  1. It is more "fun" at Halloween, but I love the Christmas time for the music & decorations.
  2. That is definately the easiest to do - don't unpack except for what you have to. Just throw a few cloths, the kids (if you just have to bring them along), some food & Money (lots of money if its Disney) & a charge card for emergencies.
  3. I like the remodel they did except for the sink faucets. Sure, you can throw a washcloth over the sensor & it will remain running longer, but I don't like the inability to regulate the water temperature. When they first put them in, they were obviously having problems setting the temperature or getting it to stay consistant because a few times I could have made hot tea with the water coming out. I do like the trends in some campgrounds for the individual bathrooms, but I have noticed they tend to stay messy with water on the floor, etc, since it is all one unit.
  4. I have been to St. Augustine several times, mostly as a kid with my parents and a few times since. The comparison would be to me is that St. Augustine is what I call a Tourist Destination, whereas Disney World and the Fort is a Vacation Resort. Even if you are on a tight budget and can't do the park passes but for just a few days, if any, there is plenty to do at the Fort as some have described here already. There also is a large transportation system in place for you to use to go exploring other areas of the World. The architecture and landcaping of all the resorts and grounds never cease to
  5. In cooler weather, definately good comfortable and broken in tennis shoes with good socks. However; in warm weather we always wear good - high quality hiking type sandles. They are comfortable to us because we are used to wearing them (no blisters) and with the tropical weather in Florida and those afternoon thunderstorms, we don't have to worry about walking around with wet shoes on. Also, if rain is anticpated, I carry 1 or 2 of those small umrbrellas clipped to my belt with a D ring so I don't have to carry them and I don't have any problem riding the rides with them fastened that way.
  6. If you are buying a trailer that small, make sure you read the fine print. Some of them have very small wheels and will say something like 'Maximum Safe Towing Speed is 50 MPH". The smaller the wheels, the more heat the wheel bearings generate. As far as the decorations, after Halloween ends, the Christmas decorations start going up with some Thanksgiving mixed in.
  7. Looks like Fort Summit has improved substantially since the last time I was there some years back. The sites were in bad need of repair then and most had wallowed out into low spots that needed to be raised back up. When it rained, your RV was sitting in a small pond that forced you to take your shoes off to wade out for a few feet to higher ground. It upset me so bad that I have not been back since. It looks very nice now.
  8. I would rent also for that week. When your schedules get to the point you have more time off together, then buy one again. I know you hate being without one, but logically, it is the best route.
  9. Thanks, and keep it coming. I like to do caves, so we generally do Mammoth Cave in Kentucky when we pass that way. One year, I decided to see all the other 'caves' in the same area, just for fun. Basically they were all tourist traps blown out of proportion. Even though it is not in Kentucky, I would put Ruby Falls into this category. When the water level is low, they have large hoses running obviously up the cave wall & across to make the 'waterfall'.
  10. Where is River Ranch & what is nearby for recreation ?
  11. I know what you mean. I miss the $20 something dollar a night for a preferred site, with no such thing as different pricing depending on the time of year or weekend rates.
  12. Great TR !! I know what you mean about the DDP, way too much to eat. We just do the TIW now for our favorite TS meals.
  13. I know what you mean about the crowds. The week of TG is great with all the decorations up around WDW, but it sure is a lot quieter the week before. Great TR.
  14. Another Fort Fiend in progress !! Addictive, isn't it ?
  15. My last MH was an Allegro Bay & I kept it the longest of any I had, around 15 years. Bought it new & it was well built.
  16. Here are some Halloween one's from this past year, the first two are mine.
  17. The Dole whip is great !! I also like, if they still have it, the orange/vanilla swirl.
  18. Best place in general we have found. Right across the street from the Diamond Horseshoe there is a small area, where people can only stand a few rows deep. This is because this area gets cut-off somewhat by the parade route ropes. This is also just to the left of a refreshment cart (as you face it from the Horseshoe), so you can grab a drink or snack & wait for the parade. It used to be well shaded, but they cut one tree back & replanted another. Also, it is not an area where you really have to get there early. Two other things I like about this location: 1) if the parade has started,
  19. When we go during the holidays, we will catch a few rides. Then as it gets crowded, we relax & enjoy the atmosphere.
