only hope what I write will be worthy. The pressure is on now. LOL even TCD can't say he broke a ff 200,000 post milestone on one of his TRs. That's a pretty impressive accomplishment right there, even if I had nothing to do with it. Not to mention funny. The only problem is that I suspect I'd have had too much fun by the end of your imaginary version. Left to your own devices, you might make us all blush :naughtywave:
Awesome! I was thinking about it last night on the way back from Mom's and thought maybe I'd edit the first post to include a cheat sheet listing the page numbers of updates for those who don't want to read thru the squatting.
And the adventure has only just begun. Isn't it a skink that they tell new campers to hunt for? I didn't think those really existed. wait, no, strike that, reverse it. DH says those are snipe hunts.
Oh well, one thing I am sure of is that you don't have to hunt far to find a skank. Never fear though, we won't be showing any of those off here. I'm utilizing the MPR rule on that one cause if I didn't I'd break my own NDR.
And there'll be more to come just as soon as photobucket stops glitching. For some reason, it'll let me in but I get a 504 error page, whatever that is, when i try to open my albums...
:panic: More snakes?? Not me, I'm sending them all to Lou's from here on out...
I'd never been to a dock dogs event before. Those people really know how to take over a place. But that's my little green monster speaking. Honestly it looked like they were having a great time and it was so cool to see all the dogs. Even better was watching them walk around the grounds and seeing the little kids come up and hug them. The looks of pure pleasure on both human and dog faces left me smiling all weekend long.
That was quite a hi-jack was it? It was late but obviously none of us were doing squat. :stooges:

or, in my mother's words, "July 4 was weeks ago - are you ever coming home?"
If given a choice I think we can all guess the answer to that one. It's a short one syllabel answer that might symbolically swirl off my tongue. I was good though, I bit my tongue. Sometimes so hard it was a miracle I didn't look like Scrooge's partner Marley with his drape of gauze wrapped around the head to keep his mouth closed.
However, in all fairness, I couldn't blame her. We did take their grandchildren away for over a month so eventually we'd have to come home. We had to. Honestly.
    We did... didn't we?
I'm still not sure. Next summer maybe we'll test that theory more closely. For now though, I'll share a few highlights from this summer while dreaming of the next...
In this TR we'll be looking at those warm sunny days beginning June 21 and ending July 30. I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I should have given the number of days involved. Beside singing along with Jason Aldean & Kix Brooks, this report is titled "Chillin on a fort road" b/c that's exactly what we did - no spreadsheets or excess drama allowed.
EDITED TO ADD - this TR quickly turned into a train wreck of truly fiendish proportions with a hijack that somehow managed to reach ff.net's 100,000th post and beyond while the squatter & Nicki explored imaginary parts of our trip. For those who don't want to read thru the SQUAT - you'll find updates on pages 4, 12, & 13, then skip to page 15 where we'll pick back up with our previously scheduled adventures...

then I gave cards to both the camping groups doing GG's at Carolina Crossings CG on Saturday and to the neighboring sites as well. DH teased Starla & I, saying we looked like a modern day Hansel & Gretel, leaving a trail of business cards behind us. Hope it works...
