I live at Disney World. February 2016 edition.

Thanks for looking for it. :) Yep, back home under the care of her mom. I'm off getting prescriptions filled. I do love them dang things! I've actually sold a couple of friends on them and they've bought from Turbs. -

Hopefully we can get together! We are headed north around the beginning of April but don't have a plan figured out just yet. -- An update on my wife- she is done with surgery. She is still asleep and needs to wake up, but the doc said that things went well. Now she needs to recover, get over the pain, and get her voice back! -
Advice for 100 loop!

I can't help with 100, but I can tell you that I've used 200 with my 42' fifth wheel. -

I'll let Disney have this one. They gave my family a free FastPass to 7-Dwarves for today (you know, after renewing 3 annual passes and buying 2 new ones). I figure we are square. :) And yep- shaggy boy. He actually doesn't like it long and wants it cut. When we finally cut it, I'm all for as short as possible. Mom vetoed me since we had family portraits done on Thursday. -

Thanks to both- tomorrow is the big day. She has come down with a cold, so we are hoping that they'll still go through with it. This is the second time she's had this surgery, so we're a little "at ease" about it. But, it's never fun to go through... -
(We'll ignore that I just left that last trip report hanging...) When we drove away from our house on June 19, we had no idea that we thought we'd do this long term. Fast foward by 8 months and we've started the residency process in Florida and have established life on the road. The fun side of this is being able to live at some crazy places. How many people can legitimately say that "Disney World" and "Fort Wilderness" are their home? Well, for 2 weeks- this is true for us. Our home is parked at the Fort and therefore, we live at Disney World. Boom. This visit is split into 2 separa

Thanks for the kind words. It was a good time.

Can someone clear this up while use their website: I have a 1 week reservation (2/16-2/23) that I wanted to change to 2 weeks (2/16-3/1). When I try to extend the reservation, it says there is no availability for a Premium site. BUT, I can add another 1 week reservation for 2/23-3/1 and it works. Which is great and all- but silly and annoying.

Yep, that's it. https://www.thousandtrails.com/florida/orlando-rv-resort/ For stuff to do, it's fairly hit or miss based on time of year. In the "peak season" (Dec-Mar), there are a lot of activities. But, like most places in the area, it's dominated by older folks/snowbirds. But, there is a growing contingency of families. In fact, there's a Facebook group (Fulltime Families - Orlando and Surrounding areas or something like that). In the summer, it's pretty quiet and they don't always do their activities. There is a playground, 2 pools, hot tub, and a handful of other activities (tennis/pi

I've stayed at Thousand Trails Orlando- the price is right. I pay $400/year and that covers as many TT nights as I want (something like 30-50 and then after that is $3/night). Depending on the site, there may be a $3/night up charge for 50-amp service. With the "back way" getting in, the drive into WDW isn't awful and with annual passes, there are no parking fees. Friends of ours stay at Tropical Palms, I think. I will also say- the Fort is way more of a "campground" experience than the TT park. The TT park is very much a "wide open" RV park; not a campground.

In the Houston area, we (42' fifth wheel) stayed a couple of days at Rayford Crossing. It was pretty pretty. https://flickr.com/photos/7200488@N08/sets/72157661516141553 It might be a little ways off of the highway, but we were visiting friends in Spring. We didn't stay in Dallas, but did stay off of I-10 pretty much the whole way from San Diego to Lake City, FL.

So, it's interesting to read these comments. I had always heard that the Fort was the place that everyone compares campgrounds against. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place and actually pretty nice as RV parks go but it's no "the best ever". BUT- it's a much better way to spend a Disney vacation vs. a hotel as I've come to quite dislike hotels. I'm biased here, but I do think the angst against diesels + super large units is unwarranted. For me, I try to be very aware of how long my truck is running and how much noise it makes. I am in a 42' camper, but haven't had an exceptionally long p

Stuck Slide
ependydad...Doug replied to GPoppins's topic in RV Repairs on the Road, at FW and Elsewhere
For one of my slides (I have 3 different kinds of slides), there is no manual override except for pigs like the dickens. For that one, the manufacturer says to get a 2x4" and cut it 1" longer than the depth of the slide from the trim to the wall and wedge it in place. I've had to do this once. That was less than fun. -

Call Georgetown's warranty manager directly. Explain to her/him your issue, upcoming trip, and concern over the speed of Camping World's service department. If you're willing to front the money, you can likely get reimbursed for a different repair facility/mobile RV tech (though, often times with mobile techs- the cost of the service visit is on you but the manufacturer will pay for the repair and parts).
