As far as I’ve heard there are no plans to relocate the backyard BBQ back there anymore.
Any info on where it's going or going away?

My motto is I'd rather be sweating at Disney than at work. So we go whenever we feel like it. If it's hot at Disney it will be hot at home .
My kids can't miss school now so we do spring break (at FW now), summer trips, and usually a week at Thanksgiving.
We were here for MLK weekend and the weather was perfect. It is in the low 80's this week too.

Does anyone know if the backyard bbq pavilion is being relocated to the same area as planned before?

Park is open with fresh sod.

Like was said before the amount of flagging and spray paint on the ground and pavement all around the store, marina, and pioneer hall is troubling. I saw it for myself earlier today. I'm thinking cart traffic in that area may be a thing of the past when this new stuff is built.

This is going to be one hell of a GG if everyone holds

Not to be snarky and not being judgmental, but how do Fiend non retirees, have the time and $$ to visit the Fort multiple times during the year for more than a week at a time?
Have you saved vacation time from previous years so you can take more time off in one year?
Do you work from home?
Do you own your own business and have reliable employees that take care of the business while you are away?
I see the same thing on other Disney camping site... "we have 4 three week vacations to the Fort planned this year!"
Just being nosy.
I'm lucky that my company offers generous vacation time. I typically have 5 to 6 weeks a year available. Also I have to work every 4th weekend. That gives me 2 days off the following week. So I can take 3 days and be off for 5. I try to always schedule a work weekend before vacation to cut down on time. Now that my wife is working again we are constrained by her time off. For example the kids and I check in on Saturday, but she is flying down Tuesday night. I also own a fabrication business. It takes up nearly all of my free time, but I have my father working with me so he looks after things when I am gone.
We also like to do short trips at times too. We've done 2 long weekend trips so far this year.
On the $ side we are fortunate to have some disposable income, and I don't mind spending it on memories while my kids are young. We buy AP's to help on park fees, but honestly we probably spend more as a result of AP's lol.

I have a few years on you, but I only visited the MK once when I was kid in 1977. I remember the park and seeing these great big topiary on the monorail ride over. I have a memory of Goofy water skiing as well. Unfortunately my parents weren't campers so I had no idea the Fort existed until my next trip in 1998. As soon as my kids were old enough we have made the Fort a regular trip.
I remember the characters waterskiing too. We used to take the bike path past is what is now WL to look at the topiaries.
We visited FW regularly until about 1987, then family troubles put an end to it. I went back in 1994 (wilderness lodge) and to FW in 1998 with my GF (now wife), and we been about every year since then.

How long have you been visiting the Fort?
I'm 43. I think my first trip was 1979. I do remember riding the train.

That would make sense. It probably wouldn't be hard to turn into beach. I have wondered how much land does Disney own around Bay Lake? If you crossed the canal by the Bat House and went up the shore till you reached the place where the Ferry's Dock. How far from the shoreline back does Disney own? Google Maps makes it look like Disney property all the way. The satellite view really makes your idea look all the more likely.
What ropes are you referring too? I assume it was like most public lakes and had a defined boundary for swimming. My first Fort trip was in 2006 and swimming wasn't allowed. I visited WDW in 1998 and River Country was open but I didn't visit.
The swimming area was pretty small. There was a rectangular area that was roped off with ropes through floating bouy things.

I think we're getting a new beach to the east of the marina. Real old timers will remember this was the swimming area back when guests swam in Bay Lake.
I saw this big area encircled by a silt fence in that area when I was at the Fort last week:
This boat was parked next to the area:
The view from here isn't awful:
So, chop down some more cypress trees, pulverize them into mulch for more golf cart parking spaces and us filthy crybaby campers have our fireworks viewing. And we'll be out of sight and downwind from the rich folks. Which is how it must be.
TCD
I swam many times down there at the beach. I would swim out to the ropes and back. Good times.

Us fiends need to buy a track of land somewhere and build it to be like the Fort of the 80's. We can have teepees, stump trash cans, muskets, peacocks, swamp trails, marshmallow marsh, etc

Whatever you get make sure your tow rig and hitch set up is on point. Even a small TT can be a handful with an undersized tow rig and/or improperly set up hitch.

Dang. Was looking forward to a visit

Instead of charging more for the sites closer to the Meadows, they should just charge less for those sites further away....lol.
I also agree with PGHFiend. Any type of new investment in FW, even if it is for the high brow elites and us low life rednecks will never set foot in it, is a good thing. Maybe they will invest in some new common amenities too. But this raises the question of how high are rates headed in the short term. Is $250 a night coming in the new few years? I hope not.

This makes our Thanksgiving trip seem a bit more exciting....now if we can just get in to ride something.

We are with you. I am finding my wife and I are enjoying camping without the kids as much or more than we did when they young.
For sure. We just have a hard time sneaking off without them. They love it as much as we do.

If/when Disney prices us out we will be at some other campground having a good time sitting around a fire. We enjoy camping wherever it is....from Disney to boondocking at a dirtbike race. We're campers.

Dang good TR. You're husband is a trooper for driving 20 hrs straight. I love to drive, but 10 to 12 is enough for me.

I've basically given up on making reservations for quick upcoming trips. I never have any luck. I use an agent and nearly always get what I want.

I only see 3 pics too. I've tried 2 different phones and 2 browsers on my desktop
Look at this genius
