Oh my gosh... you're awesome.  We just drove through that place last week.  I LOVE it there!!!  But yes, $100 is overpriced.  It's stunning (are you getting a river site?), but that's really high.

Not riverside, but just across from them in A loop. Planning on doing some tubing if the river flow is good.

  2. Margaritaville resort now has a campground open. $85 a night is still pricey, but it is roughly half of the Fort. Looks like they have golf cart rental...not sure if private carts are allowed. The water park and beach area looks pretty nice, and you can actually get in the water!

Edit...just called them. Private carts are allowed and you can take them from the campground down to the water park and restaurant areas.

  3. We had dinner at spice road yesterday,  and it was really good. I've always wanted to eat there, but we never found the time. Yesterday, we were kidless and just cruising around epcot so we grabbed a ressy. We had the hummus fries for an appetizer. They were really good, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The dipping sauce was a little bit spicy and pretty tasty. I had the chicken and steak skewers with green beans with sliced almonds and rosemary fries. It was very very good. The steak and chicken were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The chimichurri went well with it. Tish had the lamb sliders with hummus fries. This too was very good. The portions were huge. We could not finish all of it. We both had cocktails that were just ok. I would bring my own next time. We will definitely go back.

Nooooooooo. Man I did not like hearing them they would ruin the loop for a couple days. I am sorry but if they show up in my loop disney will be refunding my $200 a night if I have to hear that all day. At $65 I could live with it but not at the current rates.

No kidding. I have not been bothered by them, but I've seen them while looping. They don't seem to be trolling the loops like before.

They could have been met at the back gate and let in, that happened  in the past,  I personally would ask to just to see if the rules changed again out of curiosity.

I've seen them 2 days in a row. Security is making a lot of rounds through the loops. They have to know they are here. They were stripping all of the decals off a class A today in the 600 loop.

    so, here's my question....

I made my premium reservation for our upcoming 10-day stay at the Fort many months ago.  Way before Meadows Premium was an option!  Are they going to honor the fact, when we check in, that I was given many premium options for loops to pick from when I made the reservation and now many less ?  We were splurging on a premium site so we could possibly have loop 1400 to celebrate my triplets' high school graduation.  We rarely ever pay for premium and I am assuming they would hit us with a fee for a downgrade at this point since we arrive in 5 days.  Very disappointed!😒

I think if you were already booked before the category was official you should be good. I will let you know Monday....we always stay in the 900's.

I understand it could change and wouldn't buy supplies until just before we leave. I have several different ideas if it is 10, 20 or 100. I would use the very rough number to decide on a dish and work out the recipe changes needed.

There is a tentative list on the front page. I would say the number of sites times 2.5 would be a decent estimate

Is there a rough count of how many people and/or families are expected to be coming? I'm assuming there will be some type of a potluck and a rough count would help me decide what to make.

Probably should wait until about a week out or less for an accurate count. We have an awesome potluck at Dave's MH last year. I also have his buffalo chicken dip recipe from last year. That stuff was da bomb

See that right there is exactly how we (who love the Fort), need to think about it.  Our family can no longer (financially) continue with APs and staying at the Fort... but even if we could, you have to ask yourself when do you push sentimentality aside, sit down and really look at the numbers.

    Crazy stuff.

I won't ever regret spending time, and subsequently money, with the family camping. You can't buy that time back at the end of your life. But you can definitely spend time and way less money going to other places.

I can see us taking a lot more weekend trips in the future, and that is fine with me. I am wanting more trips to the mountains anyway. We are to the point now where the kids always want to take friends. That is one of the reasons that we bought a bigger camper. As a family of 5 we are tapped out on seats in the truck. So that means if friends go we take 2 vehicles. Taking 2 vehicles to the Smokies is way cheaper and easier than 2 to the Fort. Heck even going to the beach is 4.5 hours shorter. We can do a long weekend for $500. A trip to Disney is always $2k to $3k per trip. Another issue is the kids don't have many friends who's parents will pay for the passes to Disney, and I typically pay for all of their food anyway. We had 2 friends lined up to go with us to the Fort next week, but both backed out. I am pretty sure it is due to pass prices.

Possibly.  I can understand that logic.  I just can't understand the logic of $200+/night for a campsite.  Well... I understand it from Disney's perspective, as people are paying it.  But for our family, we simply cannot do it.

It is hard to wrap your head around. In the past 2 weeks I have paid for 4 nights at Noccalula Falls CG, 3 nights at Live Oak Landing outside of Destin, 3 nights at Defeated Creek, and 1 night at Rainbow Springs State Park near Ocala. All of that was a grand total of roughly $375.
