  1. Makes me want to go back even though I was just there in March.  Wildwood Grove, the new land, opens next week I believe.

That pie is huge, and you get to keep the huge cast iron pan it's baked in.... But I can't eat that much pie nor can I imagine spending $200 on pie.   You can buy it by the slice but even that is steep.

  2. On the topic of the bus stops...with the apparent loss of the Settlement Depot, I wonder where the internal Fort buses will unload?  I highly doubt it will be at Reflections, but I guess it's possible.  Or maybe they'll still use the existing Settlement bus loop for those routes, but eliminate the covered waiting area?

Actually if we're ever going to see them again, this might be the time.  Remember those old BTMRR mine cars that mysteriously showed up when they were building the new WL DVC?

I 100% thought that would happen with the plans for this resort that were floating around 7-8 years ago or so.  It matched the general wilderness theming.  But this Maharisha Transcendental Downward Dog Commune With Nature Theming doesn't exactly scream "covered wagon".

What is making particularly sad at the moment is thinking what it's going to be like for the next 2-3 years as they build this abomination. Those ugly chain link fences are going to fence off the entire Settlement. And campers will be treated to nonstop construction noise. Ugh

That, and the other thing making me sad is the loss of isolation.  At it's outset, the Fort was planned to isolate guests in a wilderness environment, free from the hectic nature of life including motor vehicles (other than those checking in and checking out).  Remember, back in the day most folks didn't even drive their vehicles every day during their stay...they used Disney trams, boats and  buses.  There wasn't as much golf cart traffic either.  It was a peaceful oasis.  And even now, although there's more vehicle traffic in the resort than there used to be, for the most part when you are at the Settlement there are no vehicles other than golf carts.  Non-guests visiting the resort still need to park out at the overflow lot.  There remains a sense that you are removed from the larger world.  But once this place opens, there will be a constant flow of cars in and out of those parking lots.  Just going to the horse barn, which has always been one of my favorite early morning things, you'll be crossing the main roadway into the resort used by cars and Disney buses.  Imagine a horse barn next to the parking lot at any of the existing Disney resorts.  Not very peaceful.  That's what we will be left with.  The sounds and smells of vehicular traffic in what has been to this point an isolated refuge.  That makes me sad.

On the bright side look at all of the new bus stops in the middle of c-108!!! Now we have direct access to all of the parks..

And C-109 certainly seems to confirm that the existing Settlement bus stop is being lost, as TCD pointed out earlier.

I always liked that bus stop.

Another thing....what will the impact of light pollution from those parking lots be on Loops 700 and 100 (and possibly 400)?

Even worse, what about the light pollution streaming into the new horse barn?  If the barn is impacted, it will affect the quality of rest for the horses.  And while that might sound to many like a minor issue, I have to believe that Disney must care more about their horses than they do us low life campers.  I hope they are taking that into consideration.

Then again....maybe they can just convert those loops to more bungalows.

I am not sure. Its not visible on the MK map. I tried looking on various other sources of the map and they dont even show the path to nowhere on them.

It’s like the outer rim.  It’s there, but it’s too far out to worry about and not worth the Empire’s time and effort to oversee and control it.   I would guess nothing has changed with any smoking area out there.

Does anyone have a guess what is depicted in the top right corner of the plans?

I don't think that's a canal. Is it a road?  For deliveries to the Trading Post?  Or is this for golf carts or something?

Whatever it is, part of it seems to infringe on the back of some sites in 100.   There is an existing canal of sorts there already, but I agree this doesn't look to be a canal.

Buy tickets to a dessert party.

Coincidentally, beginning this fall Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino will begin offering the Naughtily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party.  Enjoy a buffet dinner at Minnie's Ho Down Smorgasbord, a private rooftop VIP viewing area for the nightly show, plus the fireworks, followed by a whipped cream dessert extravaganza.  Only $249pp.

Guests of Loop 3000 will also have access to the FWG lounge including their famous bottomless kungaloosh mugs.

  11. Looks like a boat dock in the top right corner of C-104.

Also, I knew they were planning bungalows but I don't think I appreciated the fact that when sitting on the side porch at TE you'll be looking right into them.  What a cluster this plan is.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they'd do the right thing by Fort Wilderness and create a beautiful, complimentary resort.  But this doesn't look good.  It truly is taking over the settlement.

Currently visiting the Fort today (breakfast at TE).  Spoke with Mark (management) in the barn....the new barn is going in behind the 700 loop.

I like that the new barn will be built down in the general Settlement area, rather than out by the Outpost as was discussed 8 or 9 years ago.  However, the only reason they're doing it this way is because it can be advertised as an amenity for Reflections.  I bet they will push carriage rides, trail rides and pony rides, and perhaps even offer some grossly overpriced equine therapy sessions among the various spa packages they'll offer.

  13. After rereading the announcement, I think maybe we are being too hard on Disney.  Go back and take a look, and you'll note that, while they are charging adults $199, they are only charging children $169.  So for a family of 4, that dinner will cost you $60 less than you thought!  That savings can buy you a couple of GAG's....or whatever they call them now, so you can sit inside an active construction zone while enjoying your chicken and steak fries.  Oh wait, the steak fries were killed off at TE several years ago.  Damn that Mouse!

Fixed it.  Because the 3 of you could eat all of the food AND have some really good drinks (for the grownups) for $100pp.  ;)

I had the same thought.  The times INC and I have gone to CG we spent around $100pp.  I guess if you were big drinkers and/or liked expensive wine, you could easily get it up to $200pp, but there's no way I could do that.

  15. Yet another private viewing area for Happily Ever After.  They keep squeezing out the poor slobs who "only" purchased a park admission ticket, setting aside multiple prime viewing areas for those paying extra charges for the various dessert parties, dinner parties, etc.  Making matters worse is the choice they made when crafting HEA to replace Wishes to include all of the projections, making the real estate in front of the castle even more desirable.  That decision has led to the escalation in property values we are seeing in front of the castle....people are willing to pay more and more just to secure their spot, when in years past you could get the same essential show from multiple locations throughout the park for Wishes.  This is like a corrupt City Councilman voting to place a subway station right next to the apartment building he owns, thereby driving up values and rents.  Disney changed the show, molding people's viewing habits and creating increasing competition for a select few viewing areas, then cashes in by selling access to those areas.

The Mouse is a greedy SOB.

What?  Did they fire you!  😂

    just kidding!.

Btw.  How does a campground in Tennessee get the name Texas T?  Are the owners from Texas?

As the story goes, Bob started painting the sign at the Tennessee T campground a couple of years ago....T.....E..... and he started getting tired and realized that Tennessee has WAY too many letters.  So he said to heck with it, painted XAS and the rest is history.
