I wouldn't mind a Mickey ride either. I mean you don't get any more Disney than the mouse.

They could turn it into a "Star Wars for Dummies" ride...  For the few of us who are not Star Wars savvy, and can't understand and keep the movies in the correct order, Disney can re-do all of the current scenes and remake them into Star Wars scenes that place them in the correct order.   The stand-by line for that would probably be out by the Starbucks.

There was another link around here. I went and it was cute. They did limit the number of people that were inside the experience which was good, but the lines to see the cars and the preview were still about 30 mins long. They had some cute free stuff there, like Oral B was giving away free gifts. (Tooth brush, tooth paste, tattoos), Alamo gave away free coloring pencils as the kids colored a mural. And the Dole giving away recipes. That was the majority. Here are a few pics from it.

It would be nice if a train was incorporated along the south side of Bay Lake to transport guest to the TTC or perhapase to MK.

I HATE the BLT. Prime example of all that is wrong with the current version of Disney.  IMHO it looks like someone tacked an old Holiday Inn onto the side of the Contemporary.....
It has nothing in common with the architecture of the Contemporary, it has no unique appeal, styling, or attributes.
It reflects laziness, greed and a lack of imagination of the people in charge.

And remember, if you ever go to Disneyland, DO NOT say anything about their tiny castle.  The locals are very sensitive about it.

I might sound like a broken record but if you have to go any where in FL/GA/SC please use Waze.
During the SC floods, Waze was able to get direct road closure feed from the state and most of the affected counties. Currently it is getting feeds from US DOT, Florida DOT and various counties. The state emergency shelters and pet friendly shelters are in Waze. And the live user traffic feed will get you there the fastest route.
Unfortunately, Waze does not have height, width, and weight restriction options available.
Google maps is getting some of Waze's data feed but there is a delay and some of the road closure info doesn't make it into Gmaps.

arthuruscg reacted to keith_h in Gas shortages in the south?
I'm in the Raleigh area and many of the gas stations here and in the surrounding counties are out of gas. The lines I've seen on the news at those stations with gas reminds me of the 70''s gas shortage. I think most of the shortage has to do with panic buying as a lot of folks were found to be topping off tanks. That added to a number of the big chains like Sheetz getting their normal deliveries on Monday created a false shortage. If folks hadn't panicked there should have been plenty of gas for everyone to get through as we are still getting about a third on the normal gas delivered. Prices went from the low $1.90's to $2.20'ish. Makes me glad I have a 36 gallon tank in the truck. I also fill the wife's car when it gets down to around half a tank so something like this really won't affect us.

    We need answers, folks.
I've also been curious about how far the Fence Frenzy has gone.
I paid a visit to Twin #2 on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  We were going to meet up for a meal at Disney Springs and then go and cash in a couple of FP+'s at Epcot on what will probably be the last uncrazy Saturday of the year (Food and Wine starts this week, followed immediately by the Christmas craziness).
As luck would have it, I arrived early, and had about an hour to kill.
Plenty of time for a quick fence check.
    So, here we go.
This is the situation behind the Meadow Trading Post- no fences around the Fishin' Hole, and Bob's Dock is still open for business:

Note that there is a No Fishing/Don't get eaten by an alligator or bitten by a snake sign right next to the dock:

Since there are no No Fishing signs on the dock itself, it is apparently OK to fish from the dock.
There's a canoe in the Fishin' Hole:

Now we are looking at the canal that feeds into the Fishin' Hole.  That's the 1300 loop on the right.  Note there are no fences on either bank of the canal:

Starbuc71 requested photos of the finished pool fence.  We can see a bit of it from here- but that fence around the splash area was already there:

Here's one last look at the Fishin' Hole- no fences around it on this side either; but there is a No Fishing sign there on the left in front of that rock:

There is a new gate at the Splash Zone:

Now we are in the covered area next to the Meadow Pool Snake Bar (that Snake reference is for the original Fiends who may still be around). The covered area is outside of the fence:

This shot is taken from near the restrooms, looking toward the covered area.  As you can see, a visit to the restroom from the pool will require you to exit from a gate and walk around the fence:

I'm guessing that the thought here is that the restrooms will still be accessible when the pool is closed.
There are no Magic Band readers on any of the gates.  I was able to walk right in and onto the pool deck.  There are several gates.  Here's one on the far side of the restroom building, near the hot tub:

If you look behind the slide in these shots, you can see the fence is right behind it:

The fence line is right at the edge of the pool deck, so the dining pavilion is now fenced off from the pool, but there is a gate provided here so the freeloaders can still come and go as they wish:

There was a fancy party going on in the pavilion, complete with a cupcake display:

A couple more looks at the fence:

The speculation that the chainlink fence around the playground would only be temporary appears to have been wishful thinking:

The pool is completely enclosed by the new fence.  There are picnic tables off to the left, under the trees, just outside of what you can see in this shot:

Now we are on the path to the footbridge that leads to the 1500 loop bus stop:

This is the canal that separates the Meadow area from the 1300 loop- there are no fences here, but there are No Fishing signs:

There is no fencing along the canal where the footbridge crosses it.  There is a No Fishing sign over there hidden in the weeds:

Here's the view from the bridge looking toward the 1300 loop:

I headed in to the 1500 loop, and walked toward the back.  There were several open sites just after noon on a Saturday, which means the Fort isn't even filling up on weekends this time of year.
Here's an interesting pop up camper- it's basically just a tent on a small trailer.  I looked at one of these at an RV show- they're pretty cool:

    Here's a nice tent set-up.  I wonder what's in that EZ up?:

Site 1511 was vacant.  This is the area next to it.  That sign on the gate is new:

Now we are in the area behind site 1511- this is the same canal that runs behind the 300 loop and feeds into Bay Lake, where all of the new fences are that we saw in the photos posted earlier on this thread.  As you can see there are no fences along this stretch of the canal:

That last shot was taken looking toward the direction of the 300 loop.  Now, we are turned and looking in the direction of the 1600 loop, and the Four Seasons Resort beyond that.  No fences here either:

The signs posted along this canal are just the Alligator/Snake warning signs, not the No Fishing signs:

Here are two more photos showing the canal banks looking both ways:

    Now we know.
I continued walking around the loop on the way out.  Here's a nice tent set-up.  Note the large dorm fridge set up in the porch area of that closer tent:

Site 1516 was empty, which gave me access to the canal that is behind this part of the loop.  This is the canal that connects to the larger canal we just looked at and runs back toward the Bike Barn:

I guessed that there wouldn't be any fences back here, and there aren't:

That's site 1513 over there.  It's amazing how private some of these partial sites are compared to the more expensive preferred and premium sites.  But let's keep that between us:

Now we are heading back to the Meadow Trading Post.  There's the tennis courts:

And this is the Meadow from which this area gets its name:

Now we are walking along the outside of the pool.  Here's another gate:

There's a new bike rack set up here behind the slide:

Here we are looking across the canal with the pool to our backs-that's the 1300 loop on the other side of the canal.  As you can see, all the sites along this part of the loop are vacant:

Another look at the fence on this side of the pool:

Here's the gate at the Splash Zone area:

I didn't count them, and there may have been one that I missed, but I think there are 6 gates that provide access to the pool deck.  None of them have Magic Band readers.
Look at that long picnic table.  I don't remember seeing that here before:

I finished up at the Trading Post, and decided to take a few photos of the Fort Wilderness merchandise section.  These don't have anything to do with the Fence Frenzy, but I'm sharing them anyway:

It seems like there are less t-shirts.  And there were no ceramic coffee cups- just the travel tumblers.
Now we all know the current status of the Fence Frenzy.
I wonder if they're done with the Frenzy or if more fences are on the way?

Not to be glib but it could just be because they're Disney and they can!  Or the cynical side of me says they may have got a great deal on fence posts and want to use them up.
Has anyone found out yet if they've put the fence behind 1500?

Yeah- I heard it was the lawyers who said the murphy beds had to go.  Either that, or they were going to make Fort management build a rock/post and rope wall around each murphy bed.

    here is the ad
The problem I have with that ad, is that GM will be aluminum in the bed as well in the next 1-2 years, they are investing heavily in aluminum production and have inked deals with Alcoa and invested $877+ million to re-tool the plant ( just like ford did a few years ago)
    http://www.wsj.com/articles/gm-to-invest-877-million-to-upgrade-flint-mich-truck-factory-1438696800
The second issue i have with the ad is no one will load a truck they way they are doing it, #1 it would damage the material being loaded in this case its the brick pavers, #2 most people who use truck for hauling have a bed liner of some sort, be it line-x, a plastic liner, or in my case a thick rubber mat.
any of those in use, specifically the rubber mat or line-x would have prevented the aluminum bed from being punctured

its a great ad at the end of the day as it does show the competitive advantage they currently have, but in a year or so  this ad will bite back at them...

My dad was a FAT ( fire apparatus technician) for 33 years, so i believe you, the article that i had read was more geared at OTR semi's
Paccar is used in Kenworth and peterbuilt and they feature the use of the plastic oil pan for weight reduction, and noise reduction as it dampens the sounds of the engine
    http://www.truckinginfo.com/article/story/2015/11/test-drive-paccar-mx-11-pulls-stronger-than-expected.aspx
" Sitting in an engine compartment, the MX-11 looks like almost any inline six-cylinder diesel. Like all Paccar engines, it’s painted a conservative dark gray. It might look like an MX-13, but few parts are interchangeable between the two engines. Compacted graphite iron forms the MX-11’s block, double overhead camshafts actuate the valves, a “lube module” consisting of two filters cleanse the motor oil, and a composite plastic material is used for the oil pan. "

At the end of the day the OP ask for an opion onthe ford Eco-boost I have one so i gave my opinion
we all do different things and use our vehicles differently, I work from home, behind a computer screen 8 hours a day, but when i am off work I like to play, and I am a home owner
my Xterra wasnt cutting the mustard when i needed to bring home 20 bags of mulch, or new appliances, or taking the bikes and 4 people to the park, my truck does what i need it to do and thats what matters to me.  now I am not saying ill never upgrade to a diesel but for now, i dont need one

Yeah and those are going to be some doozies that are likely to draw some big crowds.  Star Wars Land??  Fuggedaboutit.  That opening should make the first Harry Potter land opening look like the opening of a new Dunkin Donuts.
(for those of you not in the Northeast, there is currently a Dunkin Donuts about every 100 yards up here)
I've heard more than a few people say they're holding off on their next trip until some of that big new stuff is open.
