  1. What are your "must haves" and recommendations to bring along for safety or convenience?
  2. Enjoying the trip report , especially the BOG beer challenge. That camper on the flatbed looked a bit like my first camper, a sixties (older than me) Yellowstone.
  3. I wish the autotrain started farther north. I also went to Circusworld, and it was also empty. It must have been the early eighties. I would have done the looping out-and-back coaster several times, but it was such a cold night that the coaster was barely making it through the loop and back up to the other end, so thjey shut it down. We did the wooden coaster, Florida Hurricane, until my Dad was nauseous, though.
  4. Many people raved about the grilled cheese on Disney Cruise Line's room service, so we made sure to order it once. i thought it was terrible. I think it was three pieces of toast interlaced with American cheese and microwaved. Bleh. There are some good choices in that article though--I will have to try the Grown Up at Cook's when we are next at the World.
  5. That's great news. I have found that Netflix's selection has been terrible for a while, and this should provide some decent picks for a change, especially for Disney fans.
  6. My "New Hope" is that they change course and make it a Star Wars Universe. Oh, to be able to enjoy a frozen concoction in the Mos Eisley Cantina! There is so much more to take from using the many rich worlds of the Star Wars franchise, many more globally-beloved characters, and opportunity for collaboration between IL&M and Imagineering.
  7. Many years ago we saw Blair Underwood. He did a fine narration but I was captivated more by the sign language interpreter in front of where we were seated. I never realized that one could "sing" with ASL. We bought the CD which featured Phylicia Rashad who also did a good job of story telling. If I had my druthers I would have seen Roy Disney or Gary Sinise. So now I would be hoping for Lt. Dan like everyone else here :) Do they still have a shopping discount if you do the dining package?
  8. The best advice I received was pick the destination, the cruise length, then the ship.
  9. Yes. I think they would just like it if you stay at the far end of their lots and maybe buy something from them :) I added a POI file for my GPS of all WalMarts for that reason.
  10. I hear that Orlando has the Mears shuttles but is much busier. Kissimmee has no Mears, takes longer (a stop after Orlando) but will be less crowded.
  11. Here is a website that might help you out: TaxiFareFinder. Hopefully someone will have some firsthand experience about the fare.
  12. We cruised a Western for our 10th anniversary in October and I would do it again in a heartbeat. We got rearranged, added, and skipped ports of call, but it was still a fantastic time. The only caveat I would give is make sure you get trip insurance and that your connections to the port won't be messed up by a storm in the area (i.e. don't fly in the morning that the ship departs).
  13. Yeah, I was a little disapointed, but I guess they really prefer simple and familiar food. I should have done a better job in suggesting a regular steak, chicken, salmon, or just a burger. I think everyone was just so surprised that they would ask for it. They did go to Palo with us one night, so they still got to try some amazing food. Speaking of trying something new, I was excited to find a traditional Scandinavian appetizer on the "Till We Meet Again" menu: gravlax. It was part of a new item called Salmon Three Ways. Since this is just cruise #2 I can't speak to the decline of service,
  14. Our servers for this voyage were Savio from India and Goran from Croatia. I got the feeling that Goran was on his first contract and was still learning the job. I was a little disappointed because I had bragged to my in-laws about how fantastic the service was, and it wasn't anything like our last cruise. The drinks were late and refilled infrequently, the food didn't arrive at the same time for everyone, and we got the wrong food on occasion. I got the feeling that Savio was having to work harder to make up for Goran, so there was none of the wonderful interaction with the napkin hats, m
  15. Yeah, I wish I took the time to get a picture with he Mounty, too. I heard there was a piper and drummer in Scottish regalia for the send off, that would have a been a neat experience, too. I wish i got better shots of the seals. i think on a warmer day we might have caught them sunning themselves somewhere. As it was, they would just pop up a few dozen yards from the boat, check us out, then submerge again. If you like lighthouses, you would have enjoyed this cruise. There are a ton of them! That lighthouse behind the sailing ship is George's Island Light (Inner Range Front). The most
  16. To echo several other Fiends, this TR makes me want to sign up for another cruise. You look like your family had a blast! We loved our trips on the Magic and I was reluctant to book the Dream or Fantasy due to their bigger size and increased number of passengers. After seeing all of the activities and facilities unique to the Magic's bigger sisters that you and TCD wrote about, I no longer have any doubts. I will choose by itineraryand I know I will be happy on any of the DCL ships.
  17. Alaska is definitely at the top of our list for places we want to go. That looks like a great itinerary. One of my coworkers just got back from visiting his kid who is stationed up there. He did a lot of land based activities and sight seeing, and i told him it sounded like the better way to see Alaska. He said you really have to do both land touring and cruising the bays/inlets/glaciers to see all Alaska has to offer.
  18. Saint John We had an afternoon excursion, so we planned on wandering down their Harbor Walk and up to the Market Square and City Market. I knew that we would be the second ship in port and that the Carnival Gloryhole would get the premier spot at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal and that the Magic would berth farther away with a big circus tent instead of a terminal. What I didn't know was that the Canadians had built a new Diamond Jubilee Terminal and that the Disney Magic would be the first to dock there! This meant a shorter walk to the market. The day was very dreary, however. The fog wa
  19. I see a monkey, but when I first saw one in our cabin I couldn't help thinking it was some kind of monkey torture, clamping the poor guy's hands to the coat hanger!
  20. It had a lot of great options. If you just wanted to step off the ship: Plenty of shopping and dining Pirate ship, tall ship, and Theodore Tugboat excursions leaving from the Harbourwalk Pier 21, like Ellis Island, where millions first landed on their journey to become Canadians Maritime Museum of the Atlantic with aexhibit about the Halifax explosion and a new exhibit about the Titanic Halifax Citadel Halifax Public Gardens If you wanted to go further there is Peggy's Cove. I know! Lobster was not in season, but with an agreement with the government they measure them and toss them all ba
