  1. I was thinking about that while watching the NBC show about Diagon Alley last night. 3-4 story buildings with narrow streets in between. Unless they have some sort of air flow system built in, it is going to be miserable there packed in like sardines.
  2. I just noticed this is on tonight and not July 8th, at least according to the Dish program guide.
  3. Welcome. If you don't want to haul your tents, The Fort has tents for rent. Staying at The Fort is all about being social and enjoying the amenities; however, keep in mind that most of the sites around you will have families with kids so anything "not child appropriate" will have to be kept to a minimum. As long as the boistress-ness is before quiet hours, you should be OK. Good luck with the races! PS: here is the link to the tent rental information: http://www.fortfiends.net/_/rental-information/renting-a-tent-from-disney-r329
  4. Mine came today. It's cute enough. I put it on the fridge with the other travel magnets/stickers. The Peace, Love and Mickey Mouse magnets are holding it up.
  5. OK... back off topic. I've had my iPhone 4 for a while. Why are Android phones better? Better battery life? I use mine to check Fort Fiends, Twitter, email, the weather, sports scores and to take pictures.
  6. I agree. I would get "skeeved" about the fat on the pork belly. The only thing I use that type of pork for is boiling it up with a big pot of navy beans. It then going out with the garbage.
  7. Only two: Cinderella's Royal Table and 50's Prime Time Diner. What's missing? Sci Fi Drive-in?
  8. I agree. The first Harry Potter movie introduces you to the basic characters (good and bad) who follow Harry through all of the movies and it might just draw you in to read the books or watch the rest of the movies.
  9. Thanks for posting such a wonderful trip report. An A+. Looking forward to next year's trip report.
  10. I remember the DL cast members being not very friendly, also. They were especially snippy if WDW was mentioned. Re: the picture taken from the monorail of off-property. I think that building is Mimi's Cafe. There is a McDonald's just after it on the right. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn, right behind Mimi's. Those off-property hotels are really packed in there.
  11. I'm not there but Weatherbug has red and yellow all around Orlando. Take care!
  12. Do Rafiki's Planet Watch before 10:00 AM. Every time I've been there, the medical staff has been performing some sort of medical procedure. There was a flamingo having its neck scoped. Another time a turtle that was hit on a Disney road was having its shell put back together. A gorilla was having a cyst removed. This last time a bird with a broken wing was having the cast changed. The staff is very good at explaining what is going on and taking questions. You can certainly look at The Tree Of Life; but, make sure you watch the 3-D movie inside the tree.
  13. I went on for the first time my last trip. It's the type of attraction I would only go to again if it were raining or really hot outside. It will be interesting to see how the space will be utilized.
  14. If you are thinking about going up in the Characters of Flight balloon at DTD, check Groupon. They had a really good discount earlier this year.
  15. I was wondering how the TP gun was made. Check this out: http://youtu.be/s5ySnbfWLYA
  16. My son-in-law told me about Trip Flip on The Travel Channel. I recorded this past Wednesday's shows and watched them last night. The show reminds me of those on HGTV (maybe DIY?) where a guy goes up and down the aisles of a big box store trying to get someone to let the show re-do their yard or some room in their house. Bert Kreischer was in Pittsburgh trying to find a family willing to go on an adventure. He finally found a family with three kids and he put a surprise trip together for them to Florida. It was quite a fun adventure. I won't tell you about the first part so you can enjoy w
  17. Disney has a nature preserve that is not part of the parks proper: https://www.google.com/search?q=disney+wildlife+management+area&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari Stay at The Fort but go to Universal - especially if you are a Harry Potter fan. It's still parks, though, just not Disney.
  18. I once dressed up as a gypsy palm reader for a Halloween party. I copied a palm chart onto a posterboard, dressed up in bright colors with big hoop earring. I had a line of people waiting to get their palms read the entire night, even when others were cleaning up to go home. With a little Disney Pixie Dust I bet I could dust off my (non-existant) skills!
  19. Those are so cute! Nice work. Welcome and take a minute to introduce yourself: http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/199-please-introduce-yourself/page-192
  20. I found this online: "My Granddaughter is an employee of Johns Hopkins and when visiting we stayed at Patspaco Valley State Park which is located only a couple of miles from the subway station which takes you right to the front door of the hospital. Just something to consider. There is free parking in the parking garage at the terminal." My friend Joyce's daughter-in-law is familiar with the Johns Hopkins area. She says it is a very bad area. "If your RV won't fit in the parking garage and you leave it on the street, it won't be there when you wan to leave". Best of luck.
  21. The Dallas/Fort Worth area is saturated with Fast Food restaurants. The article refers to Jimmy John's (I can see from my window here at work), Firehouse Subs and Jersey Mikes (which are both within 2 miles of here). Earl of Sandwich is special because I only eat there when I'm at one of the Disneys. I wonder how special it will be when I can eat there when ever I want and have so many other choices (although none of them have a Hoiday sub!)
  22. I refuse to pay that much for a ticket. The Rave theater at the mall near me has $5.00 early matinees. I also refuse to pay $$$ for popcorn and a soda.
