Hello!   I have been perusing all of the "preferred vender" info as I am thinking of renting again over the holiday season this year (sometimes I just don't want to tow our rig that far as we live in TX). I rented from Greenburg once in the past and had a bad experience so that one is out. Meacham's responded this time that they are "closed for Christmas from Dec 18-25th - really?!! So we arrive on Dec 19th 2020 - out of luck. Kissimmee Orlando RV is responding to my emails and seems interested in renting to us but they are not listed as a "preferred" rental company, so could they drop the camper in our site before we actually arrive (we won't get in until about 10 pm)? And, last question: we have a multiple-reservation-number reservation (took me a couple months to "patch" together the 8 night reservation haha!) - might this be an issue if renting? It seems Disney always says "you may have to move your rig during your stay since we cannot guarantee your space for the full time" even if I link the reservations....I have never had to move in the past, but might it actually happen?

MANY THANKS - have appreciated your site for many years even though I don't often speak up! 🙂

Honestly the only thing the “preferred vendors” really gets you is they can set up before you arrive. I have used Camper Rental Adventures  several times as have clients and they have pet friendly campers. I have no hesitation recommending them. Tell Dawn I said hi if you contact them.

Okay... not a "report", yet.  Still planning.  We leave end May/beginning of June.   If you have any must-see stops... in IL, MO, NE, SD or ND.. please let me know.  I have an extra few days that I can work into that area of the country IF there is something worth seeing on my route.  Leaving from GA, heading up to Banff (through Glacier), back down to WA, then the Oregon Coast.  We'll hit Crater NP, Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore on our way back... then down to OKC (kids LOVED the science museum last time, so we have to hit it again ;) )...then back to GA.

Time goes by so fast...it will be here before we know it!!

Devils Tower on your way from Yellowstone to Mount Rushmore. Crazy Horse Memorial near Rushmore. Custer State Park near Rushmore.

On are last trip my husband and I did a lot of walking around the loops. My question is we saw one site with 2 campers on it.

One was a bigger pop up and one was a travel trailer. I could not believe this is allowed. Do you pay extra? Is this a common thing?

Do you just put your vehicle's in overflow?

    Thanks

It used to be common but Disney changed the rules and that is technically not allowed anymore.

  4. Fastpass+ changes to Hollywood Studios. Changes to the tiers and Smugglers Run now eligible for Fastpasses for arrivals on or after February 19.

Attention Star Wars fans! Guests can now reserve access to fly the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

FastPass+ reservations for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are available in the My Disney Experience app for those planning visits on or after Feb. 19.

Similar to other theme park offerings, when making FastPass+ plans for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests can select between either Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or Slinky Dog Dash (pending availability). Then, they can add additional experiences to plans, including Toy Story Mania, Alien Swirling Saucers, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Fantasmic! and more.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run combines immersive storytelling with interactive gameplay and makes guests the protagonist of their own Star Wars adventure! When it’s time for the mission to begin, guests will be assigned one of three critical roles: Pilots, Gunners and Flight Engineers. The goal is to smuggle goods while avoiding any unnecessary entanglements.

  5. With the campground at least I have stopped doing online check in. Since I do not use the option to charge to the room (or site in this case), and they don't charge a parking fee, it avoids them putting holds on my account. This does mean I have to spend 10 minutes going through check in but that doesn't bother me. Last trip I was actually excited to pull up with the bus for it's first time.

They stopped issuing, unless requested, since they scan your MB when you go into the park. There really is no reason to print one off unless you're leaving a car in the overflow.

They gave us two at Christmas. One for the bus and one for our friends car. One was preprinted and they asked if we had another vehicle and printed one right away with out our asking.

You can get the boarding group for anyone who has scanned in to the park and is linked to your account.

After you get your boarding group, if it’s a high number, you can bounce to another park and wait for your number to get called. You have an hour to get back after being called- but this is not being strictly enforced.

2 hours is the stated time to return.

We have friends hoping to join us at the fort this fall.  Where is the best place to rent a camper for them?  Also, anybody have recommendations for renting a golf cart?  Has anyone had a great experience or a terrible experience renting either to share?

I have personally used and can recommend https://www.facebook.com/camperrentaladventures/

They also offer an option to rent a cart with the camper but if you want a separate rental source I have used https://www.facebook.com/Tee-Time-Golf-Cart-Sales-Service-Rentals-183001445132187/

    Thank you for your answers!

When I called Disney when I couldn't make FP,  I asked about updating to a new ticket over the phone. She said she was in tech and didn't know much about tickets but she texted someone else while we made small talk about the Fort. The other person said because I bought them through Undercover Tourist I had to ask them to upgrade. I haven't yet, but am pretty certain they won't do that. I guess I can call Disney again but with the 20 minute wait time the last time I need to find time to do that.

Not sure on that one as I dont purchase or work with the tickets from Undercover Tourist. I know when I have sold tickets to clients they have been able to call up and upgrade. Good luck!

  10. - Do I get the value of a 5 day parkhopper even though it was a buy a 4-day and get another day free?                                   They are 5 day tickets so you should get that value.

    - Do I need to bring any kind of receipt for them ? They are etickets but I have them printed out showing the barcode. I've also linked them in MDE.              You should not. Disney will be able to see the tickets and the value stored in them.

    - Can I use the value toward a fewer day ticket in order to avoid paying any more?    The 2020 price  for a 5 day parkhopper  on the days we plan to go is $145 more than the 2018 value of the now expired ticket based on the pricing I looked at.  Can I drop down to using it toward a 4-day parkhopper and not have to pay that extra $145?   I really only wanted 4 days to begin with since I want to spend some time visiting resorts.    I believe so. At this point they are considered an amount vs. an actual tickets so I think you can apply that value to any ticket you want. But as far as I know you will not receive any kind of refund so keep that in mind if the cost of the new ticket is less than the value of the old. (If I end up wrong on this please let me know but this is how I understand it should work)

    -  I haven't been able to make FastPass reservations because the tickets have expired *. Is there any way to upgrade the now expired tickets to the current date tickets without having to be on property so that I can make FP reservations?         You should be able to call Disney and apply the value to new tickets over the phone. (should)

With regards to the older ticket you should be able to have Disney prioritize the tickets for use and may want to speak to someone when scanning into a park to verify it is still using the correct ticket.

There were several available yesterday and they even added regular chairs which I've never seen before.

We thought it was unusually quiet for Christmas Day. Over a dozen parking spaces open up front and the only about 18 vehicles in the grass by the HItch/Un-hitch. We did see a new parking area in the grass by the riding stable and even it had a lot of open spots.  Only 4 GC's in the grass by the Outpost bus stop and probably 20 GC's still available for rent. Even the GC's on the road were sparse yesterday.

It was quiet during the day here yesterday. Definitely became more active last night though.

  12. Friends staying with us spent two hours at the playground the other day having an awesome time. 2 normal swings and 2 swings that look almost like car seats but no straps. Not being knowledgeable in these things I can only guess better for toddlers to stay in? It looks great with one of those rubber/squishy ground coverings. I can honestly say (and I don’t really have a horse in this race) this playground set up looks nicer to me than the old one.

  13. Looks like it is official going forward as of now.

    Here’s what to know:

    • Virtual queue will be available at the published park opening time. We may welcome guests onto Hollywood Boulevard prior to opening the rest of the park, and limited nearby locations will be open for your convenience. This includes Trolley Car Café where you can pick up a beverage for your own personal “jump to lightspeed,” and if you need to grab a few galactic gifts, Keystone Clothiers will be available.
    • At the park’s published opening time, the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens along with offerings throughout the rest of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests must be in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access virtual queue in the My Disney Experience app.

Due to the incredible popularity of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, we will continue to distribute backup boarding groups after the initial planned groups have been filled. Backup boarding groups will only be called if all of the initial planned boarding groups have been called back and there is capacity for more riders that evening. If we are able to accommodate boarding groups that evening, guests will be notified through the My Disney Experience app by a push notification (if enabled).
