Is it still a selfie if 2 people are in it? Anniversary trip...

Recommended Posts

In addition to being much, much better looking than you, your wife is also much smarter, as I see she ordered steak fries.

Those "house made" chips are, indeed, shipped in from some factory (probably from New Jersey or someplace).

Heh, and now you know the secret to our marriage. She's the smart and pretty one. I'm there to finance things.

When Sarah and i rode Splash Mtn., she very much wanted to ride in the front row.  When we got to the point of being told which row to go to for boarding, we asked if we could have front row and they were happy to oblige.  (It meant waiting for one log to load.)

We got very wet!  Not buy new shirts wet, but wet enough that I was glad i insisted on putting the electronics in a ziplock bag.

My wife did specifically tell me that we would not be sitting in the front nor near it. :)

Count me in!

In!!

Your fireworks photos are excellent.

By chance, do you have any other photos of this area, or perhaps one with a higher resolution that I could enlarge?:

Thanks. I'm really shocked and surprised how well my iPhone 6+ does. I'll never buy another point-and-shoot.

PM me your email address and I'll email you the original file.

Will do.

I was able to do this, though:

And guess who is there lying on the hub grass?

Yeah- so close.

We were on a whacky schedule that day, so I wasn't sure where we would be or when.

We also ate at the Plaza that night, so it's a wonder we didn't run right into you!

A friend was also there during the 24 hour event. They were staying at GF. She posted a picture of her daughter with the kid who played Gabe in Good Luck Charlie in the lobby of the resort on her Facebook page.

If he's anything like his character, I bet he'd be fun to meet. It was one of the only times my daughter actually expressed jealousy of our WDW trip was that we got to see them.

Ok, I've given myself 24 hours to calm down but I am still pretty worked up by one thing you posted.

You said one thing that completely offended me.  TCD already pointed it out, but I have to speak my mind too.

Steak fries will always trump chips!

In fact, in the greater potato pecking order, steak fries are at the very top.  Yes, house made chips (if they are truly house made chips) are near the top.  Sprinkle them with some malt vinegar and they are downright incredible.  But steak fries....number one.

Do I need to develop another DIT Scale for potatoes?

Ok, back to your otherwise very well done trip report.  Just don't post any selfies of you with a potato chip.

I am enjoying!

Glad to hear it- there is LLLLOOOOTTTTSSSSSS more!

Very nice picture!! I really am enjoying your report. You and your wife look to be having a wonderful time!!

Thanks! We had a pretty amazing time. And with such a beautiful wife, how could it be any different?!

Looks like so much fun for you two!!  The chalk drawing was neat :)    Funny that you and TCD/family were at the same event, at the same time.... it really is a Small World, haha :)

My secret- I despise that picture of me. Just feel like I look funny in it. Worse than usual, that is. :)

If they were *real* steak fries, maybe. But these are somewhere between fat french fries and steak fries. Good, but not this:

Still not a great picture (yelp failed me). But Hoss's in PA makes a big ole steak fry.

But, you're still wrong- why would you ruin a potato product with vinegar?! Just add extra salt and we are set.

Memorial Day weekend we were at AK and my granddaughter saw someone from her class, and last weekend at HS she ran into her school librarian.

Cue up the Small World music...

I don't know, well done shredded hash browns crispy on both sides but still soft inside, hash brown pattys with a good horseradish sauce, and well made tater tots are all fantastic too!

Probably all 3 are better than steak fries

Hmm....I think when I created the DIT Potato Scale, I need to put Waffle House hash browns pretty close to the top.

Ok, to disrupt this hijack (which I fully support- fried potatoes make the world go 'round), let me pick back up. We were last seen smooching just shy of 11pm. At the time it was thundering and lightninging (is that a word?) and cancelled the 11pm showing of the Main Street Electric Parade. We had gotten pretty good seats inside of the theater and were debating what to do next. One option that we didn't consider was going all homeless style:

18154578942_c8b1d711d1_z.jpg

We sat in there until close to midnight. While sitting there, we heard a lot of people talking about the rain and leaving. And others saying the parking lot was a mad house. And even more saying that under the train station was gridlocked with people. We have never bailed on a park due to rain before, so we did the sane thing and bought another set of ponchos (this is likely set 3 over the years):

18147935415_c0688363b4_z.jpg

It's been a long, long time since we saw the Hall of Presidents show. And with the upcoming Roadschooling- we decided to get a dose of education in. So in we went:

17524319424_0c7f4c5a52_z.jpg

What I don't have pictures of is that it looked like a homeless refuge in there. People sleeping all over the floors, on benches, and even one under a bench. Anyway, it was a 19 minute wait for a 22 minute show. Seems like we just missed it. So we left.

We ended up watching the Country Bear Jamboree. I've never been in such ruckus crowd before- but there were people shouting, singing, you name it - especially during the bloody song.

My wife had heard that shifts end for CMs at other parks around midnight and everyone flocks to MK for the 24-hour event. I would assume that had a lot to do with the behavior in the CBJ. Fun, but a little too over the top. And with my hearing issues (background noise kills me), I couldn't understand most of what was being sung. Oh well, I've heard it all before. :)

Moving along, I noticed someone setting up lights for the Coolest Summer Ever:

(Later, there was a DJ/dance party here.)

And now, we made our way back to the front of the park. We were hoping that our earlier Fast Passes would let us keep spots right where the parade starts. And we were right. Here's the Frozen pre-parade and some precious snowflakes:

You'd fly too, if someone hit your peter with a pan.)

Dat Ass:

As you can see, we're sitting across the street from the train station. Literally everyone on my side is sitting... except for this lady. She stood a little while ago and proceeded to stand the whole time, edging further and further out into the street. So, I finally took her picture to remember her forever.

Creepiest voice on a character, ever. I couldn't make out one word of what he was saying, but he'd babble and then laugh over and over:

17958614230_1d67226c95_z.jpg

And then the parade came to an end with a 'Murica! sign:

I'm unsure what I said or did- but you know I'm hilarious:

Serious selfie-time:

18149852385_371e368b58_z.jpg

And now, it was pushing 2. We needed a serious dose of second dinner. A good many places were closed. So we ended up getting Chicken Nuggets, Fish Fingers, and fries:

17526389643_079b5bcf63_z.jpg

(Not quite up to par with drunk Denney's at 2am, but edible and we were hungry.)

Next, I think we decided to mixup what was in our stomachs and head to Big Thunder Mountain. We walked past the Riverboat:

I forget how, but wife talked us into some extra FastPasses with a CM over something earlier. I don't remember what, but we used them for this ride. But first, an "in-line" selfie:

18120073636_a457b941a1_z.jpg

And, an "one the ride" selfie:

17523699514_02d93aa420_z.jpg

(I have this combination for almost all of the attractions.)

We hopped on the train and headed around to Circusland:

And rode Ariel:

On our way to Winnie the Pooh, we did yet another Castle selfie (not bad for 3:15am- though, the humidity is messin' with my hair.):

18142952832_e7ed8d3ca5_z.jpg

It's been an extremely long time since we did the regular queue for Winnie the Pooh. The goo wall was kind of fun to play with.
